Oi oi, glam rockers and greasepaint junkies! 🖤 Put down your Demon boots and grab the popcorn – because the KISS biopic is officially heading to Netflix, and it’s gonna be louder than a fire-breathing Gene Simmons solo at Madison Square Garden! 🔥🔥🔥
That’s right, butt – the leather-clad legends of shock rock are finally getting the full Hollywood treatment. So, let’s dive face-first into the glitter cannon and give you everything you need to know about Netflix’s KISS biopic. From the title and cast, to whether we’ll see that moment Gene tried to trademark devil horns (yes, really) – here’s the lowdown, Riff Report style. 🎤🤘
🕶️ What’s the Film Called?
The biopic is reportedly titled “Shout It Out Loud” – because of course it bloody is! 📢 Named after the classic 1976 anthem from Destroyer, it’s the perfect title for a film about the band who practically invented arena rock showboating.
It’s got that KISS flavour, that big dumb energy, and it makes you want to punch the sky in platform boots. Proper job! 🎯
🎬 Who’s Making It?
The movie is being directed by Joachim Rønning, the bloke behind Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. So yeah, he knows how to blow things up with a budget. 💣
It’s being produced by Mark Canton (300, Power Rangers) and Universal Music Group’s Polygram Entertainment, with Doc McGhee (KISS’s longtime manager) also involved. You know it’s serious when Doc’s in the room.
Netflix won the rights after a bit of a bidding war – so expect it to be front and centre when it drops. No soft launch nonsense here. It’s KISS, mun. They don’t do subtle.
🤘 What’s the Story?
“Shout It Out Loud” isn’t just a fluff piece about the band’s merch empire or blood-spitting gimmicks. It’s a proper origin story, focusing on the teenage years of Paul Stanley (real name: Stanley Eisen) and Gene Simmons (real name: Chaim Witz) as they go from NYC nobodies to the hottest band in the world. 🔥
We’re talking:
- Jewish immigrant roots 🇮🇱
- Childhood trauma 😢
- Rubbish early bands 🎸
- The formation of KISS in 1973 🗽
- Make-up, madness, and massive riffs 🎭
- And maybe even that moment Peter Criss and Ace Frehley went full chaos mode on tour 🍻
It’s not clear if the film will go beyond the early days, but even just the formation story has enough drama to fuel an entire season of Behind the Music.
🎭 Who’s in the Cast?
As of now, the cast is still under wraps tighter than Gene Simmons’ tongue muscles. 👅 But the filmmakers reportedly worked closely with Paul and Gene during casting, so expect unknowns who look the part more than big names trying to fake NYC accents.
Casting Gene Simmons alone is a bloody task – you need someone with the attitude of a Bond villain, the smirk of a game show host, and the swagger of a man who once tried to sell KISS-branded coffins (which is 100% a real thing). ⚰️🤑
📆 When’s It Out?
Netflix hasn’t confirmed a release date yet, but production was rumoured to begin in late 2024 – which means we could be seeing it sometime in 2025 if all goes to plan.
If they time it right, the film might drop near the 50th anniversary of Alive! – the live album that turned them from cult favourites into arena gods. That’d be lush, wouldn’t it? 🎉
🎨 Will It Show the Full KISS Madness?
Let’s hope so. KISS aren’t just a band – they’re a walking, fire-spewing, merchandise-flogging carnival of excess. This film could show:
- The band’s epic ‘70s tours and backstage mayhem 🛫
- The never-ending drama with Peter and Ace 😵
- Paul Stanley’s hearing struggles and resilience 💪
- Gene’s money-obsessed madcap moments (he once said love was for suckers) 💵💋
- And how KISS basically became Marvel characters with guitars 🎸🦸♂️
If they do it right, this could be part Bohemian Rhapsody, part The Dirt, with a healthy splash of glitter, gob, and greasepaint. 💄🖤
💥 What Do KISS Think About It?
Paul and Gene have reportedly been very involved in the project – they even helped shape the script. So, expect this to be their version of events (meaning maybe don’t hold your breath for Ace Frehley’s side of the story).
Still, when it comes to spectacle, no one does it bigger than KISS – and you can bet your last plectrum that they won’t let Netflix half-arse their legacy. 🎭🔥
🎸 Will We Get the Music?
Hell yes! 🎶 Netflix secured the rights to use the original KISS discography, so expect classic bangers like:
- “Detroit Rock City”
- “Rock and Roll All Nite”
- “Love Gun”
- “Deuce”
- “God of Thunder”
- And of course, “Shout It Out Loud” 💥
Whether they’re lip-synced, performed live, or worked into the score – that iconic sound will be front and centre. Tidy!
💋 Final Thoughts: Is This the KISS Biopic We Deserve?
We’ve had the Queen one, the Mötley Crüe one, the Elvis one, and even bloody Rocketman – so it’s about time KISS got the big-screen treatment. Love ‘em or hate ‘em, they changed the game when it came to rock theatrics.
This won’t be Shakespeare, butt. It’ll be power chords, pyro, and painted faces. And honestly? That’s just the way we want it.
So crank up “Hotter Than Hell”, get your Netflix login ready, and prepare to witness the origin of the most ludicrous band in history. 🎭🔥
KISS forever? Maybe not. But KISS on Netflix? YESS MUN.
