Alright butt… this one’s a bit heavier than your usual riff-fuelled madness, but it’s kicking off all over the place right now 👀
Robert Del Naja – aka 3D from Massive Attack – has found himself right in the middle of a proper storm after being arrested at a protest in Trafalgar Square this past weekend.
And trust us… this ain’t your standard rock news headline.
🪧 CARDBOARD SIGN… TERRORISM CHARGE?!
Yeah. You read that right.
Del Naja was reportedly charged under the Terrorism Act after holding a sign that read:
“I Oppose Genocide, I Support Palestine Action.”
That’s it. No pyro, no stage dive, no smashed guitars… just a bloke with a sign.
The protest itself was in support of Palestine Action – a group that’s been right at the centre of a legal and political tug-of-war in the UK.
⚖️ LEGAL CHAOS – WHO’S CALLING THE SHOTS?
Here’s where things get proper messy:
- Back in February, a High Court ruling said the government’s ban on the group was unlawful and disproportionate
- The Metropolitan Police initially said arrests wouldn’t happen
- Then in March… plot twist… enforcement came crashing back in like a breakdown riff 💥
So yeah… confusion levels = absolutely off the charts.
🎤 3D KNEW THE RISKS (AND WENT ANYWAY)
Before even stepping into the protest, Del Naja knew what could happen.
We’re talking:
- Arrest 👮♂️
- Possible travel restrictions ✈️
- Potential chaos for Massive Attack’s European tour kicking off May 26
And still… he showed up.
He told reporters he believes the actions of Palestine Action are:
“Highly patriotic… protecting the UK from involvement in war crimes.”
Say what you will – that’s not fence-sitting behaviour, that’s going all in.
🔥 “TOTAL MADNESS” – THE STATEMENT THAT’S BLOWING UP
After being released, Del Naja dropped a statement that’s gone absolutely everywhere:
In Britain in 2026, you can be arrested under the Terrorism Act for sitting in silence holding a cardboard sign opposing genocide.
He didn’t hold back either:
- Called the situation “total madness”
- Claimed even police involved know it
- Suggested even judges are aware of the contradiction
That’s the kind of statement that doesn’t just ripple… it erupts.
⚡ “A SMALL PRICE TO PAY”
Here’s the kicker…
Del Naja didn’t frame himself as hard done by. Instead, he said:
A few hours in custody is a small price to pay to demand the government uphold international law.
That’s conviction, mun. Proper standing-your-ground energy.
🎶 WHAT ABOUT THE TOUR?!
Now the big question for fans…
Massive Attack’s European tour starts May 26 – and right now:
- No cancellations ❌
- No official changes ❌
- But potential travel complications? 👀 Yeah… still very much on the table
So if you’ve got tickets… keep one eye on your inbox and one eye on the chaos.
