Thunder frontman Danny Bowes is heading back out on the road in 2027 – but this time there’s no setlist, no script and absolutely no guarantee where the night is going to end up.

And frankly, that sounds bloody brilliant. 🤘😂

The legendary British rock vocalist has announced his new ‘Under Pressure’ UK tour, a run of completely improvised live shows taking place throughout April 2027.

Rather than arriving armed with a carefully rehearsed script and a collection of stories told exactly the same way every evening, Danny is handing control over to the people sitting in front of him.

The audience.

Yep. This could get dangerous. 😈

Questions from fans will determine the direction of each performance, meaning every single night of the tour will be different.

For Thunder fans who have spent decades wanting to ask Danny that question, this could finally be their chance.

🎤 What Exactly Is ‘Under Pressure’?

‘Under Pressure’ takes the traditional spoken-word format, grabs it by the ankles and gives it a proper shake.

Danny Bowes has already demonstrated through his previous ‘Maximum Chat’ shows that he is more than capable of entertaining a room without needing a wall of Marshall amps behind him.

But for 2027, he’s taking things another step further.

Instead of simply incorporating an audience Q&A section into the evening, the questions become the show itself.

There will be no conventional script guiding Danny through proceedings.

The audience asks.

Danny answers.

And wherever the conversation goes after that is anybody’s guess.

Expect stories.

Expect rock ’n’ roll memories.

Expect Thunder tales.

Expect unexpected tangents.

And knowing the sort of questions rock fans are capable of asking after they’ve had a couple of pints, expect Danny occasionally wondering why he agreed to this in the first place. 😂🍺

Friday 23 April 2027
📍 Colchester – Town Hall

Saturday 24 April 2027
📍 London – Leicester Square Theatre

Twelve nights.

Twelve audiences.

And potentially twelve completely different shows.

🔥 No two nights should be the same.

⚡ The Audience Is Basically Writing The Setlist

That’s what makes ‘Under Pressure’ such an interesting idea.

At a normal Thunder gig, fans spend weeks wondering what songs might appear in the set.

Will they play Dirty Love?

Will Love Walked In appear?

What about Backstreet Symphony?

This time the question isn’t:

“What songs will Danny perform?”

It’s:

“What the hell are people going to ask him?” 😂

And Danny Bowes has been around long enough to have plenty of stories.

We’re talking about decades spent travelling around the world, making records, playing enormous festivals, dealing with the madness of the music industry and fronting one of Britain’s most beloved rock bands.

There must be enough material knocking around inside that head to keep these shows going until closing time.

🤘 More Than Three Decades Of Thunder Stories

Of course, Danny Bowes is best known as the unmistakable voice of Thunder.

Formed in 1989, Thunder became one of Britain’s great rock success stories, arriving just as the musical landscape was preparing to change dramatically.

Their 1990 debut album ‘Backstreet Symphony’ remains an absolute monster of British rock.

Songs including:

🎸 Dirty Love
🎸 Backstreet Symphony
🎸 Love Walked In
🎸 Higher Ground

helped establish Thunder as one of the country’s finest hard rock bands.

Rather than disappearing when alternative rock and grunge transformed the musical landscape during the 1990s, Thunder built an incredibly loyal following that has remained with them for decades.

And anyone who has ever seen the band live knows exactly why.

Thunder gigs aren’t simply performances.

They’re gatherings.

Danny has always possessed that rare ability to make a massive venue feel like he’s chatting to a room full of mates.

Which makes an audience-driven show like ‘Under Pressure’ feel almost tailor-made for him.

❤️ Danny Bowes’ Remarkable Return

There is another reason these shows will feel particularly special.

In August 2022, Danny suffered a stroke, beginning a long and difficult road to recovery.

For fans who had followed Thunder for decades, the news was devastating.

But Danny’s determination, combined with huge support from family, friends, bandmates and the rock community, has seen him continue moving forward.

His return to public appearances and spoken-word events has therefore carried an emotional weight far beyond the usual rock ’n’ roll storytelling evening.

Every appearance is another reminder of just how far he’s come.

And seeing Danny travelling around Britain again, sitting on a stage and swapping stories with fans is something worth celebrating.

Properly. ❤️🤘

😂 Imagine The Questions…

The dangerous part of giving rock fans control of an evening is that rock fans have absolutely no filter.

You just know somebody somewhere is already preparing a question they’ve been waiting 30 years to ask.

“How did Dirty Love actually come together?”

“What was the maddest Thunder tour?”

“What’s the worst gig you’ve ever played?”

“Which Thunder member is the biggest pain in the arse?”

“What really happened backstage at…?”

Danny:

“Next question.”

😂😂😂

That’s exactly what could make these shows so entertaining.

One evening might become deeply reflective.

Another could disappear down a rabbit hole of touring disasters.

Another might turn into two hours of Danny telling stories nobody expected him to tell.

That’s the beauty of it.

🎤 Maximum Chat… Maximum Chaos

Fans who attended Danny’s previous ‘Maximum Chat’ shows will already know how naturally he fits into the spoken-word environment.

Rock musicians accumulate stories.

Lots of them.

Tour buses breaking down.

Hotels.

Airports.

Festivals.

Record labels.

Backstage disasters.

Recording sessions.

Band arguments.

Ridiculous interviews.

Even more ridiculous after-show parties.

After decades in the business, Danny Bowes has lived through an enormous chunk of British rock history.

‘Under Pressure’ gives fans the opportunity to decide which parts of that history they want to hear about.

That’s a cracking concept.

🎟️ A Very Different Kind Of Rock Show

Don’t arrive expecting pyro.

Don’t expect a drum riser.

Don’t expect Luke Morley appearing from behind a Marshall stack.

And definitely don’t start a circle pit in the Leicester Square Theatre.

Actually…

Knowing Thunder fans, maybe we shouldn’t rule anything out. 😂

What audiences can expect is something far more intimate.

A room.

A microphone.

Danny Bowes.

And potentially several hundred people trying desperately to get their question answered.

There is something brilliantly old-school about that.

No massive production.

No elaborate gimmicks.

Just one of British rock’s great frontmen telling stories about an extraordinary career.

🖤 Thunder Fans – This One Could Be Special

For anyone who has followed Thunder through the decades, ‘Under Pressure’ feels like more than another tour announcement.

It’s an opportunity to spend an evening with Danny Bowes away from the enormous volume and spectacle normally associated with rock shows.

And because the performances are completely driven by audience questions, there is a genuine reason why fans might even want to attend more than one date.

Glasgow could be completely different from Manchester.

Manchester could be completely different from Bristol.

And London?

Christ knows what London will ask. 😂

🤘 The Riff Report Verdict

We absolutely love this idea.

Rock history isn’t only preserved through albums, photographs and documentaries.

It’s preserved through stories.

And sometimes the best stories are the ones that only appear because somebody in the audience asks the right question.

Danny Bowes has spent decades at the heart of British rock ’n’ roll, and ‘Under Pressure’ gives fans the opportunity to start digging through that enormous vault of memories.

No script.

No predetermined route.

No two shows exactly alike.

Just Danny, an audience and several decades of rock ’n’ roll history waiting to be unlocked.

🔥 April 2027 could be maximum chat, maximum unpredictability and maximum Bowes.

And we’re absolutely here for it.

Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. 🤘🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳
