A Mad “What If” From The Riff Report Blog 🤘
Look, we know the internet loves a good rumour – especially when it’s got drums, Dave Grohl, and an underdog story that could shake stadium rafters. So when someone whispered the name Jorge Garrido in the same breath as Foo Fighters, we leaned in, spilled our pint, and shouted: “YESS MUN! Let’s talk about it.”
So… could Jorge Garrido be the next drummer of the Foos?
Let’s crank up the speculation amps and dive in. 🎸
🎤 First Off – Who the Hell Is Jorge Garrido?
If you’ve somehow missed him while doomscrolling through drummer reels and YouTube breakdowns, Jorge Garrido is a Spanish multi-instrumentalist, session drummer, and online wizard with hands faster than your nan grabbing the last sausage roll at Greggs.
He’s built up a loyal following with:
- Face-melting drum covers 🥁
- Razor-sharp timing 🕒
- A cheeky grin that says, “I just nailed that fill and made it look easy” 😏
The lad’s got groove, chops, and charisma. He’s also versatile AF — from hard rock and metal to funk, prog, and punk. Basically, if it’s got rhythm, Jorge can slap it silly.
🧠 Why the Internet Thinks It Could Work
Alright, let’s suspend reality and let this fantasy fly like a beer cup in the pit:
1. The Bloke’s Got Skills for Days
The Foo Fighters don’t need a robot behind the kit. They need feel. And Jorge’s got buckets of it. Whether he’s playing laid-back grooves or unleashing a monster double-kick storm, he makes it look and sound lush.
He doesn’t overplay, either — and that’s crucial when you’re following in Taylor Hawkins’ legendary footsteps. Rest in rhythm, Tay 💔
2. Young Blood, Big Energy
Foo Fighters are an arena rock juggernaut, but they’ve never felt “old.” Bringing in someone like Jorge would inject even more fire into the live show. He’s got that “I’m just happy to be here” vibe — until the sticks start flying.
Imagine him on stage at Glasto, hammering through “The Pretender” like it’s the easiest song in the world. We’d be in bits, butt. 🔥
3. The Modern Touch
Let’s face it: Jorge lives online. And while Dave Grohl might be allergic to TikTok, having a drummer with a strong digital following is not a bad look. It gets the next generation locked in.
He’s also got the personality — funny, humble, stylish in a “skater who wandered into a metal gig” kind of way.
4. Studio Weapon
Don’t underestimate how tidy Jorge sounds in the studio. Foo Fighters’ records sound massive — and you need a drummer who can bring that thunder without sounding clinical. Jorge’s got it. That natural punch, tight timing, and clean-as-a-whistle playing.
😬 But Let’s Not Get Carried Away
Alright, back down to Earth, mun.
❌ The Foos Already Have a Drummer
Since Taylor’s tragic passing, Josh Freese took up the sticks for live gigs — but Ilan Rubin (of Nine Inch Nails fame) has quietly slid into the studio setup and some live shows.
These guys aren’t just drummers. They’re seasoned industry ninjas. Touring, session work, producing, the whole shebang. And — crucially — they’re already mates with Dave. That counts for a lot.
❌ Jorge Isn’t There Yet
As good as he is (and he’s bloody brilliant), Jorge hasn’t toured the world with a mega-band yet. Jumping from YouTube jams to a headlining slot at Wembley is like going from five-a-side at the park to starting in a Champions League final.
Could he do it? Maybe.
Would Dave Grohl risk it? Hmm…
❌ Foo Fighters Stick With Their Circle
Grohl’s tight with his crew. Always has been. Most Foos members have been with him for decades. If someone new comes in, it’s likely a friend, collaborator, or someone who’s already jammed in the Foo orbit.
Jorge is more of a wildcard. Not impossible — but unlikely. For now.
🎬 Final Verdict: Could Jorge Ever Be a Foo?
Look — stranger things have happened in rock ‘n’ roll:
- A fan replaced Journey’s singer (shoutout Arnel Pineda 🎤)
- Tré Cool joined Green Day after Al Sobrante vanished like a fart in the wind
- Phil Collins played two Live Aid gigs by flying on a bloody Concorde ✈️
So yeah, Jorge Garrido could one day sit behind the Foo Fighters’ drum kit — even if just for a guest spot or a cheeky one-off show.
If that happens, we’ll be the first ones yelling,
“TIDY! HE’S ONLY GONE AND DONE IT!” 🥳
🤘 What If It Did Happen?
We’re imagining the headlines now:
📰 “Foo Fighters Tap Viral Spanish Drummer Jorge Garrido to Join Full-Time”
🎤 Dave Grohl: “The moment I saw his YouTube cover of ‘My Hero,’ I knew this dude had something.”
🤯 Fans: “Wait, the guy from Instagram is now drumming at Glastonbury?!”
💬 Jorge: “This is mad, innit? Cheers, Dave. Let’s rock.” 😎
🥁 In Conclusion… Wait, Nah, No Conclusions Here
We’re not here to wrap things up all neat and tidy. This is rock ‘n’ roll — we deal in chaos, loudness, and fantasy.
Jorge Garrido might not be the next Foo Fighters drummer. But if he ever is? You read it here first, butt. 🎤🔥
