Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee is swapping drum risers for horror convention halls this October as he prepares to make his first-ever convention appearance at Son Of Monsterpalooza 2026.

Well, this is a crossover we can absolutely get behind.

Tommy Lee, legendary drummer and founding member of Mötley Crüe, will make a rare fan appearance at Son Of Monsterpalooza in Burbank, California, on 10 October 2026.

The event will take place at the Marriott Burbank Convention Center, with Tommy available for both autographs and professional photo opportunities.

And apparently this will mark his first convention appearance.

Forty-five years of Mötley madness, spinning drum kits, hotel destruction, stadium shows and general rock ’n’ roll chaos…

And now Tommy Lee is finally entering the convention circuit.

Better late than never, eh?

🎃 Tommy Lee Meets The Horror Crowd

On paper, Tommy Lee appearing at a horror convention actually makes a ridiculous amount of sense.

Mötley Crüe have never exactly been known for subtlety.

Leather.

Fire.

Blood.

Pentagrams.

Motorcycles.

Explosions.

Pyrotechnics.

And enough hairspray during the ’80s to punch a fresh hole in the ozone layer.

Stick all that next to monsters, horror effects and elaborate makeup and suddenly the crossover doesn’t feel strange at all.

It feels inevitable.

Fans attending Son Of Monsterpalooza will have the chance to meet Tommy, have personal items signed and pose for professionally taken photographs.

Anyone hoping for the full experience should note that event admission is required separately before purchasing a professional photo opportunity.

And those photos don’t automatically come with an autograph either.

So yes, convention mathematics has officially entered the chat.

📸 Autographs And Photo Ops Available

Tommy’s autograph sessions will allow fans to bring along their own personal items to be signed for an additional fee.

That could mean albums.

Drumsticks.

Tour programmes.

Mötley Crüe memorabilia.

Or possibly that copy of The Dirt that’s somehow survived years of being repeatedly lent to mates.

Professional photo opportunities will also be available during the event.

For anyone who has ever wanted photographic evidence that they stood next to the bloke responsible for the drum intro to Wild Side, this is apparently your moment.

👹 What Is Son Of Monsterpalooza?

If you’re wondering what exactly Tommy Lee has wandered into, Monsterpalooza has been running since 2008 and has grown into one of the biggest gatherings dedicated to horror, monsters and special-effects makeup.

Demand eventually became so high that organisers launched a smaller autumn event, Son Of Monsterpalooza, in 2012.

And “smaller” is relative.

The event features more than 150 exhibitors, covering everything from professional makeup and practical effects equipment to collectable statues, vinyl toys, artwork and all manner of beautifully weird horror-related goodness.

Basically, if your house already looks like Dracula has opened a branch of Forbidden Planet in the living room, you’re going to be in serious financial trouble.

🥁 Tommy Lee’s Wild Career

Tommy Lee hardly needs much introduction around these parts.

As the drummer and co-founder of Mötley Crüe, he helped build one of the most notorious rock bands ever to stagger out of Los Angeles.

Alongside Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx and Mick Mars, Lee became part of the classic Crüe line-up responsible for albums including:

Shout At The Devil.

Theatre Of Pain.

Girls, Girls, Girls.

And the gigantic Dr. Feelgood.

His drumming style, larger-than-life personality and spectacular live performances became central to the band’s identity.

And then there were the drum kits.

Normal drummers tend to sit behind theirs.

Tommy Lee spent years apparently asking:

“But what if the drum kit went upside down?”

Then:

“What if it travelled over the audience?”

Then presumably:

“What if gravity itself can get stuffed?”

Few drummers have turned the simple act of hitting things with sticks into such an elaborate health-and-safety discussion.

🔥 More Than Mötley Crüe

Outside Mötley Crüe, Tommy has spent decades throwing himself into other musical projects.

He founded Methods Of Mayhem, explored electronic music and released numerous solo records while collaborating with artists far beyond the traditional hard-rock world.

He’s also become a television personality in his own right, appearing in programmes including Tommy Lee Goes To College and Battleground Earth alongside Ludacris.

Basically, sitting still has never really been his thing.

Even after decades in the business, Lee continues to bounce between music, television and whatever strange creative rabbit hole takes his fancy next.

Apparently horror conventions are now part of that list.

🎸 Mötley Crüe Still On The Road

Tommy’s convention appearance comes during another busy year for Mötley Crüe.

The band launched The Return Of The Carnival Of Sins North American tour in July 2026, celebrating an incredible 45 years of Mötley Crüe.

Forty-five years.

It’s honestly astonishing they survived the first five.

The band’s history makes most rock biographies look like parish newsletters.

Yet Mötley Crüe continue rolling on, with generations of fans still turning up to hear songs like Kickstart My Heart, Dr. Feelgood, Home Sweet Home, Looks That Kill and Girls, Girls, Girls.

Whatever you think of the chaos surrounding them over the decades, there’s no denying the Crüe catalogue remains absolutely packed with rock anthems.

🤘 THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT

Tommy Lee at a horror convention?

Yeah, that works.

Actually, we’re amazed it hasn’t happened before.

The worlds of hard rock, metal and horror have always been closely connected, whether through album artwork, stage theatrics, music videos or the simple fact that both communities enjoy turning up dressed like absolute lunatics.

And Tommy Lee has spent four-and-a-half decades comfortably existing somewhere between rock star and cartoon supervillain anyway.

For fans attending Son Of Monsterpalooza, this is a rare chance to meet one of rock’s most instantly recognisable drummers away from the giant stadium spectacle.

Just remember:

Event ticket.

Autograph ticket.

Photo ticket.

Wallet crying quietly in the corner.

Rock ’n’ roll, baby.

Tommy Lee hits Son Of Monsterpalooza in Burbank on 10 October 2026. Get those Crüe records ready. 🤘🎃🥁
