Alright butt… this one hits right in the chest.
Slipknot’s chaos conductor behind the decks, Sid Wilson, has been looking back on his late bandmate Joey Jordison — and the verdict?
No debate. No hesitation. No messing about.
“Joey was the best that ever did it.”
And honestly… if you’ve ever stood in a pit while Slipknot were tearing the place apart, you already knew that.
🥁 A DRUMMER BUILT DIFFERENT
Joey Jordison wasn’t just a drummer.
He was a weapon.
A spinning, double-kicking, blast-beating maniac who turned every Slipknot show into a full-blown sonic assault. This was a bloke who didn’t just play the drums — he attacked them like they owed him money.
Sid revealed that some of the world’s greatest drummers would literally turn up to Slipknot gigs just to watch Joey do his thing.
Let that sink in for a sec…
The best in the world… watching him.
That’s not hype. That’s legacy.
🌪️ FROM IOWA CHAOS TO METAL IMMORTALITY
Joey co-founded Slipknot back in 1995, helping build the band’s sound from the ground up — that feral mix of groove, aggression, and pure unfiltered madness.
From the moment those masks hit the stage, Joey’s drumming became one of the band’s defining forces:
🔥 Machine-gun double bass
🔥 Insane speed and precision
🔥 Controlled chaos that somehow always landed perfectly
You didn’t just hear Joey.
You felt him — in your ribs, your teeth, your soul.
💔 THE LOSS THAT STILL ECHOES
Joey passed away in July 2021 at just 46 years old, and yeah… the scene hasn’t been the same since.
Behind the kit, he was untouchable.
Offstage, he was respected by fans and musicians alike.
He battled through serious health struggles later in life, including transverse myelitis — and still fought his way back to playing.
That’s the kind of grit we’re talking about.
Proper warrior energy, mun.
🤘 SID’S TRIBUTE – REAL, RAW, AND LOUD
What makes Sid’s words hit so hard isn’t just what he said — it’s how he said it.
No corporate nonsense. No polished PR fluff.
Just one bandmate remembering another the way it should be:
Honest. Loud. Full of respect.
Because behind all the masks, chaos, and fire…
These lads built something together that changed metal forever.
🔥 WHY JOEY STILL MATTERS (AND ALWAYS WILL)
Every drummer smashing through a Slipknot cover…
Every band pushing speed and aggression to the limit…
Every pit that turns into absolute carnage when those old tracks drop…
That’s Joey’s fingerprint.
Still there. Still loud. Still causing mayhem.
🎤 RIFF REPORT FINAL WORD
Look… there are great drummers.
Then there are icons.
And then… there’s Joey Jordison.
A once-in-a-generation force who didn’t just raise the bar — he launched it into orbit and set it on fire 🔥
Sid Wilson said it best:
“The best that ever did it.”
And around here?
We’re not arguing with that.
Rest easy, Joey 🖤🥁
Still shaking stages. Still shaking souls. Still one of the greatest to ever do it.
