From studio lock-ins to live mayhem, youโve been doing it the right way โ so letโs get into it.
๐ค THE INTERVIEW
1๏ธโฃ For anyone discovering you for the first time โ who are naked sunday , where are you from, and what sort of noise are you making?
We are Naked Sunday four piece rock band from the west midlands Uk , naked Sunday make hard rock and Harmonies with some anthemic numbers
2๏ธโฃ How did the band originally form โ and was it smooth sailing or absolute chaos from day one?
Naked Sunday got together in 2018 after a change in line up with our Awesome Drummer we were a three piece then we got Alex on Guitar and from that day weย agreed to stick as a solid 4 , working together and also hanging out together
3๏ธโฃ Describe your sound to someone whoโs never heard you โ without using genre labels.
Our sound is music from the heart, harmonies together which works so well. The music takes you on various journeys to sad days, happy days and music that is good mentally for the soul, there is a song to suit every mood J
4๏ธโฃ What bands or artists first lit the fuse for you growing up?
In my teenage years for myself was definitely the emo phase like Funeral for a Friend , My Chemical Romance ,the singer Martin is definitely GNR and Michael Monroe, Liam our drummer is a massive Foo Fighters fan which got him into drumming and Alex Guitars loves Killing Joke and Primus we have a great diverse mix which helps brings different elements into our song writing
5๏ธโฃ Youโve released Muthafucker โ how are you feeling about it now that itโs out in the wild?
Itโs definitely a wild number called Muthafucker with a music video .Itโs out shortest single at only 2 minutes long .Great fun to play live and if your having a bad day itโs great to sing the chorus and get it off your chest, a bit like breaks tuff my Limp Bizkit, someoneโs you just need a good angry song to shout it out of your system.
6๏ธโฃ Pick one track from your current releases that best represents the band right now.
Donโt give up on the dream , completely different from Muthafucker, it has a country vibe and is exactly about the song title never give up on your dream and follow your passion .
7๏ธโฃ How do songs usually come together in Naked Sunday
we work in various ways ,sending WhatsApp messages with riffs, beats or lyrics to see if we can come up with something before the next rehearsal Jamming in rehearsals, or discussing songs whilst having a band social.
8๏ธโฃ When youโre locked away in the studio, whatโs the vibe like โ intense focus or organised chaos?
There is a lot of focus , tea and coffee consumed .We do keep ourselves entertained by telling dad jokes mainly martinย ๐คฃ, then we sit together to work on harmonies vocals , and celebrate with a few beers after.
๐ฅ LIVE GIGS, BEST NIGHTS & ABSOLUTE DISASTERS
9๏ธโฃ Be honest โ whatโs the bandโs go-to food and drink in the studio ?ย
We all love a good cheese and onion cob J and love our real ales,ย cans of Red stripe has got messed before with Liam and Laura when we played Teddy Rocks Festival ,free drinks they did piggyback and ended up on the floor ,Laura was passed out by 6pm and Liam by 8pmย ๐คฃ. Best gigs was at KK steel Mill we all got super excited to have showers in our dressing rooms, Alex wore a Kilt and forgot boxers underneath ,so we had to get Liamโs dad to buy him some boxers before we hit the stage
๐ What does a Naked Sunday live show feel like from the stage?
Naked Sunday shows are always energetic and great fun. We get the audience involved with us and we never know what Martin is going to do next ,from doing pull ups if there is a bar to holding onto, standing on anything he can . To the bassist Laura who never stops moving a pulls some awesome bass moves ,to Liam drumming his heart out proving awesome harmonies and our guitarist Alex providing awesome riffs and getting into the zone
1๏ธโฃ1๏ธโฃ Whatโs the best gig youโve ever played โ and what made it so special?
KKs steel Mill has been one of our highlights , incredible stage and so much room to move around that was awesome,ย also Rock n Blues festival as we were on the same bill as The Wildhearts and that was incredible
1๏ธโฃ2๏ธโฃ Have you ever had a gig go wrong before you even hit the stage?
Yes when we played Metal Monocle in Leicester,ย once we found somewhere to park , Martin was getting equipment out the back of the car. His house keys dropped out his pocket and straight down the drain , our friends Borderline band where trying to help and was going to create a line with a hook to get the keys out as we couldnโt lift the drain. Another member from Borderline band said have you tried lifting it up from the side which workedย ๐คฃ,martin then had to put his hands down the drain and got through so much handheld ,it was a bit chaotic but they make the best memories and is a standing joke Martin thereโs a drain watch out.
1๏ธโฃ3๏ธโฃ Whatโs the smallest, weirdest, or most unexpected place youโve played a show?
One of the quirkiest venues which we love playing is Percyโs Cafe in Whitchurch , full of taxidermy,ย antiques ,they have a Tiger room and the lighting rig is inside aย Waltzer car, there is always something new to spot, and there are so passionate about live music and get an incredible sound and light show hilghy recommend this venue.
1๏ธโฃ4๏ธโฃ Any gigs where everything went wrongโฆ but the crowd saved it?
When we played Teddy Rocks festival for the second time we were on the outside stage, and the weather was not on outside, however a lot of rockers braved the rain and stayed for the set even though they were soaked, the stage floor was soaked but we still made the most of it and had great fun.
1๏ธโฃ5๏ธโฃ Which venue, city, or festival always delivers for you?
Stoke is a great creative place with passionate music lovers, having played The Sugarmill , Riff Factory studios and the underground we always love playing their. Glasgow when we played an acoustic set at New Hell Fire shop ,all their family and friends made us very welcome and introduced us to Bucksfast ,the night got a bit hazy ,but we were very well looked after. Giffest at the Giffard arms in Wolverhampton always very welcomed and our acoustic shows always go down a storm .
1๏ธโฃ6๏ธโฃ Is there a gig moment that still gets talked about in the band now?
When we performed at Teddy Rocks which had The Darkness as headliners that was an awesome gig and people were so happy we were on that bill.
1๏ธโฃ7๏ธโฃ Pre-gig rituals: what has to happen before you walk on stage?
If we get time grab a bite to eat , quick beer and catch up with our supportersJ , always a last minute weeย ๐คฃ
1๏ธโฃ8๏ธโฃ Whatโs the one thing that can instantly kill the vibe at a live show?
People talking whilst bands are performing especially at acoustic gigs , louder gigs you can get away with it but not for acoustic
1๏ธโฃ9๏ธโฃ Do you write songs with live crowds in mind?
Absolutely we love to get the audience involved joining in singing especially with our song unbreakable
2๏ธโฃ0๏ธโฃ Dream support slot or festival booking โ who are you sharing the stage with and where?
Download festival would be incredible to perform at ,as we attend it regularly.ย Support slot with The foo fighters would be Liamโs dream, and Michael Monroe who gives a high energetic performance.
๐ถ THE BIGGER PICTURE
2๏ธโฃ1๏ธโฃ After the noise, the sweat, and the adrenaline โ how do you chill as a band once the gigโs over?ย
After the gig we have had some awesome after showย drinks with our supporters, itโs always great fun and a great community if we donโt have to travel back. If we do need to travel back its unwind at home and take the show in and talk about what was our favourite song from the set.
2๏ธโฃ2๏ธโฃ Whatโs the biggest lesson youโve learned so far as a band?
To write the music you believe in , donโt be afraid to experiment with music andย donโt be afraid to be yourself.
2๏ธโฃ3๏ธโฃ The rock and metal scene runs on community โ who do you want to shout out?
To everyone that supports our music ,attends our gigs, shares and believes in our music we couldnโt do it without you all. The rock and metal scene has a great community and thatโs what keeps bands going ,music brings people together and you make so many friends in this community.
2๏ธโฃ4๏ธโฃ Whatโs the ultimate goal for naked Sunday?
To keep creating music we want to create , explore new music venues and festivals .
2๏ธโฃ5๏ธโฃ Whatโs coming next โ new music, tours, festivals, or secrets youโre not allowed to spill yet?
We have a new single coming out on the 30th October with a music video called Muthafucker and looking forward to that coming out .Also a horror film coming out in 2027 which features some of our musicย ,but I canโt say anymore about thatย ๐คญ
2๏ธโฃ6๏ธโฃ Finish this sentence: โIf you like your rock/metal loud, honest, and played like it means something, you should check out naked sunday because its heartfelt,ย passionate and anthemicโย ๐ฅ
