Strap in, crack a tin, and alert the group chat, because Extreme are officially back in the creative furnace and working on their seventh studio album. Seventh. As in, yes lads, you do still owe us more riffs and you’re finally paying up 😈
After 2023’s Six arrived swinging like a steel chair from the top rope, fans have been waiting, watching, and quietly begging the rock gods for signs of life. Now the signal flare’s been fired. The writing has begun. The amps are warming up. The sweatbands are probably already soaked.
No release date yet. No tracklist. No cheeky Instagram clip of a guitar neck poking out of a studio door. Just the good stuff. The words every riff-head wants to hear: new material is happening.
And honestly? About time, butt.
🔥 No Nostalgia Act Here
If Six proved anything, it’s that Extreme aren’t interested in coasting on former glories or wheeling out the old hits like a wedding band on autopilot. That album slapped. Hard. It had groove, teeth, attitude, and riffs that demanded neck braces by track three.
Gary Cherone sounded unleashed, like a man who’d remembered exactly why he fell in love with rock ’n’ roll in the first place. Nuno Bettencourt reminded everyone, loudly, that he’s still one of the sharpest guitar players on the planet. No dust. No rust. Just pure fire.
So a seventh album doesn’t feel like a legacy footnote. It feels like a continuation of something that’s still burning hot.
🎶 What Might It Sound Like?
Early days, obviously, but if they’re building on the energy of Six, we’re expecting:
- Big riffs with swagger 🪓
- Proper groove you can strut to 🍻
- Solos that make guitarists cry into their pedalboards 🎸
- Songs that sound like they mean something
This isn’t a band chasing trends. This is a band doing things their way, at their pace, with the confidence of musicians who know exactly who they are.
🤘 The Riff Report Take
This news is lush. Plain and simple. Extreme taking their time, writing properly, and not rushing something out for the sake of it? That’s how you do it. Let the ideas ferment. Let the riffs fight it out in the rehearsal room. Let the songs earn their place.
The world’s already noisy enough. What we need is quality loudness. The kind that rattles your speakers, wakes the neighbours, and reminds you why you fell in love with rock music in the first place.
We’ll be watching this one closely, mun. Until more details drop, spin Six, dust off the air guitar, and enjoy knowing that Extreme are back in the studio doing what they do best.
More riffs soon. We can feel it 🤘🔥
