Right. Stop everything. Put the kettle down. Cancel soundcheck.
Because this… this is a moment in British culture that should’ve shaken the foundations of The Riff Report newsroom 🤯
And yet…
WE MISSED IT.
Yes, Michael… somehow, while we were busy neck-deep in riffs, gigs, and pint-fuelled chaos, the legends at Greggs went and did the unthinkable:
👉 They made a CHICKEN version of the sacred sausage roll.
🤘 THE SACRED ROLL HAS BEEN… ALTERED?!
Let’s not mess about here—this isn’t just a new menu item.
This is like:
- 🎸 Metallica deciding to drop a reggae album
- 🥁 A drummer turning up with a kazoo instead of sticks
- 🍺 Someone ordering a pint and getting handed a cup of tea
The Greggs sausage roll is untouchable British legend status. It’s pre-gig fuel. Post-gig survival. The glue holding together many a questionable life decision.
And now… chicken?!
Madness. Absolute madness.
🍗 ENTER: THE CHICKEN CONTENDER
Now, let’s be fair…
This isn’t some dodgy back-alley experiment. Greggs don’t mess about when it comes to pastry wizardry. If they’ve rolled out a chicken version, you know it’s been crafted for:
- Road trips to gigs
- Cold mornings outside venues
- That “I’ve had 6 pints and need something NOW” moment
But still…
Can it dethrone the OG?
Or is it just the support act no one asked for? 👀
🧠 HOW DID WE MISS THIS?!
Honestly… it’s embarrassing 🤣
While we were:
- Chasing bands for interviews 🎤
- Screaming about festival line-ups 🤘
- Arguing over “best riffs of all time” like absolute gremlins
Greggs quietly slipped this into the world like a ninja in a bakery apron.
No warning. No pyrotechnics. Just boom—chicken roll.
Respect, but also… HOW DARE YOU NOT TELL US 😂
🍺 THE RIFF REPORT RESPONSE PLAN
Right. Enough talk. Time for action.
This is now officially a mission:
Step 1: Locate nearest Greggs
Step 2: Acquire chicken sausage roll (possibly multiple… for “research”)
Step 3: Consume in a car park like proper rock journalists
Step 4: Write a full-blown review like it’s a debut album from a band called Pastry Of Doom
Expect:
- Texture analysis (crispy vs soggy warfare)
- Flavour breakdown (riff vs filler)
- Emotional journey (regret vs revelation)
🎤 FINAL THOUGHTS – PRE-TASTE PANIC
We might’ve dropped the ball on the news…
…but now we’ve got a chance to turn this into:
👉 The most ridiculous, over-the-top pastry review Wales has ever seen
Because let’s be honest…
If it’s worth eating,
it’s worth reviewing like it just headlined Download, mun 🤘🔥
🥟 STAY TUNED…
