Following the enormous success of TEKKNO, the German party-metal lunatics had a fairly substantial question to answer:
Where the hell do you go after that?
The answer?
Bigger.
Harder.
Daftier.
Dancier.
TANZNEID doesn’t attempt to dismantle the Electric Callboy formula. Instead, it straps another rocket onto the bugger and fires it directly towards the nearest arena.
Metalcore riffs collide with Eurodance synths. Brutal breakdowns appear seconds after enormous pop choruses. BABYMETAL turn up. The Offspring turn up. Frank Zummo turns up.
At some point you stop questioning what’s happening.
You simply join the party.

Track-by-Track Review
1. TANZNEID
Well, we’re approximately eight seconds into the album and already somebody appears to have opened a nightclub inside a metal festival.
Perfect.
The title track is Electric Callboy distilled into concentrated chaos.
Huge electronic beats.
Massive guitars.
Screaming.
Clean vocals.
A chorus specifically engineered to make several thousand people bounce simultaneously.
It’s utterly ridiculous.
It’s also brilliant.

2. RATATATA – with BABYMETAL
If somebody had pitched this collaboration twenty years ago, they’d probably have been escorted from the record-label building.
Electric Callboy.
BABYMETAL.
Metalcore.
J-pop.
Techno.
Breakdowns.
And somehow RATATATA works spectacularly well.
Both bands understand exactly what the assignment is: maximum entertainment.
Subtle?
Absolutely not.
Would we change anything?
Absolutely not.

3. Hypercharged – with Brawl Stars
The clue is very much in the title.
Hypercharged sounds like someone fed an energy drink to another energy drink.
Electronic hooks fire everywhere while the guitars repeatedly remind you that underneath all the colourful nonsense, Electric Callboy are still an extremely heavy band.
Festival anthem written all over it.

4. Let The Good Times Roll – feat. The Offspring
Now this is an interesting combination.
Electric Callboy’s electronic metal madness meets the unmistakable punk DNA of The Offspring.
And instead of either band overpowering the other, the styles bounce off one another beautifully.
It’s catchy as hell.
Bright.
Fast.
Fun.
Basically summer festival music with considerably more distortion.

5. Elevator Operator
Possibly one of the most Electric Callboy songs Electric Callboy have ever Electric Callboyed.
Yes, that’s a sentence now.
The electronic hook is absurdly infectious, the chorus is enormous and when the heavier sections arrive they hit like somebody accidentally pressing the emergency-stop button at full speed.
Completely bonkers.
Instant favourite.

6. The Way You Are
And suddenly…
Boyband Callboy?!
The Way You Are gleefully plays around with glossy retro-pop influences before inevitably throwing metal into the equation.
It shouldn’t work.
Which, historically, is precisely when Electric Callboy tend to be at their best.
There’s humour here, but importantly the songwriting underneath the joke is genuinely excellent.
You’ll laugh.
Then you’ll realise you’re singing it.
Then you’ll play it again.
They’ve got you.

7. Heartclub
Here comes one of the album’s proper neck-snappers.
Heartclub pushes the heavier side of Electric Callboy considerably harder.
The breakdowns are vicious, but there’s still enough electronic lunacy surrounding them to keep everything unmistakably on brand.
Club music for people who occasionally want the club to develop a circle pit.

8. Still Waiting – with Frank Zummo
Yes, that Still Waiting.
Electric Callboy take the Sum 41 classic and throw it directly into their electronic-metal blender, with Frank Zummo helping bring additional authenticity and thunder to proceedings.
The original’s punk urgency survives.
Then someone switches the techno on.
Absolute chaos.
Deryck Whibley probably felt a disturbance in the Force.

9. The Savior
One of the more interesting surprises on TANZNEID.
There’s still plenty of electronic madness, but The Savior allows the band’s heavier and more emotional instincts additional room to breathe.
The contrast helps enormously this late in the record.
Rather than becoming ten variations on TECHNO → RIFF → TECHNO → BREAKDOWN, Electric Callboy remind us there’s considerably more happening underneath the party.

10. Revery
And here’s the curveball.
Revery strips away some of the silliness and reveals a genuinely emotional side of Electric Callboy.
It’s darker.
More reflective.
Almost melancholic.
The electronic textures remain, but they’re used to create atmosphere rather than simply encourage people to start bouncing.
A brilliant way to close the core album.
Because after all that chaos, suddenly the lights come down.
And there’s something unexpectedly human underneath everything.

Nico Sallach and Kevin Ratajczak remain one of modern metal’s most entertaining vocal partnerships.
Huge clean melodies collide with savage screams without either feeling secondary.

When Electric Callboy decide to get heavy, they get HEAVY.
The riffs and breakdowns throughout TANZNEID are enormous.

Electric Callboy have absolutely no interest in being cool.
Which has somehow made them one of the coolest bands in modern metal.
TANZNEID understands precisely what people love about this band.
The ridiculous genre changes.
The crushing breakdowns.
The gigantic choruses.
The humour.
The electronic madness.
The overwhelming sense that everyone involved is having an absolutely brilliant time.
But there’s something else happening now.
Confidence.
Electric Callboy no longer sound like a weird band attempting to convince metal audiences that techno belongs in the pit.
They’ve already won that argument.
Now they’re simply seeing how far they can push it.
BABYMETAL?
Chuck ’em in.

Why not?
Boyband pop?
Absolutely.
