Construction kicked off back in 2019, then the world went full dystopian box-set and Covid hit pause on everything. But in March 2022, the doors finally opened and Swansea officially levelled up. ๐ฅ๐ฅ
ยฃ48 million later โ as part of Swansea City Councilโs ยฃ135m Copr Bay glow-up โ weโve now got a purpose-built 3,500-capacity arena sitting pretty on the waterfront.
And fair playโฆ itโs lush.

If youโve walked past it at night, youโll know exactly what we mean.
That massive wrap-around LED screen on the front?
Itโs rocking 93,000 LEDs and is officially the biggest of its kind in the UK.
It doesnโt just light up โ it announces itself.
Like, โHELLO SWANSEA, WE BROUGHT PYRO.โ ๐๐ฅ
Itโs the kind of thing youโd expect in Manchester or Londonโฆ but nope. Itโs ours. Only in Wales, mun.

For a venue thatโs only been open four years, itโs already clocked up some serious names.

The venue is owned by Swansea City Council and managed by ATG on a 30-year lease.
And as of January 2025, naming rights kicked in โ meaning itโs officially the Swansea Building Society Arena for at least the next five years.
Weโll still call it โthe Arenaโ when weโre trying to find our mates outside, mind.
