There’s a weird exhaustion hanging over music culture right now, butt.

Not the good kind either — not the sweaty, euphoric exhaustion of stumbling out of a festival arena after seeing your favourite band absolutely level a field full of strangers. Not the “my neck hurts because I headbanged too hard” kind. We’re talking about a digital exhaustion. 📱😵‍💫

Everything online feels engineered now.

Every artist announcement.
Every teaser clip.
Every “candid” moment.
Every “accidental” viral trend.

It’s all carefully shaped into something that satisfies the endless content machine.

And somewhere in the middle of all that scrolling, swiping and algorithm worship, the actual HEART of music sometimes gets buried underneath layers of engagement bait and lip-sync videos.

Which is exactly why Tori Forsyth cutting through all the noise with brutal honesty feels so refreshing right now. 🖤🔥

In conjunction with releasing “Guns and Little Girls”, Tori decided to ditch the polished social media façade and instead sit down to talk openly about the reality of being an artist trying to survive creatively and emotionally in 2026.

And honestly?

It’s one of the most relatable things we’ve read from a musician in ages.

🖤 “I Wanted To Talk About The Reality Of Being Human”

Tori explained that she wanted fans to understand the energy and emotional experience behind the songs — what life actually looked and felt like while recording and filming the project.

Not just the glossy final product.

Not just the curated version.

The REAL version.

That alone already separates this release from most modern promo campaigns.

Because nowadays, artists are under ridiculous pressure to constantly perform online. And not perform musically either — perform PERSONALLY.

You don’t just release songs anymore.
You have to:

  • become a TikTok personality
  • upload daily content
  • engage with trends
  • make reaction clips
  • fake spontaneity
  • chase algorithms
  • constantly remind people you exist
  • somehow remain emotionally available while also protecting your mental health

It’s absolute chaos, mun. 😵‍💫🔥

And Tori addressing that openly feels like somebody finally saying the quiet part out loud.

📱 “I Take Part In It But… I’m Bored.”

Then came the line that probably resonated with thousands of musicians instantly:

“What we see on the internet now as self promotion for music is copy and paste lip syncing short form content designed for scrolling and grabbing. I take part in it but… I’m bored.”

That’s the sound of an artist hitting breaking point with performative internet culture. 😅

And honestly… SAME.

Music promotion used to feel exciting.
Now it often feels like artists are trapped inside some never-ending digital supermarket where they have to scream for attention every five seconds before the algorithm throws them into the void.

Everything has become:

  • optimised
  • shortened
  • clipped
  • edited
  • sped up
  • reformatted
  • reduced to hooks and thumbnails

Meanwhile, the actual stories behind the songs get lost completely.

That’s why this approach from Tori matters so much.

She’s deliberately slowing things down.
Creating space.
Adding depth.
Actually TALKING to people instead of simply marketing at them.

And weirdly enough, that almost feels rebellious now.

📼 The Death Of Mystery In Music

There used to be mystery around artists.

Not fake mystery manufactured by PR teams — real mystery.

You’d discover bands through:

  • magazines 📰
  • word of mouth
  • dodgy burned CDs
  • late-night MTV
  • record shop recommendations
  • festival encounters
  • posters stapled onto venue walls

You’d spend hours reading interviews trying to understand where songs came from or what inspired albums.

Now?

Artists are expected to document literally everything in real time:

  • breakfast
  • rehearsals
  • breakdowns
  • songwriting
  • relationships
  • outfit choices
  • backstage footage
  • emotional struggles
  • random Tesco trips 😭

Nothing gets to breathe anymore.

And Tori’s obsession with recreating a “90s analog era” feeling around “Guns and Little Girls” taps directly into that longing for slower, more meaningful music culture.

A world where art wasn’t immediately swallowed whole by the content grinder.

🎶 “Guns and Little Girls” Sounds Like A Love Letter To Imperfection

Even from Tori’s own description, this release feels intentionally textured and emotional.

You can almost picture it:

  • grainy VHS visuals 📼
  • analogue warmth
  • handwritten lyrics
  • messy emotions
  • cigarette smoke and neon lighting
  • motel room loneliness
  • chaos hidden behind glamour

The kind of atmosphere that doesn’t translate neatly into a 7-second clip with captions bouncing around somebody’s head.

And maybe that’s the point.

Some music isn’t SUPPOSED to be consumed instantly.

Some songs need space to sit with you.
To haunt you.
To unravel slowly.

That’s what long-form artistry used to do.

And honestly, hearing an artist openly craving that again feels incredibly important.

🤘 Artists Aren’t Content Factories

One thing Tori’s statement accidentally exposes perfectly is how impossible modern music expectations have become.

Because in 2026, musicians aren’t just musicians anymore.

They’re expected to simultaneously become:

  • social media managers
  • editors
  • marketing experts
  • influencers
  • videographers
  • comedians
  • livestream hosts
  • photographers
  • trend forecasters
  • meme creators
  • community managers

…while still somehow finding the emotional energy to CREATE meaningful art.

No wonder burnout is everywhere.

The internet rewards constant visibility now — not necessarily depth or quality.

And that pressure can absolutely crush creativity.

That’s why Tori stepping back and saying “I’m bored” carries more weight than people might realise.

It’s not laziness.
It’s fatigue.
Creative fatigue.
Emotional fatigue.
Human fatigue.

And thousands of artists are probably feeling exactly the same way.

📰 Bring Back Physical Magazines, You Cowards

Now THIS bit hit us right in the nostalgic rock ’n’ roll soul:

“Bring back physical magazines and long form articles digging into the nitty gritty!”

YESSSSSS. 🤘🔥

Because honestly?
We miss it too.

There was something sacred about:

  • buying Kerrang! on release day
  • cutting posters out for your bedroom wall
  • reading gigantic interviews front to back
  • discovering weird underground bands in tiny review columns
  • feeling connected to scenes instead of algorithms

Music journalism used to feel like storytelling.

Now half the internet just reposts headlines without context while everybody argues in comment sections for engagement.

So seeing an artist actively WANT deeper conversations around music again feels massively refreshing.

Long-form still matters.
Substance still matters.
Stories still matter.

And judging by the reaction Tori’s getting, loads of fans clearly miss that connection too.

🖤 Why This Hits Harder Than Standard Promo

The thing that makes this whole release campaign stand out is that it feels HUMAN.

Not overproduced.
Not hyper-calculated.
Not filtered into oblivion.

Human.

Messy honesty will always connect more deeply than polished perfection ever could.

And maybe fans are finally getting tired of being marketed at 24/7.

Because let’s face it:
people don’t fall in love with algorithms.
They fall in love with emotion.

They fall in love with vulnerability.
With stories.
With flaws.
With personality.
With truth.

That’s what creates lifelong connections between artists and audiences.

Not another trending dance clip.

🎤 The Riff Report Verdict

Tori Forsyth has basically grabbed the modern music industry by the shoulders and gone:

“ARE WE ACTUALLY ENJOYING THIS ANYMORE?” 😅🔥

And honestly, it’s a conversation worth having.

Because somewhere along the way, music promotion became less about artistry and more about surviving the internet.

But “Guns and Little Girls” feels like an attempt to reclaim something important:
authenticity.

Not the fake “authenticity” brands love to sell either.

Real authenticity.
The awkward kind.
The emotional kind.
The messy human kind.

And maybe that’s exactly what music culture needs right now.

More honesty.
More long-form storytelling.
More emotional depth.
Less algorithm-chasing nonsense.

So fair play to Tori Forsyth for speaking up and cutting through the noise with something genuine. 🖤🎸

Now excuse us while we go dig through old Kerrang! magazines, complain about TikTok, and pretend we’re still living in the glorious analogue chaos of 1997.

Proper job, mun. 🤘🔥

Michael

🎸 About Michael Michael is the founder, editor and chief riff wrangler of The Riff Report, an independent Welsh rock, metal and alternative music publication built by fans, for fans. A lifelong rock and metal fan, Michael has spent years immersed in the music, culture and community that surround the heavier side of life. From discovering new bands and digging through classic albums to standing in muddy festival fields, squeezing into packed venues and spending far too much time near the front of a stage, music has always been much more than background noise — it is a massive part of who he is. That passion eventually became The Riff Report, a publication created to celebrate the bands, artists, venues, festivals, photographers, promoters and fans who keep the rock and metal world turning. Michael spends much of the year covering gigs, festivals, tours, album releases, new singles, interviews and music news, with a camera never too far away and a press pass usually hanging somewhere around his neck. Whether it is a huge arena show, a major outdoor festival or a tiny grassroots venue packed with people discovering their new favourite band, he believes every part of the scene has stories worth telling. For Michael, one of the biggest joys of music journalism is being able to shine a light on artists at every level. The Riff Report is just as interested in the hungry independent band playing to 50 people as it is in the global act headlining to 50,000. Supporting unsigned, independent and grassroots musicians is a huge part of the publication’s identity, because every legendary band started somewhere. Sometimes the next big thing is not on a massive billboard or a major-label playlist — sometimes they are crammed onto a tiny stage in a pub, plugging in their own gear and hoping somebody in the room remembers their name. Michael wants The Riff Report to be one of the places that remembers.
