Right then, butt. Cancel your quiet summer plans because Gary Numan is officially taking over the legendary Crystal Palace Bowl on Thursday 6 August 2026 โ and itโs going to be gloriously moody.
This is part of the brand-new Palace Bowl Presents summer series, running from 30 July to 16 August, and the line-up already looks like someoneโs shuffled the greatest outdoor vibes playlist in Britain and pressed play. ๐ถ๐ณ
๐ค THURSDAY 6 AUGUST โ NUMAN, ALMOND & LADYTRON
Numanโs bringing the atmosphere. The darkness. The machines. The hair that still somehow defies time.
And heโs backed by an absolute belter of a support bill:
- Marc Almond performing the songs of Soft Cell plus solo classics
- Electro-pop pioneers Ladytron
Thatโs not support. Thatโs a full-blown synth summit.
Numanโs influence stretches from Prince to Nine Inch Nails, from Lady Gaga to Foo Fighters. The man didnโt just write Cars โ he basically hardwired a whole aesthetic into modern music. Proper visionary behaviour, that is.
Expect smoke, strobes, and a crowd that looks like itโs wandered straight out of a cyberpunk festival field.
๐ SUNDAY 2 AUGUST โ GOSPEL GARDEN FESTIVAL
Before the synths descend, the Bowl transforms into Londonโs biggest outdoor gospel celebration.
The inaugural Gospel Garden Festival is headlined in UK-exclusive style by:
- Kirk Franklin
- Tasha Cobbs Leonard
Supported by:
- Fred Hammond
- Mercy Chinwo
- Jerub
If youโve ever stood in a crowd while a gospel choir hits that note, youโll know this wonโt be a polite clap-along. This will be hands in the air, voices shaking the trees, full-body goosebumps stuff.
๐ธ THURSDAY 13 AUGUST โ BASTILLE & THE WOMBATS
Indie fans, your moment arrives on 13 August.
Bastille and The Wombats will both perform headline sets. Thatโs double the anthems, double the singalongs, double the โIโve lost my mates but Iโve gained 20 new onesโ festival energy. ๐ป
Picture it now: sunset over South London, plastic cups raised, thousands of voices yelling choruses into the evening air. Lovely stuff.
๐๏ธ THE BOWL โ A PROPER BIT OF HISTORY
Established in 1961, Crystal Palace Bowl has hosted some absolute icons.
Weโre talking Bob Marley (his final London show), Pink Floyd, The Beach Boys, Lou Reed, Curtis Mayfield, Ian Dury, and Vera Lynn.
Prog. Punk. Reggae. Pop. Soul. Proms.
Now add industrial synth legend, gospel exclusives and indie anthem kings to that list. Thatโs a summer upgrade if ever we saw one.
๐๏ธ TICKETS โ DONโT SNOOZE
General on-sale begins 10AM Friday 20 February at palacebowlpresents.co.uk.
Mastercard holders get preferred ticket access from 10AM the same day via priceless.com/music.
Nice touch: local residents in SE19, SE20 and SE26 are eligible for discounted tickets. Community-first energy. We love it. โค๏ธ
๐ RIFF REPORT DRAGON VERDICT
This series has proper range.
Gospel power.
Synth royalty.
Indie singalong chaos.
Crystal Palace Bowl is shaping up to be one of the most interesting London music runs of 2026 โ and weโve only just started.
If August sunshine meets Gary Numanโs dystopian glow, South Londonโs about to feel like Blade Runner with better snacks.
Weโll see you there, butt. ๐ค๐ฅ
