The Iron Maiden frontman, airline pilot, fencer, author, brewer, motivational speaker, and all-round heavy metal renaissance man has dropped a bombshell: he’s got 18 songs demoed for his next solo album, and he plans to record it in 2026.
Yup — just when you thought The Mandrake Project had scratched Bruce Dickinson’s solo itch, the man himself has revealed he’s already bursting with riffs, ideas, and insane lyrical concepts. If anyone’s earned the title “Air Raid Siren,” it’s Bruce, and he’s still flying high.
🎤 Bruce in 2025: The Mandrake Legacy
Before we look forward, let’s take a quick glance back. The Mandrake Project, released in 2024, wasn’t just an album — it was a cinematic, comic-book-fuelled prog-metal odyssey. With Roy Z back on guitar duties and a band firing on all cylinders, Bruce delivered:
- 10 tracks of gothic metal theatre (from the pounding “Afterglow of Ragnarok” to the dark balladry of “Shadow of the Gods”).
- A conceptual tie-in comic series, diving into occult conspiracies, science gone mad, and Bruce’s love of storytelling.
- A world tour that saw him hit everywhere from São Paulo to Sofia, proving his voice is still volcanic at 66.
Most singers his age are chilling on their yachts or selling wine with their name on the bottle. Bruce? He’s out there writing operatic metal epics about cosmic chaos and fencing backstage for a laugh. C’mon butt, proper job. 🏴
🎶 18 Songs in the Vault – What’s Occurring?
So, what exactly do we know? Here’s the skinny:
- 18 songs demoed — that’s basically two albums’ worth.
- Dickinson said he wants to get them recorded in 2026, right after Maiden finish their Future Past touring cycle.
- Expect Roy Z in the mix. The partnership that gave us Accident of Birth and The Chemical Wedding is legendary, and Bruce trusts him with his solo sound.
- Bruce hasn’t said if it’ll be one record or two, but fans are already whispering about a possible double-album monster.
“I’ve got 18 tracks demoed already, and I want to get them recorded in 2026. There’s a lot of creative stuff going on, and I don’t want to leave it sitting on the shelf.” – Bruce Dickinson
⚔️ A Quick Stroll Through Bruce’s Solo History
Bruce’s solo career is a mad ride of reinvention. Let’s riff through it, shall we?
- Tattooed Millionaire (1990) 💰
Cheeky glam-tinged hard rock. Written fast, mostly to get away from Maiden’s No Prayer vibe. Features the underrated “Born in ’58.” - Balls to Picasso (1994) 🎨
Transitional. He dabbled with Tribe of Gypsies and found his groove. “Tears of the Dragon” still slays live. - Skunkworks (1996) 🛸
The grunge/alt-rock experiment. Fans were split, but tracks like “Back From the Edge” show his adventurous streak. - Accident of Birth (1997) 💥
BOOM. Roy Z + Adrian Smith join the fold. A heavy, dark, metallic rebirth. - The Chemical Wedding (1998) 🔮
A masterpiece. Dense riffs, alchemy-inspired lyrics, and arguably Bruce’s best solo work. Fans still scream for “Book of Thel.” - Tyranny of Souls (2005) 👑
Written largely through email exchanges with Roy Z (before it was cool). A bit more compact, but gems like “Navigate the Seas of the Sun” shine. - The Mandrake Project (2024) 📖
The theatrical return. Dark, ambitious, and tied to a full graphic novel universe.
Now we stand on the edge of Album #8 (or #9 depending how you count Skunkworks). And Bruce has more songs ready than ever before.
🤘 What Could These New Songs Sound Like?
Bruce hasn’t spilled the beans on the track names yet, but knowing his history, we can speculate.
Likely Ingredients:
- Epic storytelling — He’s obsessed with history, mythology, and science, so expect tales of explorers, alchemists, or dystopian futures.
- Roy Z riffage — Thick, meaty guitar tones, mixing Maiden’s gallop with Sabbath-like crunch.
- Prog leanings — After Mandrake, Bruce clearly loves long, theatrical pieces. Don’t be shocked if a few tracks clock in at 10 minutes.
- Ballads with bite — Every Bruce album has a slower number with an emotional punch (Tears of the Dragon, Navigate the Seas of the Sun).
Wild Fan Theories:
- A sequel to The Chemical Wedding — Alchemy Part II?
- A full-on sci-fi rock opera, complete with narrations.
- A stripped-back, raw rock record — because Bruce always likes to surprise.
🎤 The Live Factor: Will Bruce Tour Again?
Absolutely. Bruce has never been one to sit still. His 2024–25 Mandrake tour proved he’s still a maniac on stage — running, leaping, bantering, and hitting high notes most singers half his age can’t.
A 2026 album means a 2027 tour is likely, giving him another chance to play theatres, arenas, and maybe even festivals outside the Maiden machine.
And let’s be honest, seeing Bruce in a smaller venue belting “Tears of the Dragon” or “Accident of Birth” is lush as chips.
🦅 Why This Matters for Metal Fans
Bruce Dickinson isn’t just a singer — he’s one of metal’s great storytellers. Every solo album gives us a glimpse of what’s rattling inside his head when he’s not doing Maiden duties.
- Fans craving more personal, experimental Bruce get fed.
- It keeps Maiden fresh — when Bruce comes back, he’s buzzing with ideas.
- It proves heavy metal’s elder statesmen are still writing, not just recycling the old hits.
In a world where rock icons are hanging up their boots, Bruce is writing enough songs for two albums at once. That’s a win for us all.
🍻 Fan Reaction So Far
The announcement lit up forums and socials:
- Some are already joking he’s going to drop an 18-track concept about fencing and beer brewing.
- Others are praying for a live DVD of the next tour.
- One fan quipped: “If he can fly a plane and record a double album in the same year, I’ve got no excuse for not finishing my dissertation.”
Proper inspiration, mun.
