🎤 The Snider Snarl – Dee Being Dee
If there’s one man in rock who never shuts up (and we love him for it), it’s Dee Snider. Blonde mane, banshee scream, and more opinions than Greggs has sausage rolls, the Twisted Sister frontman has made a second career out of telling it how it is.
So when word hit that KISS were doing yet another “comeback” concert this November in Las Vegas — this time “unmasked” — Dee exploded harder than a dodgy festival portaloo.
His verdict? “Insulting.” Not cheeky, not disappointing — insulting. To him, it’s an outright middle finger to the KISS Army who’ve been fed the “farewell” line more times than we’ve been told “one more song” at the end of a set.
And let’s be honest — Dee has form here. He’s roasted Vince Neil for being out of breath, sneered at pop acts getting into the Rock Hall, and even clashed with conservative politicians who once tried to silence him. This is not a man you ignore.
🎭 The Never-Ending Farewell Tour Circus
KISS’s retirement saga makes Ozzy’s “No More Tours” look like a one-off. Let’s run the tape, mun:
- 2000 – The first “Farewell Tour.” Fans forked out, cried, waved goodbye.
- 2009–2015 – Multiple “final” tours hinted at. Still touring.
- 2019 – End of the Road Tour launched, hyped as the absolute last chance to see KISS. “This is it!” said Paul Stanley.
- 2023 – Madison Square Garden gig promoted as the grand finale. Tears, fireworks, holograms. The whole shebang.
- 2025 – “Surprise! Vegas comeback show! Unmasked!” 🎭
It’s like the boy who cried wolf — except the wolf is in eight-inch platform boots and charging you £500 for a meet-and-greet. 🤑
Dee’s beef is simple: if you sell something as the “end,” you don’t come back like nothing happened. For fans who sold kidneys for “final” tickets, this feels like robbery with guitars.
💸 The Fan Wallet War
KISS aren’t just a band — they’re a business empire. From KISS coffins (yes, really) to KISS Monopoly boards, Gene Simmons has monetised every molecule of the brand. But the real sting is tickets.
Vegas shows already cost an arm, a leg, and half your pint money. Add in VIP upgrades, photo ops, signed merch… suddenly you’re in mortgage territory.
Dee’s “insult” jab lands hardest here: fans who broke the bank for those MSG “finale” gigs in 2023 now feel duped. Imagine shelling out £400 for what you thought was history — only to see another poster two years later shouting “ONE NIGHT ONLY: THE COMEBACK!”
It’s no wonder the KISS Army are split: some don’t care, they’ll keep marching forever. Others? They’re tamping, mun. Proper tamping. 😤
🥊 Dee vs. KISS: A Long Beefy History
This ain’t the first clash. Dee’s always had a rocky relationship with the glam-rock juggernaut:
- He’s mocked their endless farewell tours before.
- He’s claimed KISS cared more about merch than music.
- He’s called Gene Simmons “the Donald Trump of rock” (ouch).
- He once accused Paul Stanley of “sneering down” at other musicians.
Meanwhile, Gene and Paul usually shrug it off — probably too busy counting cash. Gene’s usual response to critics is somewhere between “you’re jealous” and “buy a t-shirt.”
But this latest rant? It’s getting traction. Because even lifelong KISS fans are starting to whisper what Dee’s shouting: “maybe it’s gone too far.”
🎸 The Legacy Question – Does It All Cheapen KISS?
Here’s the million-dollar riff: does this comeback tarnish KISS’s legacy?
On one hand:
- They’ve been running farewell scams for years.
- Critics say the magic’s gone.
- Hardcore fans feel betrayed.
On the other hand:
- KISS is spectacle. Always has been.
- Vegas is perfect for OTT pyro, fire-breathing, tongue-wagging madness.
- People will go. The demand’s still there.
Like it or not, KISS are part of rock’s DNA. You don’t erase “Detroit Rock City” or “Rock and Roll All Nite” just because Gene sold a branded lunchbox. But you can chip away at the respect — and Dee’s hammering at that chip.
🏴 Riff Report Rant Mode Activated
Here’s where we get loud:
This isn’t about KISS playing another gig. Loads of bands keep coming back. This is about honesty. When you tell fans “this is the end” and take their money on that promise, then show up again like it never happened — that is insulting.
It’s like your mate saying he’s quitting the pub forever after one last pint… then you find him on the same stool two nights later, lager in hand, acting like nothing happened. 😂
KISS are legends. But at what point does legacy become parody? How many “last times” can you sell before the KISS Army marches off in disgust?
Dee’s anger is rooted in fan respect. And you know what? Tidy move, Dee. Because someone needed to say it out loud.
📢 Fan Reactions – Divided Army
Some KISS diehards are already booking flights to Vegas. They don’t care — more KISS is better than no KISS. Others are furious, posting rants online about wasted money, broken promises, and how Dee is 100% right.
One fan wrote: “I flew across the Atlantic for MSG’s farewell. Now it’s like I paid for a lie.”
Another clapped back: “It’s KISS! You don’t stop the party just because Paul said so.”
Classic rock debate. Passionate, messy, and full of beer foam. 🍺
🤔 Final Riff (No, Not Farewell… Probably)
Dee Snider’s rant cuts to the heart of it: where’s the line between giving fans more and milking them dry?
KISS say they’re giving the people what they want. Dee says they’re spitting on loyalty. The truth’s probably in the middle — but in November, the Vegas stage will tell the story.
Will it be a triumphant encore, or the final straw in a legacy overstretched? Either way, expect pyro, tongue-wagging, and ticket prices higher than your rent.
And somewhere in the crowd, Dee will be shaking his head, arms crossed, muttering: “Insulting.”
🎧 Riff Report Verdict:
- Respect to Dee – he’s saying what a lot of us are thinking.
- KISS will still sell out Vegas – no doubt.
- Fans are divided AF – loyalty vs. outrage.
- Legacy at risk – KISS might end up remembered for comebacks, not classics.
