Sunday – Main Stage – 7:50pm

As the sun began to sink behind the spectacular Brecon Beacons, Steelhouse Festival 2026 welcomed one of the most entertaining bands of the weekend to the Main Stage.

At 7:50pm, Alien Ant Farm burst onto the stage with all the swagger, humour and infectious energy that has made them festival favourites for more than two decades.

From the opening riff, it was clear this wasn’t going to be a laid-back Sunday evening.

It was going to be absolute chaos.

Massive singalongs.

Huge riffs.

Circle pits.

Crowd surfers.

And enough smiles to light up the Welsh mountain.

Alien Ant Farm reminded everyone exactly why they’ve remained one of the most exciting live bands in rock.

🎤 Dryden Mitchell Had the Crowd in the Palm of His Hand

Frontman Dryden Mitchell was simply brilliant.

His unmistakable voice sounded fantastic throughout the set, effortlessly moving between melodic verses, explosive choruses and moments of playful banter with the Steelhouse crowd.

Dryden never stopped moving.

He sprinted across the stage, danced, laughed with the audience and made every person in front of him feel part of the show.

His charisma was infectious.

The crowd loved every second.

It was impossible not to smile watching him perform.

🎸 Riffs That Took Us Straight Back to the 2000s

Alien Ant Farm have always had a knack for writing riffs that stick in your head for days.

Live, those riffs sounded even bigger.

The guitars were crisp, punchy and packed with energy, while the rhythm section locked everything together with relentless precision.

Every song had the crowd bouncing.

Every chorus became louder than the last.

It was a perfect reminder of why the band became one of the defining names of alternative rock.

🥁 Tight, Powerful and Full of Fun

Behind the frontman, the rest of the band were exceptional.

The bass lines punched through every song, the drums drove the performance with explosive energy and the chemistry between the musicians was obvious from the very first note.

This wasn’t a band going through the motions.

They looked like they were having the time of their lives.

That enthusiasm spread through the audience instantly.

🤘 Circle Pits and Crowd Surfers Everywhere

If the atmosphere wasn’t already electric, Alien Ant Farm took it to another level.

The moment the heavier riffs kicked in, circle pits exploded into life across the front of the Main Stage.

Fans raced around with huge smiles, picking each other up every time someone stumbled.

Then came the crowd surfers.

One after another they floated towards the barrier, carried safely across a sea of raised hands while security worked flat out to keep up.

It was loud.

It was chaotic.

It was exactly what a Sunday evening festival crowd should look like.

🎶 Hit After Hit Had Steelhouse Singing

Alien Ant Farm’s set was packed with songs that instantly transported fans back to the early 2000s.

Every familiar riff was met with huge cheers, but when “Movies” arrived, the audience erupted into one giant singalong.

Then came the moment everyone had been waiting for.

The unmistakable opening of “Smooth Criminal.”

The entire Steelhouse crowd exploded.

Thousands of voices sang every word, fists punched the air and the Welsh mountains echoed with one of the biggest choruses of the weekend.

It was one of those magical Steelhouse moments that nobody in attendance will ever forget.

🌄 A Perfect Steelhouse Sunset

As the daylight faded over the Brecon Beacons, Alien Ant Farm delivered the perfect soundtrack to the evening.

The combination of timeless songs, spectacular scenery and an audience completely lost in the music created one of the most memorable atmospheres of the entire festival.

This was Steelhouse at its absolute best.

🔥 Still One of the Most Entertaining Bands Around

Years may have passed since Alien Ant Farm first burst onto the scene, but judging by this performance, they’ve lost absolutely none of their spark.

Their songs still sound fresh.

Their stage presence remains world class.

Most importantly, they still know exactly how to make a festival crowd have the time of their lives.

🎪 One of Sunday’s Biggest Parties

As the band took their final bow, the applause was deafening.

Fans were still singing as the stage lights dimmed.

Friends hugged.

Pints were raised.

Everyone left knowing they’d just witnessed one of the most fun-filled performances of Steelhouse Festival 2026.

🍻 The Riff Report Verdict

Alien Ant Farm delivered everything you could want from a festival headline-level performance.

Huge songs.

Outstanding musicianship.

A charismatic frontman.

Circle pits.

Crowd surfers.

And one of the biggest singalongs of the entire weekend when “Smooth Criminal” shook the Welsh mountains.

This was nostalgic, energetic and ridiculously entertaining from beginning to end.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (10/10)

🔥 The Riff Report Highlights

  • 🎤 Dryden Mitchell’s charismatic and energetic performance
  • 🎸 Huge alternative rock riffs and infectious melodies
  • 🥁 Tight musicianship across the entire band
  • 🤘 Circle pits and crowd surfers throughout the set
  • 🎶 Massive singalongs to Movies and Smooth Criminal
  • 🏔️ One of the most entertaining performances of Steelhouse Festival 2026

🤘 The Riff Report Says…

“Alien Ant Farm didn’t just take us back to the early 2000s—they reminded us why we fell in love with these songs in the first place. With circle pits spinning, crowd surfers flying and thousands of fans screaming every word to ‘Smooth Criminal’, this was pure festival magic. Loud, nostalgic and outrageously fun… Steelhouse loved every single minute. Absolutely class, mun!” 👽🎸🏔️🔥

Michael

Michael

🎸 About Michael Michael is the founder, editor and chief riff wrangler of The Riff Report, an independent Welsh rock, metal and alternative music publication built by fans, for fans. A lifelong rock and metal fan, Michael has spent years immersed in the music, culture and community that surround the heavier side of life. From discovering new bands and digging through classic albums to standing in muddy festival fields, squeezing into packed venues and spending far too much time near the front of a stage, music has always been much more than background noise — it is a massive part of who he is. That passion eventually became The Riff Report, a publication created to celebrate the bands, artists, venues, festivals, photographers, promoters and fans who keep the rock and metal world turning. Michael spends much of the year covering gigs, festivals, tours, album releases, new singles, interviews and music news, with a camera never too far away and a press pass usually hanging somewhere around his neck. Whether it is a huge arena show, a major outdoor festival or a tiny grassroots venue packed with people discovering their new favourite band, he believes every part of the scene has stories worth telling. For Michael, one of the biggest joys of music journalism is being able to shine a light on artists at every level. The Riff Report is just as interested in the hungry independent band playing to 50 people as it is in the global act headlining to 50,000. Supporting unsigned, independent and grassroots musicians is a huge part of the publication’s identity, because every legendary band started somewhere. Sometimes the next big thing is not on a massive billboard or a major-label playlist — sometimes they are crammed onto a tiny stage in a pub, plugging in their own gear and hoping somebody in the room remembers their name. Michael wants The Riff Report to be one of the places that remembers.
