Their only UK date of the year — and it’s going to be emotional, mun.
Get your denim jackets ready, rockers — Shane Hawkins, son of the late Taylor Hawkins, is finally bringing the noise across the pond! 🤯 The young powerhouse behind the kit is teaming up with his dad’s legendary cover band, Chevy Metal, for their first-ever UK show, marking their only date of the year on these shores.
This isn’t just another gig — it’s a celebration of legacy, family, and pure, unapologetic rock ‘n’ roll.
⚡ Who the hell are Chevy Metal?
If you’ve never witnessed the beautiful chaos that is Chevy Metal, allow us to educate ya. Formed by Taylor Hawkins back in the early 2010s, the band was his way of keeping the party alive between Foo Fighters tours — a raw, ragged, beer-fuelled tribute to the golden age of rock.
Their setlists are a love letter to the greats: think Black Sabbath, Queen, Van Halen, Rush, Aerosmith, and every riff-drenched anthem that ever rattled a garage door.
But make no mistake — this isn’t your average covers band. Chevy Metal gigs feel like the kind of wild house party you tell your grandkids about (if you remember it). 😅
Taylor, ever the showman, treated it like an excuse to jam with his mates, rip through rock classics, and remind everyone that music’s supposed to be fun. And now, Shane’s picking up that same torch — and absolutely running with it. 🏃♂️💥
🥁 Enter Shane Hawkins – Keeping the fire alive
Let’s be honest — when Shane Hawkins stepped behind the drums at Wembley Stadium in 2022 for the Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert, he didn’t just play. He erupted.
His performance of “My Hero” with the Foo Fighters wasn’t just one of the most powerful moments in recent rock history — it was a passing of the torch that left the entire crowd in tears and awe. 🕊️
Since then, Shane’s been slowly carving his own path. He’s joined Chevy Metal on a handful of US dates, proving he’s not just Taylor’s son — he’s a rock ‘n’ roll animal in his own right.
And now, for the first time ever, UK fans will get to see that energy up close.
“Playing in the UK means the world,” Shane reportedly said during a rehearsal stream earlier this year. “Dad always said the British crowds were the loudest and the craziest — so we’re gonna bring it proper.”
You heard him. The boy’s ready to bring the roof down, mun. 🏴
🎸 What to expect from the show
If past Chevy Metal gigs are anything to go by, expect no setlists, no rules, and no filter. It’s all about spontaneous rock mayhem, baby. 🤘
They usually tear through classics like:
- Ain’t Talkin’ ’Bout Love – Van Halen
- Ziggy Stardust – David Bowie
- Stay With Me – Faces
- Everybody Wants Some!! – Van Halen
- War Pigs – Black Sabbath
- Under Pressure – Queen & David Bowie
- Jailbreak – Thin Lizzy
And don’t be shocked if Shane sneaks in a Foo Fighters number or two — maybe “My Hero” again or “Times Like These” — just to melt every heart in the room. 💔
Chevy Metal’s shows are 100% live-wire energy. Expect wild solos, chaotic crowd banter, and probably a few pints flying through the air.
You might even catch a few surprise guests — over the years, Chevy Metal have shared stages with Dave Grohl, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Roger Taylor himself. 👀
🧠 A quick look back: Taylor’s rock ‘n’ roll playground
For Taylor Hawkins, Chevy Metal was pure joy. No tour pressure, no big production — just mates, riffs, and a mic stand.
He once told Classic Rock Magazine:
“Chevy Metal is like the world’s most fun rehearsal that never ends. It’s about remembering why we started playing music in the first place — because it’s fun and it’s loud.”
That spirit lives on in Shane. The band is more than a tribute — it’s a continuation of Taylor’s ethos: play hard, laugh loud, and don’t take yourself too seriously.
So when the Hawkins name hits a UK stage again, it’s going to mean something — not just for fans, but for an entire generation that grew up with Foo Fighters and Taylor’s infectious grin. 🕺

💬 Fans are already losing their minds
Within minutes of the announcement, social media went off like a pyro cannon.
“Been waiting years to see Shane play live — this is gonna be special ❤️” – @DrumQueen88

“Taylor’s legacy lives on — can’t wait to scream my lungs out.” – @FooFanForLife
It’s fair to say: this isn’t just another gig — it’s a homecoming of spirit.
🕊️ A final word: Taylor would be proud
There’s something deeply poetic about it all. A son continuing his father’s musical mischief. The same band, the same songs, the same love of loudness — just the next generation behind the kit.
Taylor Hawkins wasn’t just a drummer — he was a vibe, a laugh, and a lightning bolt of energy. And now, his son’s keeping that alive in the best possible way: by rocking out and smiling while doing it.
So when Shane Hawkins hits that stage for the first time in the UK, remember:
You’re not just watching a gig.
You’re witnessing a legacy roar back to life. 💥
