Right then, metalheads…
If there was ever a sign that Iron Maiden’s EDDFEST is about to become one of the greatest weekends in British rock history, this might be it.
Planet Rock legend Paul Anthony has officially been confirmed as the host of the Maidenville Stage during Iron Maiden’s gigantic 50th anniversary celebrations at Knebworth this July — and honestly, this lineup announcement just keeps getting more ridiculous by the week. 🔥
Because let’s be honest…
You don’t celebrate HALF A CENTURY of Iron Maiden with a polite little garden party and a tribute act playing Run To The Hills through a Bluetooth speaker.
No chance.
You build an entire heavy metal kingdom.
And that’s exactly what Maiden are doing.
🤘 EDDFEST IS LOOKING LIKE HEAVY METAL GLASTONBURY
Taking place across Friday 10th and Saturday 11th July 2026 at the legendary Knebworth House, EDDFEST is shaping up to be far more than just another festival date.
This is Iron Maiden opening the gates to their entire universe.
A full-on celebration of 50 years of one of the biggest, loudest, most influential bands the UK has ever produced.
Five decades of:
- iconic riffs 🎸
- monster stage shows 🔥
- giant Eddie mascots 💀
- aviation madness ✈️
- beer-fuelled singalongs 🍺
- denim battle jackets 🤘
- and enough galloping basslines to shake the foundations of Britain itself.
And honestly? Maiden fans deserve this.
Because few fanbases on Earth are as loyal, passionate, and gloriously unhinged as Iron Maiden supporters.
These are people who will happily:
- queue in the rain for eight hours,
- spend hundreds travelling across countries,
- survive festival toilets that should legally qualify as war crimes,
- and still scream every word to Fear Of The Dark like their life depends on it.
That’s dedication, mun. 😂
📻 PAUL ANTHONY FEELS LIKE THE PERFECT FIT
The announcement of Paul Anthony hosting the Maidenville Stage honestly feels like one of those “well of COURSE he is” moments.
The Planet Rock broadcaster has spent years championing hard rock and metal across UK radio, becoming one of the most recognisable and respected voices in the scene.
He’s interviewed rock legends, introduced countless bands, supported grassroots music, and built genuine connections with the rock community over the years.
And crucially — he’s one of us.
He understands the culture.
The humour.
The fans.
The obsession.
The ridiculous amount of black T-shirts hanging in every metalhead’s wardrobe.
Reports are even suggesting that Maiden founder Steve Harris personally wanted Paul Anthony involved.
Which tells you everything you need to know.
This won’t feel corporate.
This won’t feel forced.
This will feel like a proper celebration hosted by someone who genuinely LOVES the music.
Expect crowd banter, backstage stories, fan interaction, plenty of laughs, and probably a few emotional moments too as thousands of Maiden fans gather together to celebrate one of the most important bands in heavy metal history.
⚡ THE MAIDENVILLE STAGE IS STACKED WITH METAL HISTORY
And then there’s the Maidenville Stage lineup itself…
OH. MY. DAYS. 🔥
Headlining the Friday night festivities is former Iron Maiden vocalist Blaze Bayley — a man whose contribution to Maiden history has continued to gain more appreciation with every passing year.
Look, the Blaze era always divided fans.
But over time, albums like The X Factor and Virtual XI have built a fiercely loyal following, with many fans finally recognising just how dark, emotional, and ambitious that period of Maiden really was.
And live? Blaze absolutely delivers.
Every single performance feels genuine, heartfelt, and packed with passion.
No rockstar ego.
No nonsense.
Just pure heavy metal spirit.
And hearing songs from that era performed at a massive Maiden anniversary event? That’s going to hit fans right in the feels.
Especially tracks like:
- Sign of the Cross
- Lord of the Flies
- Futureal
- Man on the Edge
Absolute belters, the lot of them. 🤘
🎶 THE REST OF THE LINEUP IS PURE MAIDEN NERD HEAVEN
The supporting acts on the Maidenville Stage are basically a dream lineup for hardcore Maiden fans too.
The bill includes:
- Stray
- Maiden United
- Airforce
- Tony Moore’s Awake
- Gypsy’s Kiss
- Hair Metal Glamageddon
And this isn’t some random collection of nostalgia acts thrown together for a cash grab either.
Many of these artists have direct historical ties to Maiden’s journey, the New Wave of British Heavy Metal scene, or Steve Harris himself.
For longtime fans, this is the kind of lineup packed with deep-cut history and proper underground appreciation.
The sort of stuff that gets hardcore Maiden fans excitedly explaining obscure trivia to confused mates at the bar after six pints of Trooper.
“Actually, mate, Gypsy’s Kiss were one of Steve Harris’ very first bands before Maiden…”
We all know THAT bloke at festivals. 😂🍺
🍻 THIS IS BASICALLY A METAL THEME PARK
Honestly, the more details that come out about EDDFEST, the more it sounds completely insane in the best possible way.
Because alongside the live music, Maiden are transforming Knebworth into a full-blown immersive fan experience.
And yes…
that sentence alone sounds bonkers.
Fans attending can expect:
🍺 Eddie’s Ultimate Dive Bar
A dedicated Maiden-themed drinking den where fans can neck Trooper beers while debating whether Powerslave is better than Somewhere In Time.
(There will probably be fights over this. Friendly fights. Mostly.)
🏛️ The Infinite Dreams Museum Experience
A deep dive into Maiden history featuring memorabilia, archives, rare items, and decades of iconic band history.
For hardcore fans, this could genuinely be emotional stuff.
🎡 Eddie-Themed Fairground Rides
Because apparently someone finally realised heavy metal festivals needed MORE chaos.
🎯 The “Unfair Funfair”
Even the name sounds gloriously Maiden.
🛒 Eddie’s Emporium
Translation:
“Prepare your wallets for absolute destruction.”
Because you KNOW there’s going to be exclusive merch nobody can resist buying.
🎤 THEN THERE’S THE SATURDAY NIGHT MAIN EVENT…
As massive as Friday’s Maidenville celebrations sound, the entire weekend builds toward the gigantic Iron Maiden headline performance on Saturday night.
And the support lineup is absolutely stacked too.
Joining Maiden are:
- The Darkness
- The HU
- Airbourne
- The Almighty
Which basically guarantees:
- sore necks,
- destroyed voices,
- sunburnt bald heads,
- and thousands of exhausted metalheads attempting to crawl back to campsites at 2am clutching kebabs.
Festival season, baby. 😂🔥
💀 50 YEARS OF IRON MAIDEN IS A BIG DEAL
It’s actually hard to overstate how important Iron Maiden are to heavy music.
This isn’t just another successful band anniversary.
This is one of the most influential metal bands EVER reaching 50 years while still operating at arena-headlining level.
That almost never happens.
Iron Maiden didn’t just survive changing trends — they bulldozed through them.
Punk.
Grunge.
Nu metal.
Streaming culture.
TikTok trends.
Maiden stayed Maiden.
No chasing popularity.
No selling out.
No softening the edges.
Just massive riffs, world-class live shows, insane artwork, storytelling, history, mythology, and pure heavy metal escapism.
And because of that, generations of fans have grown up with this band soundtracking their lives.
Parents introducing Maiden to kids.
Kids introducing Maiden to mates.
Festival fields filled with battle jackets from every era imaginable.
It’s more than music at this point.
It’s culture.
🤘 THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT
EDDFEST genuinely feels like one of those once-in-a-generation rock events people will still be talking about years from now.
A giant celebration of heavy metal culture.
A love letter to Iron Maiden fans.
And a reminder that rock music is VERY much alive and kicking.
With Paul Anthony hosting the Maidenville Stage, Blaze Bayley leading Friday night, and Maiden preparing to unleash chaos at Knebworth…
this already feels legendary.
And honestly?
We cannot WAIT to see the photos of thousands of metalheads screaming along to Fear Of The Dark under the summer sky with pints in hand and Eddie towering over the crowd.
UP THE IRONS. 🤘🔥🍺💀
