Place your bids now – 27th Feb 2025

Rock ’n’ roll auctions have always been a bit bonkers, but this one takes the (mouldy) birthday cake. Two strands – yep, just TWO measly strands – of Nirvana legend Kurt Cobain’s hair are going under the hammer, with bidding opening 27th February 2025.

Collected back in the early ’90s by a mate of the band (and carefully kept safe all these years like some grunge holy relic), the hair is being flogged as part of a wider rock memorabilia sale that also includes guitars, setlists, and other iconic tat.

💰 Expected price? Somewhere between “a decent pint in Cardiff” and “a down payment on your nan’s bungalow.” Okay, realistically: thousands of pounds. Because when it comes to Cobain, fans will pay silly money for anything remotely connected to him – guitar picks, signed receipts, even half-burnt cigarette butts.

Why’s This Hair So Special?

Well, for fans, Cobain’s hair is as iconic as his flannel shirts and beaten-up Fender Mustangs. The messy blonde mop became a symbol of grunge itself – scruffy, raw, and couldn’t-care-less cool. Owning even a strand is like owning a piece of Nevermind itself.

The Auction Madness Continues…

We’ve seen some wild sales before:

  • Eddie Van Halen’s guitars going for six figures 🎸
  • Ozzy Osbourne’s stage clothes fetching more than your car 🚙
  • Even Britney Spears’ chewing gum once got auctioned (diolch but no diolch).

But Cobain’s hair? That’s one for the weird history books. Imagine explaining to your mates down the pub:

“Yeah, I spent five grand on Kurt Cobain’s hair.”
“Proper job, butt. Did you at least frame it?”

Would YOU Bid?

So, Riff Report crew – would you fork out for a couple of stray strands of Cobain’s barnet, or is this just rock ’n’ roll madness gone too far? 🤔

Sound off in the comments below – and remember, don’t try and clone him in your shed like some dodgy Jurassic Park reboot. 🧬😂
