London Promoter Steps Away From Merauder Show Following Backlash Over Jorge Rosado Social Media Reposts

The sold-out Merauder show is still set to go ahead, but one of the London promoters involved has stepped away following controversy surrounding social media activity attributed to vocalist Jorge Rosado.

Well then. This one has become considerably more complicated than your average night of riffs, breakdowns and bodies flying across a hardcore venue. 😬🤘

A London promoter has announced that it is stepping away from Merauder’s upcoming show following backlash surrounding controversial social media reposts attributed to frontman Jorge Rosado.

Despite the promoter’s decision to distance itself from the event, the sold-out concert is still expected to take place.

The promoter has also said that a portion of the proceeds connected with the show will be donated to Stop Hate UK and Gendered Intelligence in response to the situation.

It’s a development that has sparked plenty of discussion across the hardcore community — and given the nature of the controversy, it’s one that deserves a bit more care than simply chucking petrol onto the social-media bonfire.

🎤 What’s Happened?

Merauder are veterans of the New York hardcore and metal crossover world, with the band building a formidable reputation through their crushing combination of hardcore aggression and metallic riffing.

However, attention surrounding the upcoming London appearance has shifted away from the music following criticism of social media content reportedly reposted by vocalist Jorge Rosado.

The material prompted backlash online and subsequently placed those involved with the London show under scrutiny.

Rather than continuing its involvement as normal, one of the promoters associated with the event has now chosen to step away from the show.

Importantly, that does not mean the gig itself has been cancelled.

The concert has already sold out and, according to the information surrounding the situation, is still due to proceed.

So, essentially:

Promoter steps away. Gig stays on.

Welcome to another completely normal day in the world of live music, butt. 😵‍💫

💷 Portion Of Proceeds To Be Donated

Alongside withdrawing from involvement, the promoter has said that a portion of the proceeds will be donated to two organisations: Stop Hate UK and Gendered Intelligence.

Stop Hate UK works to challenge hate and discrimination while supporting people affected by hate crime.

Gendered Intelligence is a UK charity working with trans people, particularly young trans people, as well as families, organisations and communities.

The decision to make the donations appears to be the promoter’s attempt to respond directly to concerns raised following the controversy.

Rather than simply deleting a poster, switching off the notifications and pretending the internet hasn’t been on fire for the past few days, the promoter has publicly taken a position and attached a financial contribution to that response.

Whether people believe that response goes far enough will inevitably be a matter for individual fans.

And judging by how quickly arguments explode across social media these days, we’re guessing there’ll be approximately 47 different opinions before everyone has finished their morning Greggs.

🤘 The Merauder Show Is Still Going Ahead

One important detail needs emphasising because these situations can become confusing incredibly quickly online:

The Merauder concert has not been cancelled.

The show remains scheduled to take place despite the promoter withdrawing.

That distinction matters.

A promoter removing themselves from an event isn’t automatically the same thing as a venue cancelling the concert or the artist pulling out.

For fans already holding tickets, the current position is therefore that the sold-out performance remains on unless another announcement says otherwise.

As always with situations developing quickly, ticket holders should keep an eye on official information from the venue and remaining organisers rather than relying entirely on screenshots bouncing around social media.

Because screenshots without context spread faster than a circle pit when someone yells “MOVE!”

📱 The Social Media Problem

This situation also highlights something that has become increasingly common throughout the music industry.

Artists’ social media activity doesn’t exist in a vacuum.

Likes, reposts, comments and shares can quickly become associated not only with the individual musician involved but also with bands, promoters, venues, festivals and organisations working alongside them.

And once something starts spreading across social media, everyone connected with an event can suddenly find themselves being asked to explain where they stand.

That’s effectively what has happened here.

The controversy surrounding Rosado’s reported reposts moved beyond discussion of the vocalist himself and began generating questions about the organisations involved with the London appearance.

The promoter has now answered those questions by withdrawing from the event and announcing the charitable donations.

⚠️ A Bit Of Important Context

Because this story centres around social media posts and rapidly circulating online claims, it’s important to separate confirmed actions from interpretations of those actions.

The Riff Report isn’t going to reproduce inflammatory material simply for clicks, nor are we going to casually attach labels to somebody based entirely on screenshots and second-hand descriptions circulating online.

What matters to this particular story is the response.

There has been backlash surrounding social media reposts attributed to Jorge Rosado.

A promoter involved with the London show has responded by stepping away.

The show itself remains scheduled to happen.

And part of the proceeds are being directed towards Stop Hate UK and Gendered Intelligence.

Those are the important developments.

Everything beyond that deserves proper sourcing and context rather than a digital game of Chinese whispers.

🎸 Merauder And Their Hardcore Legacy

For anyone unfamiliar with the band, Merauder have long occupied an important position within the New York hardcore scene, particularly through their combination of hardcore and heavy metal.

Their 1995 album Master Killer became a hugely influential record within metallic hardcore, helping shape a sound that countless bands would subsequently explore.

That legacy means a Merauder appearance carries considerable weight among hardcore fans.

It also means controversy involving somebody associated with the band is inevitably going to attract attention.

This isn’t some unknown act playing to twelve people next to the toilets of a pub on a rainy Tuesday.

Merauder’s name carries history.

And with that history comes visibility.

🗣️ Hardcore Has Always Been About Community

Beyond the immediate controversy, there’s a bigger conversation here about what people expect from artists, promoters and venues.

Hardcore has always been more than guitars tuned low enough to communicate with whales.

It’s a community.

Yes, it’s chaotic.

Yes, sometimes somebody will stage-dive from something they absolutely should not be standing on.

And yes, there’s usually at least one bloke built like a refrigerator windmilling through the pit.

But underneath all that beautiful carnage are communities of people who care deeply about what their scenes represent.

That means conversations around inclusion, discrimination and responsibility aren’t disappearing anytime soon.

Promoters increasingly have to consider not only whether an artist can sell tickets but also what hosting that artist means to their audience.

There isn’t always going to be a neat answer.

Sometimes promoters cancel.

Sometimes venues intervene.

Sometimes artists respond.

Sometimes shows continue despite somebody involved withdrawing.

This appears to be one of those latter situations.

🔥 Where Things Stand

For now, the position is relatively straightforward despite all the noise surrounding it.

Merauder’s London concert remains scheduled to go ahead and is sold out.

A promoter previously involved with the show has stepped away following backlash surrounding social media reposts attributed to Jorge Rosado.

The promoter has also announced that a portion of proceeds will be donated to Stop Hate UK and Gendered Intelligence.

Whether there are further developments remains to be seen.

Given how quickly stories involving social media can move, we wouldn’t rule anything out.

But until somebody officially says otherwise, the amps are apparently still getting switched on.

And somewhere in London, a sound engineer is probably staring at the internet thinking:

“I only wanted to mic up a bloody guitar cab.”

Welcome to hardcore in 2026, mun. 🤘😈
