Is There Trouble Brewing at Donington?

Download Festival 2026 has already delivered massive crowds, huge performances, plenty of mud, and enough aircraft noise to remind everyone they’re parked right next door to East Midlands Airport. But now there could be another bit of drama unfolding behind the scenes.

Fans have spotted what appears to be a stage and schedule change involving Texas heavyweights Drowning Pool, and a social media post from guitarist C.J. Pierce has only fuelled speculation that the band could be struggling to make it to Donington.

And let’s be honest, Download without a bit of last-minute chaos wouldn’t really be Download, would it? 😅

C.J. Pierce Blasts Airline Frustrations

In a passionate social media post, Pierce revealed he had been stranded at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport after experiencing multiple travel issues over several days.

The guitarist expressed his frustration at potentially missing a chance to perform at Download Festival, describing the situation as one of the biggest disappointments of his career after waiting decades for another opportunity to play the legendary festival.

The post painted a picture of a musician desperately trying to get across the Atlantic while flights and travel plans continued to fall apart around him.

Safe to say, he wasn’t exactly impressed.

Have Drowning Pool Cancelled?

At the time of writing…

No official cancellation has been announced.

That’s the important bit.

While the social media post suggests serious travel problems, neither Download Festival nor Drowning Pool have officially confirmed that the band are off today’s bill.

So before panic stations begin and people start launching Monster Energy cans into orbit, it’s worth remembering that festival schedules can change for all sorts of reasons.

Why Has The Schedule Changed?

There are a few possibilities:

🎸 The band could be arriving late.

🎸 Download may have adjusted set times to give them a chance to make it.

🎸 Organisers may be preparing contingency plans.

🎸 The schedule could simply be undergoing temporary updates while travel arrangements are finalised.

At the moment, nobody outside the band and festival organisers really knows.

Download Fans Waiting For Answers

Drowning Pool remain one of the most recognisable names in modern American metal, and plenty of Downloaders were looking forward to hearing classics like Bodies, Tear Away, and Step Up blasted across Donington.

For many younger fans this could be their first opportunity to catch the band live, while older Download veterans know exactly how much energy the Texans bring to a festival stage.

Missing out would be a massive disappointment for both the band and the fans.

Keep An Eye On Official Updates

For now, the situation remains a waiting game.

If you’re heading into the arena today, keep checking:

  • The Download Festival App 📱
  • Official festival screens 📺
  • Download Festival social media channels 📢
  • Drowning Pool’s official accounts 🤘

Until an official announcement arrives, we’re treating this as a developing story rather than a confirmed cancellation.

One thing is certain though…

Somewhere in Texas there’s a very frustrated guitarist who just wants to get to Donington and play some metal.

And honestly? We can’t blame him.

We’ll keep our ears to the ground and our eyes on the stages for any updates.

Stay tuned, Downloaders. 🤘🔥
