AC/DC fans in Toronto have been dealt a proper gut-punch after the rock legends’ upcoming show at Rogers Stadium was officially cancelled following severe storm damage to the venue.

The Australian giants were due to bring their enormous POWER UP Tour to Toronto on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, but following engineering inspections of the stadium, organisers have confirmed that the concert simply cannot safely go ahead.

And judging by the damage caused by the storm, this isn’t your standard bit of soggy Canadian weather we’re talking about.

Parts of the venue now need to be removed and completely rebuilt.

⛈️ What Happened At Rogers Stadium?

Severe weather battered Toronto on 2 September, bringing extreme winds and heavy rainfall to the area.

Rogers Stadium was hit particularly hard.

The 50,000-capacity outdoor venue suffered significant structural damage, including major damage to sections of its grandstands and seating.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

But with AC/DC scheduled to roll into town just two weeks later, there was immediately one massive question:

Could the stadium possibly be repaired in time?

Unfortunately for thousands of AC/DC fans, the answer is no.

🚨 Engineers Determine Stadium Cannot Host The Show

Following the storm, engineers carried out a detailed assessment of Rogers Stadium alongside the City of Toronto.

The findings weren’t exactly encouraging.

Sections affected by the weather will reportedly have to be removed and rebuilt, meaning the venue simply cannot safely accommodate tens of thousands of concert-goers on 16 September.

Safety has therefore won out — quite rightly — and the AC/DC concert has officially been cancelled.

Not postponed.

Not moved to another evening.

Cancelled.

⚡ AC/DC – Toronto Show Cancelled

❌ CANCELLED

📅 Wednesday, 16 September 2026
📍 Rogers Stadium
🌎 Toronto, Ontario, Canada
🎸 AC/DC – POWER UP Tour

The concert had been expected to bring another enormous crowd to Rogers Stadium as AC/DC continued the latest leg of their mammoth world tour.

Instead, the damaged venue’s 2026 concert season has come to a rather miserable premature ending.

🏟️ Could The Concert Have Been Moved?

Organisers reportedly investigated whether there was any possibility of keeping AC/DC’s Toronto appearance alive by relocating the concert.

Unfortunately, finding another venue capable of suddenly swallowing an AC/DC-sized audience isn’t exactly like moving your mate’s pub gig from the Dog & Duck to the Red Lion.

We’re talking tens of thousands of fans.

The necessary production infrastructure is enormous, as are the logistics surrounding transport, security, staffing, staging and everything else involved in putting on one of the world’s biggest rock tours.

No suitable alternative could ultimately be secured.

That means Toronto loses the show completely rather than seeing it shifted elsewhere in the city.

💰 What Happens To AC/DC Tickets?

There’s at least some straightforward news for disappointed fans.

Anyone who purchased an original ticket through Ticketmaster will receive an automatic full refund.

Fans do not need to submit a separate refund request for those original purchases.

The money will be returned through the original payment method.

Anyone who purchased a resale ticket will instead need to contact the company or seller through which they bought it for information regarding their refund.

So if you were heading to Toronto, it’s definitely worth checking exactly where your ticket came from.

🌪️ An Extraordinary Storm

The weather event responsible for the destruction appears to have been far from ordinary.

A suspected microburst brought extreme winds and torrential rainfall to the area, with the storm described by the stadium’s meteorological team as an exceptionally rare event for Toronto.

Images emerging after the storm showed the scale of the damage, with sections of seating badly twisted and damaged.

This wasn’t a case of replacing a few signs, tightening a couple of bolts and shouting, “She’ll be right.”

Major rebuilding work is required.

And when you’re potentially putting 50,000 rock fans into a temporary outdoor stadium, taking chances simply isn’t an option.

🏗️ Rogers Stadium Now Faces Major Repairs

Attention will now turn towards getting Rogers Stadium repaired ahead of its next concert season.

The venue sits on the former Downsview Airport lands and only opened in 2025, making the level of damage particularly unfortunate for such a new concert destination.

Repair work will involve removing and rebuilding the affected sections before crowds are allowed back inside.

Organisers say the aim is to have the stadium ready to safely welcome concert-goers again next summer.

So while the AC/DC show has become the unfortunate casualty of the storm, the bigger job now is making absolutely certain the venue is structurally ready before another gigantic audience walks through the gates.

⚡ A Brutal Blow For Canadian AC/DC Fans

For AC/DC fans, this one properly stings.

The POWER UP Tour has been one of rock’s biggest touring spectacles, with Angus Young and company continuing to prove that few bands on Earth can make a stadium erupt quite like AC/DC.

Thousands of fans had been counting down to Toronto.

Flights will have been booked.

Hotels reserved.

Travel plans arranged.

Annual leave probably negotiated with a boss who doesn’t understand why seeing Angus Young duck-walking across a stage is an entirely legitimate reason for disappearing to Canada.

And now, less than a week before the concert, it’s gone.

But ultimately, there’s no guitar riff powerful enough to argue with structural safety.

🤘 The Riff Report Says…

This is absolutely rotten news for everyone who had tickets.

When you’ve spent months looking forward to seeing AC/DC, discovering that Mother Nature has effectively drop-kicked your gig into oblivion isn’t exactly how you want your week to go.

But there’s only one sensible call when engineers determine that parts of a 50,000-capacity stadium need rebuilding:

Nobody goes inside until it’s safe.

Concerts can happen again.

Tours can return.

Buildings can be repaired.

You don’t gamble with the safety of tens of thousands of people just because the opening chords of ‘Back In Black’ are waiting in the wings.

So Toronto’s POWER UP party is unfortunately over before Angus Young even gets the chance to plug in.

Here’s hoping Rogers Stadium gets repaired safely — and that AC/DC find their way back to Toronto somewhere down the road.

Because after this one?

Toronto definitely deserves another shot at being Thunderstruck. ⚡🤘

Keep it loud. Keep it heavy. Keep supporting live music.
