The future of British rock ’n’ roll is looking seriously loud — and one of the country’s youngest touring rock bands is already making enough noise to attract the attention of one of the biggest names in British amplification.
Retsecrow(s), whose four members are aged between just 14 and 17, have struck a chord with legendary British amplifier manufacturer Laney as their remarkable journey through the UK grassroots music scene continues.
And considering these young rockers have already clocked up around 80 live shows since 2022, we reckon they’ve earned the right to turn those amps up a few extra notches.
🤘 80 Shows And They’re Only Getting Started
While plenty of musicians twice their age are still dreaming about getting a band together and hitting the road, Retsecrow(s) have been getting stuck into the real thing.
Since 2022, the four-piece have performed approximately 80 shows, taking their music into venues and festivals across the UK and steadily building up the sort of live experience that can only be earned by getting on stage night after night.
That’s some serious mileage for musicians aged between 14 and 17.
It’s also exactly the sort of story we bloody love here at The Riff Report.
Grassroots music isn’t just about established bands squeezing into smaller venues. It’s about giving the next generation of musicians somewhere to learn their craft, make mistakes, develop their sound, build an audience and discover what being in a working band is actually all about.
Retsecrow(s) appear to be doing precisely that.
🔊 Enter Laney
Their efforts haven’t gone unnoticed either.
The young band have now caught the attention of Laney, one of the great names in British amplification and a company with a history stretching back through generations of heavy music.
For an emerging rock band, particularly one made up of musicians this young, receiving recognition from a respected British music equipment manufacturer is a cracking milestone.
Laney amplifiers have been part of the British rock and metal landscape for decades, with the company’s equipment becoming synonymous with big guitars, enormous riffs and stages that are generally much louder than your neighbours would appreciate.
So for a new generation of British musicians to develop a relationship with a company carrying that kind of heritage feels rather fitting.
Rock history meeting rock’s future.
We like the sound of that. 🤘
🎸 The Next Generation Is Already Here
There’s a tendency whenever people talk about the future of rock music to ask the same question:
“Where are the next generation of bands?”
Well… they’re right here.
They’re rehearsing after school.
They’re lugging equipment into venues.
They’re playing support slots.
They’re travelling around the country.
They’re getting onto festival stages.
And in the case of Retsecrow(s), they’re already approaching triple figures when it comes to live performances.
That matters.
Every established rock band started somewhere, whether that was a bedroom, garage, rehearsal room, youth club or tiny local venue where the PA sounded like it had survived several wars.
Nobody suddenly wakes up ready to headline an arena.
Those skills are built through years of rehearsals, questionable load-ins, tiny stages, broken strings, soundchecks, long drives and gigs where absolutely anything can happen.
Starting that journey while still in your teens gives Retsecrow(s) an incredible amount of experience to build upon.
🏟️ Protect The Grassroots
Their story also highlights something much bigger.
If Britain wants young bands like Retsecrow(s) to become tomorrow’s festival headliners, then grassroots venues, promoters and festivals need protecting.
Young musicians need somewhere to play.
They need promoters willing to give them opportunities.
They need audiences prepared to arrive early and watch the support bands.
They need rehearsal spaces.
They need independent festivals.
And they need established companies within the music industry willing to recognise and encourage emerging talent.
Without that ecosystem, there’s no pathway from teenage band to touring rock act.
The enormous bands filling arenas today didn’t magically appear there. Somewhere along the way, somebody gave them a stage.
That cycle needs to continue.
🐉 The Riff Report Verdict
Retsecrow(s) may be young, but 80 shows since 2022 tells you these musicians aren’t treating their band like a five-minute hobby.
They’re putting in the miles.
They’re getting stage experience.
They’re playing festivals and venues around Britain.
And now they’ve attracted the attention of one of the most recognisable names in British amplification.
Not bad going when the oldest member is only 17, is it?
There’s a long road ahead, of course, but that’s exactly what makes stories like this exciting.
Nobody knows where these four young musicians could be five or ten years from now.
Maybe we’ll be watching them climbing festival bills.
Maybe there are albums, tours and considerably bigger stages waiting down the road.
Whatever happens next, getting dozens of gigs under their belts before some of the members are even old enough to vote is one hell of a way to start.
So crank those Laneys, keep hammering the grassroots circuit and keep making a racket.
The next generation of British rock isn’t waiting in the wings anymore.
They’re already on stage. 🎸🔥🤘
