Rock fans, metalheads, and internet keyboard warriors have been going ten rounds over the announcement of an AI-powered Ozzy Osbourne avatar, but now Sharon Osbourne has stepped into the ring and delivered a response that was about as subtle as a Black Sabbath riff through a stadium PA system.

And let’s just say she wasn’t exactly in the mood for polite debate.

Speaking on the latest episode of The Osbournes podcast, Sharon addressed the growing backlash surrounding the upcoming digital recreation of Ozzy, with some critics accusing the project of being nothing more than a “cash grab.”

Her response?

A simple and direct:

“Oh, f— off.”

Classic Sharon. 😂

🤘 The Prince Of Darkness Goes Digital

Last month, Sharon and Jack Osbourne unveiled plans for a fully interactive digital version of Ozzy Osbourne.

The project has been created in partnership with technology companies Hyperreal and Proto Hologram and is scheduled to launch across the UK and United States later this summer.

The digital Ozzy will appear inside life-sized Proto Luma display units, allowing fans to interact with an AI-powered version of the legendary Black Sabbath frontman.

It’s a concept that sounds like something straight out of a sci-fi film.

Imagine walking into a venue, museum, exhibition, or fan experience and having a conversation with Ozzy himself.

Well… sort of.

🎤 “This Isn’t ChatGPT With Dad’s Face On It”

One of the biggest concerns raised by fans has been the use of artificial intelligence.

Many worried that the project would simply generate random responses or create an artificial version of Ozzy that doesn’t reflect the real man behind the sunglasses and bat-biting headlines.

Jack Osbourne was quick to shut that idea down.

Speaking on the podcast, he explained:

“This isn’t ChatGPT with dad’s face on it.”

According to Jack, the system uses what’s known as a closed AI model.

Unlike public AI systems that pull information from across the internet, the Ozzy avatar is built from a carefully curated database containing only verified information, authorised materials, interviews, stories and genuine comments from Ozzy himself.

The idea is to preserve Ozzy’s actual personality rather than invent a new digital version of him.

In theory, every response should sound authentically Ozzy.

Which is probably brilliant… and slightly terrifying. 😅

🔥 Fans Split Down The Middle

As you’d expect, the announcement has divided the rock community.

Some fans see the technology as an incredible opportunity to preserve the legacy of one of rock and metal’s most iconic figures.

After all, generations of future fans who never had the chance to meet Ozzy could potentially experience his humour, stories and personality in an interactive way.

Others aren’t convinced.

Critics argue that some aspects of a musician’s legacy should remain untouched and fear that AI could eventually replace genuine human connection and historical preservation.

The phrase “cash grab” has appeared frequently across social media discussions since the project was announced.

But Sharon clearly isn’t interested in those arguments.

For her, the project appears to be about keeping Ozzy’s spirit and legacy alive for fans around the world.

🦇 A Rock Legend Still Breaking New Ground

Let’s be honest, if there was ever a rock star destined to become part of some futuristic technology experiment, it was probably Ozzy Osbourne.

This is the man who helped invent heavy metal with Black Sabbath.

The same bloke who became one of reality television’s first global stars.

The same bloke who somehow turned decades of chaos, controversy and legendary music into one of the most recognisable careers in entertainment history.

So perhaps it’s fitting that even after his passing, Ozzy is still pushing boundaries and finding new ways to connect with fans.

Love it or hate it, nobody can accuse the Osbourne family of playing it safe.

🎸 What Does This Mean For Rock Music?

The bigger question is what this means for the future of music history.

We’re already seeing hologram concerts, digital archives, virtual reality experiences and AI-powered exhibitions appearing across the entertainment world.

The Ozzy avatar could be the beginning of a new era where legendary musicians continue to share their stories long after they’ve left the stage.

Some fans will embrace it.

Some will reject it.

Most of us will probably argue about it online while listening to “Crazy Train.”

Business as usual, then.

🤘 The Riff Report Verdict

Whether you’re excited about the idea or think it’s a step too far, one thing is undeniable.

People are talking.

And if there’s one thing Ozzy Osbourne spent his entire career doing, it was getting people talking.

From biting bats to headlining stadiums, from Black Sabbath to reality television, Ozzy never followed the rules.

Maybe creating a digital version of the Prince of Darkness is exactly the sort of outrageous thing he’d have laughed about himself.

One thing’s for sure, mun…

Even in the digital age, Ozzy Osbourne is still causing chaos.

And that’s probably exactly how he’d want it. 🦇🤘🔥

💬 What do you think, Riff Report readers?

Would you chat with an AI-powered Ozzy avatar?

Is it a brilliant tribute to a rock legend or a step too far into the future?

Let us know in the comments, butt! 🤘

Michael

🎸 About Michael Michael is the founder, editor and chief riff wrangler of The Riff Report, an independent Welsh rock, metal and alternative music publication built by fans, for fans. A lifelong rock and metal fan, Michael has spent years immersed in the music, culture and community that surround the heavier side of life. From discovering new bands and digging through classic albums to standing in muddy festival fields, squeezing into packed venues and spending far too much time near the front of a stage, music has always been much more than background noise — it is a massive part of who he is. That passion eventually became The Riff Report, a publication created to celebrate the bands, artists, venues, festivals, photographers, promoters and fans who keep the rock and metal world turning. Michael spends much of the year covering gigs, festivals, tours, album releases, new singles, interviews and music news, with a camera never too far away and a press pass usually hanging somewhere around his neck. Whether it is a huge arena show, a major outdoor festival or a tiny grassroots venue packed with people discovering their new favourite band, he believes every part of the scene has stories worth telling. For Michael, one of the biggest joys of music journalism is being able to shine a light on artists at every level. The Riff Report is just as interested in the hungry independent band playing to 50 people as it is in the global act headlining to 50,000. Supporting unsigned, independent and grassroots musicians is a huge part of the publication’s identity, because every legendary band started somewhere. Sometimes the next big thing is not on a massive billboard or a major-label playlist — sometimes they are crammed onto a tiny stage in a pub, plugging in their own gear and hoping somebody in the room remembers their name. Michael wants The Riff Report to be one of the places that remembers.
