There are songs you casually stick on while making a cup of tea.
There are songs you nod along to politely.
And then there are songs like “The Grinding Void” by Australian metal bruisers Beleth, which arrive like a flaming meteor through your living room ceiling and immediately demand that every object within a five-mile radius start headbanging.

This isn’t background music, mun.
This is a declaration of war. ⚔️🔥

Released independently on May 15th 2026, “The Grinding Void” sees Beleth return heavier, sharper, darker, and more devastating than ever before. It’s the sound of a band evolving from underground hopefuls into a fully armed groove metal juggernaut — the sort of track that feels equally suited to festival main stages, sweaty underground clubs, and late-night motorway drives where you question every life decision while screaming along at the dashboard.

And honestly?
The Riff Report is VERY into this. 🤘

🌍 FROM PANDEMIC SHADOWS TO GLOBAL METAL RADARS

Beleth’s origins are rooted in one of the strangest and bleakest periods modern music has ever faced.

During the COVID-19 pandemic — while venues sat silent, tours collapsed, and musicians everywhere tried desperately to stay creative in isolation — Beleth emerged in Australia as a recording project fuelled by frustration, intensity, and an obvious love for heavy music that could flatten buildings.

A lot of projects born during lockdown quietly disappeared once normal life returned.

Not Beleth.

Instead, they came out swinging.

As restrictions lifted and the world slowly reopened, the band’s sound only became more focused and more dangerous. Every release since has shown a group refining their identity into something genuinely impressive: a crushing fusion of death metal brutality and groove metal swagger, laced with atmosphere and genuine songwriting depth.

Their debut album Silent Genesis, released in 2021 through Wormholedeath Records alongside Scorching Earth Records and Narcoleptica Productions, immediately put them on the radar of metal publications worldwide.

And the praise wasn’t subtle either.

Devil’s Horns Zine compared the band to heavyweights like Carcass and Lamb Of God, calling the album a “raging gem,” while Acta Infernalis praised Beleth as “a motivated and energetic riff machine.”

That phrase alone feels wildly accurate.

Because Beleth don’t sound like a band casually writing songs.

They sound like they’re trying to crush tectonic plates together using distortion pedals.

⚡ A BAND THAT NEVER STOPPED MOVING

One thing that’s genuinely impressive about Beleth is their consistency.

A lot of underground metal bands release an album, vanish into the abyss for three years, then randomly resurface with a blurry logo update and a cryptic Instagram post featuring candles.

Beleth? Nah.

Since Silent Genesis, they’ve stayed active with a steady stream of independently released singles, continuously building momentum and sharpening their sound. One standout moment came via their crushing rendition of Metallica’s “No Remorse,” which proved the band weren’t just capable songwriters — they could also reinterpret thrash classics with genuine personality and weight.

That consistency matters.

You can hear the progression in “The Grinding Void.” This isn’t a band repeating themselves. This is a band levelling up.

Every element feels more confident.
More refined.
More explosive.

And somehow… even heavier.

🕳️ DESCENDING INTO “THE GRINDING VOID”

The title alone sounds like something discovered written in blood on the wall of an abandoned cathedral.

And fittingly, the song opens with pure atmosphere.

There’s this cinematic, ominous build-up that slowly drags the listener downwards — like descending into some colossal underground abyss where ancient horrors are waiting patiently with seven-string guitars.

The opening creates tension brilliantly.

You know something massive is coming.

Then the riffs arrive.

Sweet merciful riff gods, THE RIFFS. 🤘🔥

They hit with enormous groove-laden force, instantly locking into that addictive headbang rhythm that groove metal fans absolutely live for. There’s weight behind every note, but there’s also precision. Beleth understand restraint and pacing, which gives the track a sense of momentum rather than simply blasting at maximum volume for four straight minutes.

The groove carries everything forward like a giant war machine rolling downhill.

And when the chorus lands?

Game over.

It’s expansive, memorable, and absolutely built for crowd participation. You can already imagine packed festival tents screaming the hook back at the stage while security guards reconsider their career choices.

🎤 DEAN WADE BRINGS THE FIRE

One of the biggest developments within Beleth’s ranks is the arrival of vocalist Dean Wade, who sounds absolutely monstrous on this track.

There’s an incredible balance in his performance.

He’s capable of delivering those savage death metal roars with terrifying intensity, but there’s also control and clarity underneath the aggression. Every line lands with purpose, adding emotional weight rather than becoming a wall of incomprehensible noise.

And importantly — he fits the atmosphere of the band perfectly.

Some vocalists dominate songs.
Others disappear into them.

Dean Wade becomes part of the machinery.

He rides the riffs brilliantly, adding another layer of menace to the track without ever overwhelming the instrumentation. It’s the kind of vocal performance that instantly makes you think: yeah… this lineup works.

Very. Very well.

🎸 A SOLO THAT LIGHTS THE WHOLE THING ON FIRE

As if the song wasn’t already stacked with enough riff carnage, Beleth then unleash guest guitarist Aidan Cibich into the mix.

Known for his work with Echoes In Eternity, alongside previous stints in Apophis and Tanin’iver, Cibich delivers a lead guitar performance that absolutely elevates the final section of the track.

And it’s not just technical shredding for the sake of it either.

The solo actually feels emotional.

There’s melody woven through the chaos, giving the climax of the song this huge cinematic payoff that sends everything soaring before crashing back down into the abyss.

It’s the sort of solo that makes guitarists immediately pause the song and mutter:

“Right… how the hell is he doing THAT then?”

Meanwhile the rest of us are just pulling involuntary stank-face expressions and pretending we understand scales. 😤🎸

🎛️ LASSE LAMMERT’S PRODUCTION IS ABSOLUTELY MASSIVE

Production can make or break modern metal.

Too polished and it loses impact.
Too raw and everything turns into muddy soup.

Thankfully, Beleth landed in the hands of Lasse Lammert at LSD Studios in Germany, and the result is phenomenal.

Lammert — known for working with bands including Raven, Sigh, and Godsnake — gives “The Grinding Void” a sound that feels colossal without sacrificing grit or personality.

The drums thunder with real force.
The bass growls underneath the mix beautifully.
The guitars sound thick enough to punch through concrete walls.

Most importantly though, everything feels alive.

There’s a physicality to this production. You don’t just hear the song — you feel it rattling through your chest cavity like an incoming earthquake.

Which is exactly what groove metal should do.

🎥 VISUALS FROM THE DARK SIDE

The single also comes accompanied by a lyric video crafted by Tony Kaarlas at Kaarto Media in Finland, adding another layer of cinematic darkness to the release.

And honestly, this matters more than people sometimes realise.

The visual side of modern metal has become hugely important, especially for independent bands fighting for attention in an overcrowded online world. Beleth clearly understand presentation. “The Grinding Void” feels complete as a package — audio, visuals, atmosphere, identity — everything working together cohesively.

Nothing about this feels amateur.

Nothing about this feels half-finished.

This feels like a band preparing for bigger stages.

🌌 WHY “THE GRINDING VOID” WORKS SO WELL

What makes this single genuinely stand out is balance.

A lot of modern heavy bands lean too far in one direction.

Some become all technicality and no soul.
Others become pure caveman brutality with no memorable hooks.

Beleth somehow manage to sit perfectly in the middle.

“The Grinding Void” is:

✅ Heavy without becoming repetitive
✅ Atmospheric without losing aggression
✅ Melodic without softening the impact
✅ Technical without disappearing up its own backside

That’s difficult to achieve.

And it’s exactly why this track feels like such a strong statement.

🍺 THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT

Beleth aren’t dabbling anymore.

This isn’t a promising underground act experimenting with potential.

This sounds like a band fully understanding who they are and exactly how much damage they can do with that knowledge.

“The Grinding Void” is fierce, atmospheric, addictive, and absolutely loaded with riffs that’ll leave groove metal fans grinning like maniacs in the pit.

It’s the sound of a band kicking the door off the hinges and demanding attention.

And honestly, if this is where Beleth are heading next?

Things are about to get VERY interesting. 🔥

Australia continues producing world-class heavy music, and Beleth deserve to be mentioned in that conversation.

Get this on your speakers immediately, butt. Preferably loud enough to upset at least three neighbours and one local councillor.

Michael

🎸 About Michael Michael is the founder, editor and chief riff wrangler of The Riff Report, an independent Welsh rock, metal and alternative music publication built by fans, for fans. A lifelong rock and metal fan, Michael has spent years immersed in the music, culture and community that surround the heavier side of life. From discovering new bands and digging through classic albums to standing in muddy festival fields, squeezing into packed venues and spending far too much time near the front of a stage, music has always been much more than background noise — it is a massive part of who he is. That passion eventually became The Riff Report, a publication created to celebrate the bands, artists, venues, festivals, photographers, promoters and fans who keep the rock and metal world turning. Michael spends much of the year covering gigs, festivals, tours, album releases, new singles, interviews and music news, with a camera never too far away and a press pass usually hanging somewhere around his neck. Whether it is a huge arena show, a major outdoor festival or a tiny grassroots venue packed with people discovering their new favourite band, he believes every part of the scene has stories worth telling. For Michael, one of the biggest joys of music journalism is being able to shine a light on artists at every level. The Riff Report is just as interested in the hungry independent band playing to 50 people as it is in the global act headlining to 50,000. Supporting unsigned, independent and grassroots musicians is a huge part of the publication’s identity, because every legendary band started somewhere. Sometimes the next big thing is not on a massive billboard or a major-label playlist — sometimes they are crammed onto a tiny stage in a pub, plugging in their own gear and hoping somebody in the room remembers their name. Michael wants The Riff Report to be one of the places that remembers.
