Buckle up, butt — because the masked madmen of Des Moines have just dropped a financial nuke bigger than a keg-drum explosion. Slipknot have officially struck a whopping $120 million deal to sell their music catalog to HarbourView, the mega-investment company currently scooping up iconic artist rights like they’re Pokémon. 🤑🎸
And aye, mun… that’s a LOT of zeros for a band whose songs literally sound like someone drop-kicking a hornet’s nest into a blender. Tidy!
🤯 WHAT EXACTLY DID SLIPKNOT SELL?
HarbourView now hold the rights to a massive portion of Slipknot’s recorded output — meaning the investment firm gets a slice of all the money when tracks like “Duality,” “Before I Forget,” “Psychosocial,” and “Wait and Bleed” appear in films, games, adverts, TikTok edits, or anything else that makes your nan say, “Why is that man screaming?”
To be clear:
The band still exists, still tours, still melts faces.
They’ve just cashed in on the past — and mate, that past is worth pure gold.
💰 WHY SELL NOW?
Music catalogs are the new gold rush. Big firms are spending billions buying up the rights to legendary artists: Queen, Springsteen, Stevie Nicks… and now Slipknot have joined the high-rollers table.
For the band?
It’s a chance to secure the future, fund new ventures, and maybe even pay for the therapy we all need after listening to Iowa straight through at 2am. 😅
For HarbourView?
It’s an investment into a band with one of the most loyal, unhinged fanbases on Earth. Maggots don’t stream — they devour.
🤘 WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR FANS?
Good news:
Nothing’s changing.
Slipknot aren’t suddenly going acoustic, releasing Christmas albums, or letting HarbourView decide mask designs (imagine the boardroom for that — “Can we make it… friendlier?”).
But you might start hearing iconic ’Knot riffs turning up in:
- Horror movie trailers
- Wrestling shows
- Game soundtracks
- Adverts that absolutely should not be using Slipknot (imagine Halifax using “People = Sh*t” in a mortgage ad — only in Wales, mun…)
🎤 WILL THIS AFFECT NEW MUSIC?
Not likely. The deal focuses on existing recordings — so new Slipknot albums, singles, or chaotic experiments involving power tools and scrap metal are still 100% in the band’s hands.
If anything, a fresh injection of £££ could fuel a creative renaissance.
C’mon butt — you know they’re cooking SOMETHING. 🔥
🥁 WHY THIS DEAL MATTERS (AND WHY IT’S MASSIVE)
Slipknot selling their catalog for $120M puts them in elite company. It proves what fans always knew:
These aren’t just masked maniacs.
They’re one of the most influential heavy bands of the last 25 years.
From underground chaos to nine-man global machine — this deal is a proper “treat them with respect” moment from the music industry.
And honestly?
Good for them.
Good for metal.
Good for the legacy.
Proper job, boys. 🤘🔥
🩸 FINAL THOUGHT: SLIPKNOT JUST MADE METAL HISTORY (AGAIN)
They’ve got the masks.
They’ve got the madness.
Now they’ve got £100-odd million in the bank.
And somewhere, Clown is already plotting how to turn that into the world’s largest flaming keg-drum pyramid.
Diolch and goodnight, mun. 🖤🔥
