Liam switched things up for Night Two at Principality Stadium – and the real fans clocked it 👀🔥
Cardiff, you lucky sods. Not only did you get two nights of a reunited Oasis roaring through the Principality Stadium like it was 1996 all over again… but you also got a cheeky setlist shake-up that had the die-hards losing their minds and scrambling to update their fan forums. 🎸🥴
It was subtle. It was slick. And it was so very Liam.
🧢 “He Won’t Change a Thing, Will He?” – Think Again…
Reunion tours usually stick to the script. You get the anthems, the lights, the perfectly timed flares going off during Don’t Look Back In Anger… but Night Two in Cardiff broke the mould ever so slightly. The kind of change that casuals might miss, but for Oasis obsessives? It was pure gold dust, mun.
During the second show, Liam swapped out the Britpop beauty Stand by Me for a grit-laced, rarely-played live version of “Fade Away” – a fan-favourite B-side from back in their Definitely Maybe era, when they were still scrapping for lager money and bar brawls in Manchester. 😎🍻
💿 “Fade Away” – Not Just a Song, A Statement 🎯
Why’s this such a big deal? Well, Fade Away ain’t just some filler track. It’s a cult classic – all youthful rage, teeth-bared riffs, and lyrics that hit like a pint glass to the face:
While we’re living, the dreams we have as children fade away… 🎵
Oof. Go on then, twist the knife in our 30-something hearts, Liam. 🥲
Fans have been begging to hear it live for years. And on July 3rd in Cardiff? They finally got their wish.
🎶 Spot the Difference – Night One vs Night Two Breakdown
Let’s get nerdy for a sec and compare the key differences from each night at Principality Stadium:
| Track # | 🗓️ July 2 – Night One | 🗓️ July 3 – Night Two |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | Stand by Me 🧡 | Fade Away 💥 |
| 11 | Some Might Say | Some Might Say (slower, groovier version) |
| 16 | Live Forever (encore) 🎤 | Live Forever (dedicated to “everyone who never gave up”) 💙 |
Everything else? Same thunderous Oasis chaos. But those small changes made it feel like a completely different gig if you were tuned in.
🗣️ The Fans Knew – And They Let It Rip
You could feel it the moment the opening riff of Fade Away kicked in. A collective “OH MY GOD” from the real heads in the crowd – the ones who spent the ’90s wearing knock-off Adidas and scribbling Liam lyrics on their school books. ✏️🔥
“I nearly lost my voice screaming when they started Fade Away – that song got me through sixth form, butt.” – Tasha from Bridgend
“Liam’s always been the wild card. I love that he threw us a curveball.” – Jake, Barry Island
“I was tamping I didn’t get tickets for the second night. Still not over it.” – Kev, Newport
🕶️ So Why the Change?
Word on the street (or maybe X, formerly Twitter 🤷) is that loads of fans held up signs on Night One begging for Fade Away. And whether it was a nod to them, or a subtle bit of spice aimed at Noel’s typical predictability, Liam delivered.
And knowing our kid, he probably just fancied shouting it again for old time’s sake. 😏
🐏 “Same Set Every Night” – Not in Cymru, C’mon Butt!
This change proves two things:
- Liam is paying attention to the fans.
- You never really know what’s coming next when Oasis are in town.
Who knows what’s coming for Manchester, Knebworth, or the rumoured Glastonbury 2026 slot? (Slide Away, anyone? 👀)
If you’ve got tickets to another date on the tour – don’t take a single track for granted. That switch might seem small, but when it’s your tune, the one that hits you in the chest like a sledgehammer made of nostalgia – it means the world. 🖤
🐝 The Legacy Lives On – And Evolves
Oasis aren’t just reliving the past on this tour – they’re reshaping it. One song at a time. One subtle move that sends fans into meltdown. And Cardiff got the first taste of that rebellion.
