Alright ya legends — Iron bloody Maiden are storming Co-op Live in Manchester, and we’re already polishing our boots, sharpening our air guitars, and prepping our stomachs for pints, pies, and proper metal mayhem 🤘
Whether you’re a seasoned Trooper or dragging your “Fear of the Dark” mate to their first metal gig, we’ve got you covered with the ultimate guide to where to eat, drink, and regroup before and after the sonic apocalypse.
Let’s dive in, like Bruce diving off the stage riser 💥
🍺 PRE-GIG PINTS – WHERE TO WARM UP THOSE VOCAL CORDS 🎤
🐝 The Marble Arch (73 Rochdale Rd)
A stone’s throw from Co-op Live, this Manc institution has Victorian vibes, tiled walls, and cracking real ales from Marble Brewery. Great for chilling with a pint of “Pint” (yes, that’s a beer) before you start screaming “Run to the Hiiiiiills!”
Vibe: Old school, proper Manc
Distance: 10–15 mins walk
Best for: Real ale fans, goth dads in denim vests
🏴 The Star and Garter (18-20 Fairfield St)
If these walls could talk, they’d scream in Mancunian. Legendary venue and boozer, full of rockers and gig-goers. Expect Maiden tees, denim kuttes, and toilets covered in band stickers.
Vibe: Dive bar heaven
Distance: 15 mins walk
Best for: Pre-gig chaos and sticky floors
🍻 The Crown and Kettle (2 Oldham Rd)
Historic pub with one of the most beautiful ceilings in the city — but you’re here for the killer craft beer list. Friendly as hell and usually rammed with gig-goers on a mission.
Vibe: Friendly chaos
Distance: 10 mins taxi or tram
Best for: Pints with personality
🍔 GRUB BEFORE THE MAYHEM – LINE THAT STOMACH 🧀
🍟 Bundobust Manchester (61 Piccadilly)
Indian street food + craft beer = tidy pre-gig fuel. Load up on vada pav, okra fries, and spice-laced bevs. Fully veggie too, so your green-haired mate will be happy.
Vibe: Cool, casual, curry-smelling heaven
Price: ££
Best for: Plant-based punks and craft beer geeks
🍕 Crazy Pedro’s (Short St)
Pizza by the slice and tequila shots — what could go wrong? Loud, colourful, and chaotic in the best way. They once did a Crème Egg pizza, so don’t expect subtlety.
Vibe: Party pizza dive
Best for: Messy eaters and giggle-fuelled group selfies
🥩 Rudy’s Neapolitan Pizza (Ancoats or Peter Street)
Rated one of the best pizzerias in the UK. Doughy, saucy goodness made with love and probably blessed by the Ghost of Ronnie James Dio (we assume).
Best for: Serious foodies and picky eaters
Tip: Book ahead, it’s always rammed!
🚨 POST-GIG RELOAD – WHERE TO UNWIND OR CARRY ON SCREAMING 🔊
🌙 YES Manchester (38 Charles St)
A multi-level bar, gig venue, rooftop terrace and pizza spot. You might stumble across another band playing after Maiden — or at least a DJ who’s slinging Sabbath and Slayer till 2am.
Best for: Extending the night with fellow metalheads
Open till: Late
Pro tip: Grab a slice and a pint, collapse onto the rooftop
🖤 Satan’s Hollow (101 Princess St)
Manchester’s infamous rock/metal nightclub — the name says it all! Goth angels, headbangers, and the occasional Iron Maiden cosplay. And yes, it has a GIANT devil statue inside. Tidy.
Best for: Full-blown afterparty energy
Open till: 3am
Music: Metal, punk, emo, chaos
🛏️ Need a Chill Spot Instead?
- Night & Day Café (Great vibe, chilled drinks, open late-ish)
- The Refuge (Fancy cocktails but still rock-friendly)
- Your mate’s Travelodge corridor (We’ve all been there)
🧭 HANDY MAIDEN FAN TIPS – MANCHESTER STYLE
- Arrive early – Co-op Live is brand new and shiny but still sorting queues. Give yourself time to find your seat and grab merch.
- Pre-load your Co-op Live wallet app thing – some bars are cashless, and no one wants to miss “The Trooper” because of card issues!
- Toilet dash tip – sneak out during the ballads (sorry “Blood Brothers”) for shorter loo queues.
- Lost your voice? – There’s a Boots at Manchester Piccadilly for emergency throat lozenges the morning after.
🤘 FINAL THOUGHTS FROM THE TROOPERS OF THE NORTH
Manchester knows how to party — and when Iron Maiden rolls into town, the city turns into a fortress of riffs, pints, and pure heavy metal legend. Whether you’re smashing curry in Ancoats or necking pints under a devil statue at Satan’s, there’s no wrong way to do this night.
So raise your horns, charge your phones, and warm up that neck for some serious headbanging. IRON MAIDEN IS HERE.
UP THE IRONS, MANCHESTER! 🏴⚔️🔥
