What should’ve been a legendary night in Cardiff – singing “Live Forever” at the top of your lungs with a pint in hand – turned into a nightmare for dozens of Oasis fans who thought they’d secured the ultimate experience: a private VIP box at the Principality Stadium. Champagne dreams turned to bitter reality as they realised… the tickets never existed. 😤🍾❌
🎟️ The Scam: Box of Lies
Multiple fans told BBC Wales that they were left “gutted” and “angry” after shelling out hundreds of pounds to a Pembrokeshire-based man named David Gray. No, not that David Gray – the mellow “Babylon” guy – but someone who’s now being accused of selling phantom tickets to excited gig-goers.
Some paid by bank transfer. Others were lured in through word-of-mouth or online group chats promising the holy grail: a VIP box with a view of Liam Gallagher and the band reunited on stage. Except… the box didn’t exist. Nor did the tickets. Nor, it seems, did Mr Gray’s good intentions. 💀
😡 “We Were Absolutely Gutted, Butt”
Fans travelled from across Wales – and even England – for this bucket-list night out. One group said they’d been planning this since the reunion was announced. “We were buzzing,” said one fan. “Liam and Noel, back in our city? Tidy as f**k!”
But when they arrived and tried to collect their box tickets… nothing. Security had no record. Their names weren’t on any list. Calls went unanswered. WhatsApp messages showed ticks… but no replies.
Cue scenes of tamping fans pacing outside the stadium in full Oasis merch, some of them in tears. It wasn’t just about the money – it was the emotional gut punch of missing out on one of the biggest gigs in Welsh history. 🥺🏟️
🕵️ Who is David Gray?
According to BBC Wales, David Gray is a business owner based in Pembrokeshire, but after this fiasco, his reputation might be more shredded than Liam’s vocal cords after a Friday night warm-up. It’s claimed as many as 100 people could’ve been duped.
Some victims are already joining forces to report him to Action Fraud and Trading Standards, while others are pushing for police involvement. If true, this could be one of the biggest ticket scams in Wales since Coldplay tried to charge £7 for a bottle of water. 💦💰
🤔 How Did It Happen?
- Most fans were told the box had been reserved by Gray’s business contacts
- No official confirmations or QR codes were sent out
- Some were told to “just turn up and your name will be on the list”
- Others only realised they were duped when they arrived on the night
It’s a classic trust-based scam – where someone seems reputable, makes promises, and disappears into the digital mist once the cash hits their account.
💬 Fan Reactions
- “We missed the whole thing. Our hotel, our travel, our money – all wasted.”
- “I couldn’t even bring myself to listen to ‘Wonderwall’ after. I was done.”
- “This was supposed to be the best night of our lives. Now we’re just trying to get justice.”
🎤 The Riff Report Verdict
We love Oasis. We love Cardiff. And we love a VIP box when someone else is paying. But this? This is just pure scumbaggery. Whoever’s responsible needs to face the music – preferably in front of a judge and jury, not a crowd of 60,000.
And let this be a cautionary tale, rockers: If it sounds too good to be true, even if it’s a lush view of Liam from a padded box, it probably is. 🤯

🤘 Final Thought
To all those who got conned: you didn’t miss the real Oasis. You missed two grown men who still haven’t hugged it out, performing songs that are nearly 30 years old… but yeah, it still sucks.
As Liam might say:
“You got a ticket to ride, but the ride never came.”
Here’s hoping refunds are found, justice is served, and Mr Gray sees some real morning glory… in court. 🧾⚖️
