Ooh, Netflix fwends! Will, Simon, Jay and Neil are officially reuniting for The Inbetweeners 3 — and filming is already underway in the UK.
Sound the car horn, hide the briefcase and keep Jay away from the internet because Britain’s most gloriously hopeless friendship group is heading back to our screens.
Netflix has officially confirmed that The Inbetweeners 3 is now in production, continuing the story of the enormously popular Channel 4 sitcom and its two record-breaking films.
Even better, there are no suspicious replacements or shiny young reboots here. The original four lads are back, older and presumably just as catastrophically useless as ever.
🤝 The Original Inbetweeners Are Reuniting
Returning for another beautifully awkward adventure are:
- Simon Bird as Will McKenzie
- James Buckley as Jay Cartwright
- Blake Harrison as Neil Sutherland
- Joe Thomas as Simon Cooper
That’s right, butt — the complete original gang is getting back together more than a decade after The Inbetweeners 2 unleashed its Australian chaos upon cinemas.
We can only imagine what Jay has supposedly achieved during those missing years. International football career? Undercover work for MI6? Personal trainer to the stars? First British bloke to pull a mermaid?
Whatever he claims, we already know it definitely didn’t happen.
🎬 The Show’s Creators Are Back Too
Original creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris will write and direct the new film, giving fans hope that the reunion will retain the same painfully funny spirit that made the series such a British comedy favourite.
The pair said they had enjoyed spending time with their old friends again and promised to work hard to ensure there would be “no problemos” while making the film.
That already sounds dangerously close to something Jay would say moments before everything goes spectacularly wrong.
The movie will be produced by Claire Jones, alongside Banijay’s Patrick Holland and Fudge Park Productions’ Mark Lesbirel.
🚗 Simon’s Legendary Yellow Fiat Is Back
Netflix revealed the comeback by putting the four lads inside Simon’s unforgettable yellow Fiat Cinquecento — complete with that magnificent red passenger-side door.
Forget Will, Simon, Jay and Neil. The biggest surprise is that the car has somehow survived.
That battered little motor has endured failed dates, disastrous journeys, terrifying driving and more teenage embarrassment than any vehicle should reasonably be expected to tolerate.
Seeing the gang squeezed back inside it instantly brings back the classic Inbetweeners atmosphere. The lads might be adults now, but the car suggests their lives haven’t exactly moved forwards.
🤔 What Will The Inbetweeners 3 Be About?
Netflix has not revealed the plot yet, leaving fans free to imagine what kind of disaster could reunite the foursome.
Could it be a wedding that descends into carnage? A disastrous family holiday? A painfully awkward school reunion? Or has Jay organised another suspiciously cheap trip based entirely on information supplied by a bloke he met down the pub?
The possibilities are endless.
The real attraction will be seeing how these characters have handled adulthood. Have they built respectable careers and stable relationships, or are they still stumbling through life with the confidence of four teenagers trying to get served at a nightclub?
Our money is firmly on the second option.
👀 Will Other Familiar Characters Return?
Netflix has only confirmed the four central cast members so far.
There is currently no official word on whether other familiar faces — including Carli, Charlotte, Patrice, Will’s mum or the terrifying Mr Gilbert — will appear in the film.
Mr Gilbert walking back into Will’s life after all these years could produce enough emotional damage to power an entire trilogy.
For now, fans will have to wait for further casting announcements as filming continues.
🏆 From Rudge Park to British Comedy Royalty
The Inbetweeners originally ran for three series between 2008 and 2010, following four ordinary sixth-form students attempting to survive school, friendship, family life and their spectacularly unsuccessful pursuit of romance.
Unlike the impossibly glamorous teenagers usually found in television dramas, these four looked and behaved like people we actually knew.
Most viewers either identified with Will, Simon, Neil or Jay — or recognised with absolute horror that they had been all four at different moments.
The combination of brutal embarrassment, ridiculous lies, teenage insecurity and endlessly quotable dialogue turned the programme into a massive success.
Its first feature film arrived in 2011, sending the gang on a chaotic post-school holiday to Malia. The movie became a huge box-office hit and was followed by The Inbetweeners 2 in 2014, which took their particular brand of disaster to Australia.
Now, twelve years after that second film, the boys are finally heading back into action.
📅 When Will The Inbetweeners 3 Be Released?
Netflix has not announced an official release date.
Production began in the UK on 7 September 2026, meaning the film is officially happening rather than simply existing as another reunion rumour floating around social media.
Until Netflix reveals more, fans will have to remain patient, rewatch the original episodes and practise giving their mates an enthusiastic thumbs-up whenever they enter the room.
🤘 The Riff Report Verdict
Revivals can be risky, especially when the original show captured such a specific moment in its characters’ lives. However, bringing back the complete central cast alongside Damon Beesley and Iain Morris gives The Inbetweeners 3 a proper fighting chance.
The big question is whether the comedy can successfully move beyond teenage disasters and find something equally funny in the nightmare of adult life.
Judging by the state of Simon’s Fiat, we don’t need to worry about the gang becoming too successful or sophisticated.
Will still looks uncomfortable. Simon still looks worried. Neil still looks confused. Jay is almost certainly still lying.
The Inbetweeners are officially back, mun — and this could be absolutely bloody brilliant.
