Papa V Perpetua and the Nameless Ghouls are bringing the full Skeletour ritual to the biggest screen they could find! ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿ”ฅ

Ghost are heading back to cinemas with a brand-new feature-length concert film entitled 2 Big To Rig, set to arrive in cinemas and IMAX venues worldwide from Wednesday 26 August 2026.

The film captures the Swedish theatrical rock giants during two enormous sold-out performances at Mexico Cityโ€™s Palacio de los Deportes in September 2025.

Filmed on glorious 16mm film in front of nearly 40,000 devoted followers, 2 Big To Rig promises to preserve the atmosphere, drama and sheer scale of Ghostโ€™s unforgettable Skeletour world tour.

Basically, the production became so massive that even the title sounds like somebody from the crew looked at the stage plans, sighed deeply and wandered off for a pint. ๐Ÿบ

๐ŸŽฅ The Skeletour Ritual Comes to the Big Screen

Unlike Ghostโ€™s hugely successful 2024 cinema release, Rite Here Rite Now, the new film will reportedly concentrate entirely on the live ritual.

There will be no phones held above peopleโ€™s heads, no wobbly footage filmed from Row Z and no bloke in front of you livestreaming the entire performance to his twelve Facebook followers.

This is the real deal.

The Skeletour was famously phone-free, meaning 2 Big To Rig contains the only professionally filmed concert footage of Papa V Perpetua and the Nameless Ghouls from the tour.

Fans can expect a colossal mixture of thunderous riffs, cathedral-sized staging, immaculate costumes, dramatic lighting and enough sinister pageantry to make your local Sunday service feel slightly under-rehearsed.

The film will also feature behind-the-scenes moments highlighting the crew members responsible for transforming Ghostโ€™s ambitious theatrical vision into reality every night.

And fair play โ€” when a show contains that much staging, lighting, machinery, costume work and general satanic magnificence, the crew deserve their moment in the spotlight too. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ”ฅ

๐Ÿ‘ป A Fitting Farewell to a Huge Ghost Era

Kymberli Frueh of Trafalgar Releasing described the film as a fitting farewell to this period of the bandโ€™s career.

She said:

โ€œItโ€™s the perfect way to close such a significant chapter in the bandโ€™s history and give fans a chance to relive this moment together.โ€

That chapter has been a proper monster.

The Skeletour supported Ghostโ€™s sixth studio album, Skeletรก, while introducing audiences around the world to the bandโ€™s latest frontman, Papa V Perpetua.

The tour once again demonstrated just how far Ghost have travelled since emerging from the shadows of the Swedish underground.

What began as a mysterious masked metal band playing theatrical club shows has grown into a global arena-filling phenomenon capable of mounting productions that apparently require their own postcode, structural engineer and small army of roadies.

๐Ÿค˜ Bigger, Louder and More Cinematic

Ghost have always existed somewhere between a heavy metal concert, a dark religious ceremony and the most spectacular school play ever organised by the suspicious kid who spent every lunchtime drawing pentagrams.

Their music may be packed with haunting melodies, enormous choruses and devilishly catchy hooks, but the visual spectacle has always been equally important.

Every Papa brings a fresh personality.

Every album introduces a new chapter.

Every tour pushes the scale of the show a little further into wonderfully ridiculous territory.

That makes Ghost absolutely perfect for the cinema.

The towering stage design, detailed costumes and carefully constructed storylines deserve to be seen on a screen large enough to make Papa Vโ€™s arrival feel like an actual supernatural event.

Throw in the thunderous sound of an IMAX system and this could be the closest thing to attending a Ghost ritual without being showered in somebody elseโ€™s beer.

๐ŸŽฌ Following the Success of โ€˜Rite Here Rite Nowโ€™

2 Big To Rig marks Ghostโ€™s second collaboration with Trafalgar Releasing following the phenomenal success of Rite Here Rite Now.

Released in 2024, that film blended concert footage with fictional narrative scenes continuing Ghostโ€™s wonderfully strange mythology.

It became a major global cinema success and helped prove that the bandโ€™s devoted congregation would happily swap the arena floor for cinema seats, provided there were still plenty of riffs, costumes and unholy theatrics involved.

The accompanying soundtrack also became a chart success, further demonstrating the enormous appetite for everything emerging from the Ghost universe.

Rather than simply repeating the same formula, 2 Big To Rig appears to be putting the live performance firmly at centre stage.

No distractions.

No half measures.

Just Papa V, the Nameless Ghouls and one of the biggest productions the band have ever dragged around the planet.

๐Ÿ›‘ Ghost Prepare to Step Away from Touring

The cinema release arrives as Ghost prepare to take a well-publicised break from touring.

Frontman and mastermind Tobias Forge previously explained that, after years spent travelling the world, he wanted to spend more time at home with his wife and teenage children.

He also spoke about taking time to recharge mentally and physically while finding inspiration for future creative projects.

That does not mean the Ghost machine is being buried beneath the cathedral, mind.

Forge has already discussed working on other musical and film projects, suggesting there will still be plenty happening behind the scenes while the touring side of the operation takes a breather.

Nevertheless, 2 Big To Rig will carry additional emotional weight for fans.

This is not merely another concert film.

It is a chance to gather together, experience the Skeletour one final time and celebrate an era that saw Ghost become one of the biggest and most visually spectacular rock bands on the planet.

๐Ÿ“… When Is โ€˜2 Big To Rigโ€™ Released?

Ghost: 2 Big To Rig will begin its limited worldwide cinema and IMAX run on:

Wednesday 26 August 2026

Tickets are due to go on sale from:

Thursday 23 July 2026

Screening dates and availability may vary depending on location, so fans should keep an eye on their participating local cinemas.

Judging by the speed at which Ghostโ€™s live rituals sell out, waiting until the last minute probably is not the wisest move.

You do not want to be standing outside the cinema in full Papa face paint because somebody called Dave bought the final ticket five minutes earlier. ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

๐Ÿ”ฅ The Riff Report Verdict

Ghost have never understood the phrase โ€œkeep it simpleโ€, and thank the dark lord for that.

The bandโ€™s entire identity is built around going bigger, stranger and more theatrical with every new era.

2 Big To Rig sounds like the perfect celebration of that ambition.

A phone-free arena tour captured on 16mm film, shown in cinemas and blasted through an IMAX sound system?

That is not just a concert movie.

That is a full-blown ritual with cupholders. ๐Ÿฟ๐Ÿ‘ป

Whether you witnessed the Skeletour in person or missed the tour completely, this film offers another opportunity to step inside Ghostโ€™s world before the curtain falls on this chapter.

Gather the Ghouls, grab the popcorn and prepare for Papa V Perpetua to loom above the cinema like the worldโ€™s most glamorous haunted vicar.

This August, the clergy are taking over the multiplex.

And honestly?

That sounds absolutely lush, butt. ๐Ÿค˜๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ‘ป
