San Diego metallers Cascade Effect are preparing to kick 2027 squarely in the teeth with their full-length album The Weight Of Nothingness, arriving worldwide on 8 January 2027 through Eclipse Records.
Across a hefty 13 tracks, the five-piece dive headfirst into mortality, fear, isolation, regret, artificial intelligence and humanityโs endless search for meaning โ all delivered through a bruising collision of deathcore, groove metal, melodic death metal, progressive atmosphere and nu metal.
In other words, this isnโt exactly an album about sunshine, puppies and having a lovely afternoon down the pub.
Itโs heavy music tackling heavy subjects.
And Cascade Effect appear determined to make every bloody riff count.

Coming out of San Diego, Cascade Effect arenโt interested in comfortably occupying one corner of the metal universe.

The track explores isolation and those intrusive thoughts that have an unpleasant habit of becoming considerably louder during the loneliest hours of the night.

The world has gone quiet.
You should be asleep.
Instead, your brain has decided this would be the perfect opportunity to replay every questionable decision youโve made since approximately 2007.
Cheers, brain.
Musically, that psychological darkness gives Cascade Effect plenty of room to move between crushing heaviness and more emotionally charged moments.
Itโs an important part of the bandโs approach throughout The Weight Of Nothingness.
Brutality is only half the equation.

Matthew Denis, whose credits include work with Nothing More, Greywind and Diamante, handled engineering and mixing at Skylit Sound and Total Access.
Mastering duties were handled by Miro Kiiski at Miro Mastering, whose credits include Hypocrisy, PAIN and Beast In Black.
The album artwork comes courtesy of Dustin Keimig, who also happens to be standing behind the microphone as Cascade Effectโs vocalist.
