When riffs meet rhymes, chaos reigns supreme… and we bloody love it. 🤘😎
Wait… Rap and Metal?
Oh aye, butt. It’s not just Linkin Park shouting over scratching decks anymore. When done right, metal and rap together is like pouring Buckfast on a bonfire – unpredictable, intense, and absolutely banging. Whether it’s nu-metal bangers or unlikely collabs that melt your ears and fry your brain, these heavy rap-metal mashups are the best of the best.
So throw on your baggiest jeans, strap on that wallet chain, and prepare to headbang AND nod along. Let’s goooo 🧢🔥🎸
💣 1. Public Enemy & Anthrax – “Bring the Noise” (1991)
The OG. The godfather. The “Oi, what is this madness?” moment.
This track defined rap-metal. Chuck D’s ferocious delivery matched Anthrax’s thrash riffs like a pitbull on a Harley. It didn’t just blur genres – it obliterated the lines entirely.
“Metal and rap? In ’91? Tidy work, lads.” 🏴
⚡ 2. Linkin Park & Jay-Z – “Numb/Encore” (2004)
Collision Course was the soundtrack to every teenager’s MySpace page. Jay-Z’s smooth bars over Chester’s angsty howl? Perfection. This wasn’t just a mash-up. It was a revolution.
“Can I get an encore? DO YOU WANT MORE?!” – Still gets the crowd going.
🔥 3. Body Count – “Cop Killer” (1992)
Ice-T formed a metal band. Let that sink in.
He didn’t just dabble – he went full-on Slayer-level heavy with Body Count, tackling social issues with bone-crunching breakdowns. “Cop Killer” caused a political firestorm and still slaps like a riot shield to the jaw.
Only in the ‘90s could a rapper-turned-metal-vocalist cause actual Senate hearings…
🎭 4. Run-D.M.C. & Aerosmith – “Walk This Way” (1986)
Okay, okay – it’s more hard rock than metal, but let’s not split hairs. This collab dragged both genres kicking and screaming into MTV history.
It wasn’t just iconic – it was seismic.
Without this tune, we probably wouldn’t even have rap-metal. Respect the classics. 🎩
☠️ 5. Limp Bizkit & Method Man – “N 2 Gether Now” (1999)
Fred Durst and Method Man? Yes, this actually happened.
While Durst shouted about break stuff, Meth brought flow and finesse. It’s the sound of two worlds colliding and just… kinda vibing in a weird, chaotic harmony.
It’s messy. It’s nu-metal. It’s very 1999. And it slaps. 💥
🤘 6. Rage Against the Machine – Literally Everything (1992–2000)
Yeah, we’re cheating a bit. But c’mon.
Zack de la Rocha’s politically charged bars over Tom Morello’s riff wizardry? Rage didn’t collab with rappers – they were the blueprint for rap-metal. “Killing in the Name” is still the anthem for telling authority where to shove it.
“F*** you, I won’t do what you tell me!” – a lyric, a lifestyle, a tattoo waiting to happen. 🎤🔥
💀 7. Tech N9ne ft. Serj Tankian – “Straight Out the Gate” (2013)
Tech N9ne goes demonic gospel metal with none other than Serj from System of a Down. It’s eerie, theatrical, and absolutely thunderous. Serj’s operatic howl elevates this track into a full-blown sonic apocalypse.
Metal meets horrorcore. And it’s lush. 😈
🧨 8. Korn & Ice Cube – “Children of the Korn” (1998)
Two icons, one chaotic masterpiece. Korn’s down-tuned, swampy guitar filth with Ice Cube’s no-nonsense flow? YES PLEASE. It’s got attitude, riffs, and enough teenage angst to power an entire Hot Topic.
Also, that title pun is low-key brilliant. 🌽
🎸 9. Faith No More – “Epic” (1989)
Mike Patton ain’t a traditional rapper, but the cadence on “Epic” says otherwise. That slinky verse-to-explosion format paved the way for everyone from Korn to Twenty One Pilots. You want it all but you can’t have it? Relatable AF.
Fun fact: They were doing rap-rock before it was cool. Or uncool. Or cool again. 😅
🐺 10. Beastie Boys – “Sabotage” (1994)
Another genre-bender. Are they rapping? Screaming? Fighting a telegraph pole? Who cares – this song is pure chaos with a grunge edge. And the bassline alone could incite a riot.
The music video is pure cop-drama fever dream. ICONIC. 🎬
🔪 11. Slipknot & Yelawolf – “My Name Is Doom” (Unofficial Leak, 2021)
This track never officially released, but it lives online like a ghost in the machine. Corey Taylor’s snarls with Yelawolf’s slick drawl over a doom-laced beat? Honestly, it’s a crime this wasn’t on an album.
File under: “Wait, this actually goes HARD” 🤯
🌪️ 12. Hollywood Undead – “Undead” (2008)
Half rap, half metal, all chaos. These masked misfits took the baton from Linkin Park and threw it straight into a monster truck rally. “Undead” is the soundtrack to your rebellious inner teenager smashing bins at midnight.
Is it art? Is it cringe? It’s both. And we LOVE it. 💀🧢
🎧 Honourable Mentions:
- P.O.D. – “Boom”
- Papa Roach – “Born for Greatness” (ft. Machine Gun Kelly live)
- Downset – “Anger”
- Kid Bookie ft. Corey Taylor – “Stuck in My Ways”
- Hacktivist – everything they’ve done, ever 🖥️🪓
Final Riff 🤘
Rap and metal are two genres built on rebellion, attitude, and flipping the bird to the status quo. When they collide, it’s not always pretty – but when it works, it’s unforgettable.
So crank it loud. Distort your speakers. And next time someone says “those genres don’t mix,” just show them this list… and walk away in slow motion.
YESS MUN! 🎤🔥
