🪪 £900 VIP Tickets… and They Nearly Missed the Bloody Band?! 🎟️🫠
Welcome to the latest episode of “What Could Possibly Go Wrong?” featuring 80,000 Oasis fans, a handful of wristbands, and one very grumpy Scottish couple who dropped nearly a grand to feel special — only to be treated like extras in Trainspotting: The Festival Years. 🤯
🧨 THE VIP EXPERIENCE… WITHOUT THE ACTUAL EXPERIENCE
So here’s what went down, butt…
A couple from Scotland – let’s call them Barry and Jean – paid over £900 for what was marketed as the ultimate Oasis experience. We’re talkin’:
- Fast-track entry (spoiler: there was nothing fast about it) 🚷
- VIP bar (not if you can’t get in) 🍸
- VIP loos (the dream) 🚽
- Exclusive viewing platform (more exclusive than expected – as in, no one could actually get there) 😵💫
- And that oh-so-important VIP wristband – your gateway to feeling smug
Problem is… the wristbands ran out. RAN. OUT. Like it was Black Friday at Primark and security just said, “good luck, pal.” 🛍️
“We missed both Cast and The Verve,” Barry told The Riff Report, “and only just got in before Oasis started. We paid £900 and nearly watched it from a bin.”
Jean, clutching her glittery bum bag and half a warm Echo Falls, added:
“There were folk crying in the queue. One lad was threatening to riot. It was like Glastonbury meets Jeremy Kyle.” 😬
⏳ QUEUES, CONFUSION & “CHECK BACK IN A MINUTE”
The queue for VIP entry reportedly stretched longer than a Noel Gallagher guitar solo. And when panicked fans finally got to the front? No wristbands. Staff were apparently flapping, some shouting “come back later,” others just shrugging with that look — you know the one that says “I’m just here for minimum wage, mate.”
And these weren’t just last-minute walk-ups either. These were pre-booked, high-paying punters. One woman screamed:
“£900 and I’m queueing behind someone dressed as a Cornetto!”
Only in Manchester, mun… 🍦
🎶 MISSING THE BRITPOP WARM-UP PARTY
This wasn’t just any support slot – this was Cast and The Verve. Legends. Anthem-makers. Soundtrack-to-your-life type bands.
Missing them because of a wristband cock-up is a bigger sin than putting raisins in coleslaw. It’s like turning up to a wedding just as the buffet’s being cleared away. You were the chosen ones, VIPs – and they left you hanging like the second verse of “D’You Know What I Mean?”
💬 THE ONLINE RAGE: TAMPING DOT COM
As you’d expect, social media was on fire. 🔥
Comments ranged from:
“What’s VIP stand for? Very Incompetent Planning?”
To the more poetic:
“Queueing with the masses, £900 lighter, feeling less Champagne Supernova and more warm pint of Skol.” 🍺
One fan filmed his 45-minute wait for a wristband, ending the TikTok with:
“I could’ve flown to Spain for this price – and at least there I’d get a f***ing sangria.”
🧾 OUR VERDICT?
VIP at Heaton Park was supposed to be a bucket hat and banger-fuelled dream. But for some, it became a sunburnt stress-fest with vibes more “Live Forever?” and less “Don’t Look Back In Anger”.
At The Riff Report, we say: if you charge £900, you better have more than one bloody bag of wristbands. C’mon! That’s rookie stuff. This isn’t a raffle at the Dog & Duck.
How many fans missed the warm-up acts? How many just gave up? And how many will ever trust a VIP ticket again?
🎤 LET’S HEAR FROM YOU
Were you caught in the wristband chaos?
Did you pay through the nose only to get a view from the bogs?
Did Liam personally hand you a can of Strongbow to say sorry? (Doubt it… but we wanna hear about it anyway.)

Next time Oasis reunites? Save the cash. Climb Gallagher Hill, bring your own tinnies, and shout “I am the walrus” at a pigeon. It’s probably a better view… and it’s free.
