Kris Barras has announced that he will step away from music for the foreseeable future following the Kris Barras Band’s upcoming October 2026 UK tour, bringing an extraordinary 11-year chapter to a close after taking his band from blues-rock beginnings to the upper reaches of the UK album charts.

This one is going to sting.

After more than a decade of albums, festivals, relentless touring, huge riffs and a musical evolution that took the Kris Barras Band far beyond its blues-rock beginnings, Kris Barras has confirmed that the forthcoming Monsters We Made Tour will be his last before he steps away from music.

Importantly, Barras hasn’t described this as an irreversible retirement.

His words are “for the foreseeable future.”

But for fans who have followed KBB’s remarkable rise over the past 11 years, October’s tour suddenly carries considerably more emotional weight.

Barras says there isn’t one dramatic reason behind the decision. Instead, at 41, he wants greater financial security, more time at home with the people he loves and the opportunity to pursue new challenges after achieving considerably more through music than he ever expected.

🖤 ‘This Next KBB Tour Will Be My Last’

Barras shared the news with fans after what he described as a huge amount of thought.

Looking back over the past 11 years, he thanked the people who supported him and the band, describing the journey as something he could never have achieved without them.

And then came the line that will probably become the unofficial motto for these final shows:

“One last time. Let’s make it fucking loud.”

Yeah.

October is going to be emotional.

🎸 This Isn’t A Story About Falling Out Of Love With Music

What makes Barras’ announcement particularly striking is that it hasn’t arrived after years of inactivity or an obvious decline.

Quite the opposite.

The Kris Barras Band have just released their sixth studio album, Monsters We Made, which arrived on 14 August 2026 through Earache Records. The record continued the band’s progression from blues-rock into a much heavier modern hard-rock sound built around huge choruses, riffs and arena-sized ambition.

Only a short time ago, Barras was discussing the new album and looking forward to getting back on the road.

Now those shows will become a farewell — at least for the foreseeable future.

Sometimes life changes quickly.

🔥 Eleven Years Of Kris Barras Band

The Kris Barras Band formed in 2015.

What began as something considerably more modest grew into one of British modern rock’s most successful grassroots stories.

The albums kept coming:

Lucky 13.

The Divine And Dirty.

Light It Up.

Death Valley Paradise.

Halo Effect.

And now Monsters We Made.

Across those records, you can hear the band gradually getting heavier.

The blues remained somewhere underneath.

But the guitars got bigger.

The production became more muscular.

The choruses increasingly sounded designed for enormous rooms.

And eventually KBB were sitting much closer to modern hard rock than the traditional blues-rock scene where many fans had first discovered them.

⚡ Halo Effect Took Things To Another Level

The commercial breakthrough became impossible to ignore with Halo Effect in 2024.

The album reached Number 5 on the UK Albums Chart and topped the UK’s Rock & Metal Albums Chart, giving the band its biggest chart success and confirming that years of touring and audience-building were paying off.

That’s important context for Barras’ decision.

This isn’t someone stepping away because nothing happened.

Quite the opposite.

He reached levels he’d never expected when he started the band.

Which makes his comments about wanting more financial security especially revealing about the realities of being a working musician.

💷 Success Doesn’t Always Mean Security

There’s a wider music-industry conversation hiding inside this story.

From the outside, things can look enormous.

Chart positions.

Festival appearances.

Packed headline shows.

Major support slots.

Albums receiving national radio attention.

But touring professionally is expensive.

Crews need paying.

Fuel costs money.

Hotels cost money.

Vehicles cost money.

Production costs money.

Agents, management, merchandise, rehearsals and recording all cost money.

A successful career and a financially secure life aren’t automatically the same thing.

Barras hasn’t presented his decision as an attack on the industry, but his desire for greater financial stability is a reminder that even musicians who appear to be doing very well can face difficult long-term choices.

🥊 His Route Into Music Was Never Conventional Anyway

Kris Barras has never exactly followed the normal career manual.

Before becoming known as a guitarist and frontman, he spent years as a professional mixed martial arts and Muay Thai fighter.

His professional fighting career took him around the world, including periods training and competing internationally.

Eventually, music became the main event.

And considering how far KBB eventually travelled, that switch worked out fairly well.

From professional fighting to a Top Five UK album isn’t exactly the standard career path.

LinkedIn would struggle with that one.

🎸 Guitar Was There Long Before The Fighting

Music wasn’t something Barras discovered after his fighting career.

He’d been playing guitar since childhood.

His musician father introduced him to the instrument at a young age, and Barras performed his first gig while still a child.

So although MMA became a serious professional chapter, music had always existed alongside it.

Eventually the guitar won.

For more than a decade, it became his livelihood.

🔥 From Blues-Rock To Something Much Heavier

Longtime Kris Barras fans have witnessed a pretty dramatic musical transformation.

Early records sat much more comfortably within contemporary blues-rock.

But Barras never seemed interested in remaining trapped inside a genre simply because that’s where audiences first found him.

The guitars became heavier.

The riffs became darker.

The production got bigger.

Influences from modern metal and alternative hard rock moved increasingly close to the surface.

By Halo Effect, anyone expecting a polite blues record was probably checking they’d put the correct album on.

And Monsters We Made continued that trajectory.

🐺 Monsters We Made Now Becomes An Unexpected Final Chapter

That gives the band’s latest album an entirely different significance.

Released only weeks before Barras announced his plans, Monsters We Made now stands as potentially the final Kris Barras Band studio album of this chapter.

The 11-track record includes:

  1. Monsters We Made
  2. Beautiful Lie
  3. Riot Of One
  4. Unspoken
  5. All Falls Down
  6. Alive
  7. Otherside
  8. Fake
  9. Rewind
  10. End Of Me
  11. Levitate

Barras described the creative intention behind the record as going after big singalongs, big riffs and big solos — the kind of modern hard rock capable of filling considerably larger spaces.

Knowing what we know now, some of those titles suddenly look strangely poignant.

🎤 One Final Kris Barras Band UK Tour

The Monsters We Made Tour will now serve as Kris Barras Band’s final UK run before Barras steps away.

The nine-date tour begins in Southampton on 7 October and finishes in Barras’ home territory of Torquay on 16 October.

🎟️ Kris Barras Band – Final UK Tour Dates

7 October 2026 – Southampton – The 1865

8 October 2026 – Nottingham – Rescue Rooms

9 October 2026 – Glasgow – The Garage

10 October 2026 – Hull – The Welly

11 October 2026 – Cambridge – MASH

13 October 2026 – London – The Garage

14 October 2026 – Manchester – Club Academy

15 October 2026 – Wolverhampton – KK’s Steel Mill

16 October 2026 – Torquay – The Foundry

American alternative-metal band 10 Years are joining KBB as special guests on the tour.

🏠 Finishing In Torquay Feels Appropriate

That final scheduled date carries particular significance.

Barras is closely associated with Devon, so bringing the tour to an end at The Foundry in Torquay feels like an appropriately personal conclusion.

There are going to be plenty of emotional shows during this run.

That last one?

Good luck keeping your eyes dry.

Especially once the final song ends and everyone realises there isn’t another KBB tour waiting around the corner.

🤘 And Then There’s Supersonic Blues Machine

Barras’ career has also extended well beyond his own band.

He became part of Supersonic Blues Machine, the blues-rock collective featuring bassist/producer Fabrizio Grossi and which has worked with an extraordinary list of guest musicians.

Through that world, Barras has shared musical space with players including Billy Gibbons, Steve Lukather, Warren Haynes, Robben Ford and Walter Trout.

Not bad company.

When you start your band thinking it’ll basically be a weekend project and eventually find yourself working around musicians from ZZ Top and Toto, you can probably safely say things escalated.

🎶 Hollow Souls Added Yet Another Side

More recently, Barras also launched Hollow Souls alongside multi-instrumentalist and producer Josiah J Manning and vocalist Phoebe Jane.

The project allowed Barras to reconnect with another side of his blues and roots influences while KBB continued heading into heavier territory.

That made the timing of his announcement all the more surprising.

Creatively, he appeared to have several plates spinning at once.

For now, however, Barras’ statement covers stepping away from music, rather than merely ending Kris Barras Band.

That makes October feel like a much broader farewell.

❤️ Fans Have Been Central To The Whole Journey

Barras’ message repeatedly returned to gratitude.

And that’s understandable.

Kris Barras Band is a textbook example of the relationship between grassroots British rock bands and the fans who physically turn up.

Not simply streaming something once.

Buying albums.

Buying shirts.

Travelling to gigs.

Showing up early.

Supporting festival appearances.

Telling their mates.

Coming back for the next tour.

British rock doesn’t survive through algorithms alone.

It survives because somebody decides they’re driving three hours to Wolverhampton on a Thursday night to watch a band they love.

KBB built exactly that kind of audience.

🎸 He Leaves Behind A Proper Body Of Work

Whatever happens next, Barras isn’t walking away wondering whether he ever gave music a proper shot.

Six studio albums.

Major tours.

Festival stages.

Chart success.

International performances.

Collaborations with genuinely legendary musicians.

And a musical evolution that refused to simply keep making the same blues-rock album forever.

That’s a serious body of work.

Particularly for something that started as a side project.

🚪 ‘For The Foreseeable Future’ Leaves One Important Door Open

And here’s the phrase fans will inevitably cling to:

For the foreseeable future.

That isn’t the same as saying never again.

Maybe Barras eventually misses the stage.

Maybe life changes.

Maybe another musical project becomes impossible to ignore.

Or maybe he discovers he’s perfectly happy doing something completely different.

Right now, nobody knows.

And that seems to be the point.

He’s earned the opportunity to find out.

🔥 But First, Nine Shows Remain

Before any new chapter begins, there is unfinished business.

Southampton.

Nottingham.

Glasgow.

Hull.

Cambridge.

London.

Manchester.

Wolverhampton.

Torquay.

Nine opportunities for fans to celebrate eleven years of music.

Nine nights to sing the songs.

Nine nights to make those riffs count.

And one final chance to see the Kris Barras Band while we know they’re still here.

🤘 THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT

This is a difficult announcement for British rock.

Kris Barras Band have spent the last decade doing things the proper grassroots way.

Album by album.

Gig by gig.

Festival by festival.

Fan by fan.

They moved from the blues-rock circuit into heavier territory, reached the UK Top Five and developed into one of the most recognisable modern rock acts to emerge from the UK scene.

And now, at 41, Kris Barras has decided there are other things he wants from life.

Greater security.

More time at home.

The people he loves.

New challenges.

It’s difficult to argue with any of that.

Rock ’n’ roll mythology loves pretending musicians should sacrifice absolutely everything until they physically can’t continue.

Real life is considerably more complicated.

So October isn’t about mourning what might have been.

It’s about celebrating what actually happened.

Six albums. Eleven years. Thousands of miles. Countless gigs. One hell of a journey.

And when Kris Barras Band walk onto those stages for the final run?

You know the instructions.

One last time.

Make it fucking loud. 🎸🔥🖤
