WHEN PRIDE FALLS… THE RIFFS HIT HARDER, MUN 🤘😈
Right then, butt… grab a black hoodie, dim the lights, and prepare your soul for a proper emotional battering — because Spain’s doom/death heavyweights Golgotha are back, and they’re not here to tuck you in nicely. Oh no. They’ve brought Hubris, and it’s basically eight tracks of beautiful devastation wrapped in riffs thick enough to sink a ship. 🌊⚰️
Dropping 24 April 2026 via Abstract Emotions, this isn’t just another metal album — it’s a slow-motion collapse of the human spirit set to crushing guitars and haunting melodies.
🌑 FROM HOPE… TO HOLLOW
Following their towering 2024 release Spreading The Wings Of Hope, Golgotha have flipped the script hard. If that album had a flicker of light, Hubris blows it out and leaves you alone in the dark with your thoughts… and trust us, they’re not friendly ones. 😬
The band themselves put it bluntly:
“These are not fictional stories, but fragments of real life turned into music.”
And you can feel it, mun. Every note sounds lived-in. Every lyric feels like it’s been dragged through heartbreak, loss, and the kind of late-night overthinking that hits harder than a double bass pedal to the chest. 🥁💔
🎧 TRACK-BY-TRACK EMOTIONAL DAMAGE (THE GOOD KIND)
🖤 A Simple Life
Kicks things off with María J. Lladó’s raw, exposed vocals — delicate, almost fragile… until the band crashes in like a tidal wave of doom. Instant chills. Proper spine-tingler.
🔩 Broken Toy
Big, crawling riffs meet emotional whiplash. Harsh growls collide with María’s clean vocals, creating that classic doom/death contrast — beauty vs brutality, like angels fighting in a collapsing cathedral.
🌘 Too Late
Slow, suffocating heaviness… until a melodic chorus cracks through the darkness like a dying sun. Then BOOM — a solo bursts out like fire in the fog. Unreal stuff.
⚰️ Blind
Feels like a royal funeral for your emotions. Massive, sombre, haunting. One line hits like a truck:
“I became just an echo…”
Yeah… that one sticks, mun.
🔥 Intolerance (Closing Track)
A final clash between sorrow and rage — grief turned into sound. No happy endings here, just raw truth and emotional wreckage.
⚙️ FORGED IN DARKNESS
To capture this beast properly, Golgotha teamed up with producer Davide Billia (Antropofagus, Beheaded, Posthuman Abomination), and fair play — the man’s nailed it. The album sounds HUGE. Not polished-for-radio huge… but cavernous, suffocating, you-can-feel-it-in-your-bones huge. 🖤🔊

🎤 THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT
This isn’t background music. This isn’t “stick it on while you’re doing the washing up.” Nah.
Hubris is the kind of album that sits you down, stares you in the face, and goes:
“Right then… let’s deal with some feelings.”
It’s heavy. It’s honest. It’s bleak as a rainy Tuesday in Port Talbot… and we absolutely love it. 🌧️🤘
Golgotha have delivered a record that doesn’t just hit hard — it lingers. It crawls under your skin, sits in your chest, and refuses to leave.
And honestly? That’s exactly what great doom metal should do.
