Iron Maiden are celebrating five decades of heavy metal domination by giving vinyl collectors a serious problem for their bank accounts! ๐ธ๐ค
The British metal legends have announced two special anniversary releases arriving in December 2026: a limited-edition 40th-anniversary pressing of Somewhere In Time and an enormous coloured-vinyl collection covering their first nine studio albums.
Thatโs riffs, Eddie artwork and enough glorious wax to reinforce the floorboards, mun!
๐ฐ๏ธ Somewhere In Time Turns 40
Released in 1986, Somewhere In Time saw Iron Maiden charging boldly into the future, experimenting with guitar synthesisers while retaining the galloping rhythms, massive choruses and twin-guitar wizardry that had made them metal royalty.
Four decades later, the albumโs futuristic atmosphere and staggeringly detailed Eddie artwork remain every bit as striking.
To mark its 40th anniversary, Somewhere In Time will be reissued on limited-edition oxblood-coloured vinyl, featuring the bandโs 2015 audio remaster.
A special Amazon edition will also include an exclusive full-sleeve poster โ because if thereโs one Iron Maiden album cover you could stare at for several hours while hunting for tiny references, itโs this one!
The anniversary pressing will be released on 4 December 2026 and is available to pre-order now.
The album includes some absolute Maiden monsters:
- Caught Somewhere In Time
- Wasted Years
- Sea Of Madness
- Heaven Can Wait
- The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Runner
- Stranger In A Strange Land
- Deja-Vu
- Alexander The Great
Songs including Caught Somewhere In Time, Wasted Years, Heaven Can Wait, Stranger In A Strange Land and the epic Alexander The Great have all returned to Maidenโs live sets in recent years.
And letโs be honest: hearing Bruce Dickinson bellow his way through Alexander The Great after fans had spent decades demanding it was one of those proper โYESSSS!โ moments.
๐ The First Nine Albums โ All in One Mighty Box
The second release is an even bigger beast.
Titled Iron Maiden: 50th Anniversary Studio Album Collection, Part One: 1980โ1992, the new box set gathers Maidenโs first nine studio albums together on coloured vinyl.
It reflects the classic era currently being celebrated during the bandโs two-year Run For Your Lives Tour, which has dragged some long-absent favourites back onto the stage alongside the unavoidable Maiden anthems.
The collection comes housed inside a specially designed artwork box and includes an anniversary poster. It will be available exclusively through Amazon, although American fans will also be able to purchase a non-Amazon retail version without the poster.
๐จ Every Album and Vinyl Colour
Hereโs what fans will find inside the box:
- Iron Maiden โ red and gold vinyl
- Killers โ red vinyl
- The Number Of The Beast โ silver vinyl
- Piece Of Mind โ yellow vinyl
- Powerslave โ gold vinyl
- Somewhere In Time โ oxblood vinyl
- Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son โ white vinyl
- No Prayer For The Dying โ olive vinyl
- Fear Of The Dark โ blue and yellow double vinyl
That makes it a colossal 10-record collection, charting Iron Maidenโs journey from the raw East London attack of their self-titled debut to the dark, arena-sized drama of Fear Of The Dark.
The box set will be released on 11 December 2026, one week after the standalone Somewhere In Time pressing. Iron Maidenโs official announcement confirms the complete contents and release dates.
๐ฅ A Heavy Metal History Lesson on Coloured Vinyl
This isnโt merely a pile of albums in fancy colours. It is the sound of Iron Maiden transforming from hungry pub-circuit hopefuls into one of the biggest and most influential heavy metal bands on the planet.
Across these records, fans can follow the arrival of Bruce Dickinson, the explosion of The Number Of The Beast, the ancient warfare of Powerslave, the futuristic experimentation of Somewhere In Time and the grand progressive storytelling of Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son.
The inclusion of โPart Oneโ in the title will inevitably get fans wondering whether another collection covering Maidenโs later years could follow. Nothing further has been confirmed yet, but Eddie probably isnโt finished rummaging through the vaults!
For collectors, the only real question is whether to grab the oxblood Somewhere In Time, the full anniversary box setโฆ or both while pretending Decemberโs food shop wasnโt important anyway.
Beans on toast it is, butt. Eddie demands shelf space! ๐ค๐๐ฅ
Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. Zero Apologies.
