Right then, Riff Report family — gather round.
Because Heart n Soul isn’t just another arts charity ticking boxes and filling forms.
This lot are out here building stages where people who’ve been historically sidelined get to absolutely own the spotlight.
And that’s the kind of energy we back all day, every day.
🎶 Who Are Heart n Soul?
Heart n Soul is a creative arts charity that supports people with learning disabilities and autistic people to create music, art, performances and proper cultural moments.
Not “cute projects”.
Not token gestures.
Real gigs.
Real albums.
Real stages.
Real audiences.
They’ve been doing it since 1986 — long before “inclusion” became a buzzword.
🎤 What Do They Actually Do?
They run creative programmes where artists:
- Write and record original music
- Perform live shows
- Create visual art and films
- Lead workshops
- Build careers in the arts
They don’t just teach skills.
They nurture artistic identity.
Because creativity isn’t something you “allow” someone to have.
It’s something people already carry — it just needs space to explode properly.
🔥 The Music? Properly Legit.
Heart n Soul artists have performed at major festivals, worked with established musicians, and played iconic venues.
This isn’t charity karaoke.
It’s boundary-pushing, genre-blending, unpredictable creativity.
The kind of stuff that reminds you music is supposed to feel alive.
💥 Why This Matters
Let’s zoom out for a second.
The music industry can be brutal.
Gatekept.
Image-obsessed.
Rigid.
Heart n Soul flips that script completely.
They operate on a beautifully radical idea:
Everyone deserves a stage.
Not because it’s “nice”.
But because culture gets richer when more voices are heard.
And if you’ve ever stood in a 200-cap venue and felt the room lift as someone gives everything they’ve got — you already understand that power.
That moment doesn’t care about labels.
It cares about energy.
🎸 It’s About Confidence, Community & Creative Fire
When someone steps onto a stage and performs their own work, something changes.
Confidence grows.
Community builds.
Identity strengthens.
You see it in the crowd.
You feel it in the air.
And suddenly “inclusive arts” stops being a phrase and becomes a living, breathing scene.
💛 The Riff Report Take
We bang on about grassroots.
About supporting new voices.
About keeping culture messy and real.
Heart n Soul embodies that spirit.
They’re not just widening access — they’re expanding what the scene looks like.
And that’s how music stays dangerous.
That’s how it stays human.
The future of the arts isn’t about polishing the same old formula.
It’s about amplifying people who’ve always had something to say — but weren’t always handed a mic.
Now they’ve got one.
And they’re using it.
