Tailgunner have confirmed that founding member Thomas “Bones” Hewson is returning to the band, bringing an end to months of uncertainty surrounding his absence from the line-up.
The British heavy metal outfit shared the news in a statement thanking fans for their support throughout what has already been a massive summer for the band.
Following appearances at Download Festival, Sweden Rock, Rock Harz and numerous other shows across Europe, Tailgunner said the reaction from audiences had reminded them exactly why they do what they do.
And now, with plenty more road miles still ahead, the band have confirmed that one of their founding members is officially back in the ranks.
🤘 THOMAS “BONES” HEWSON RETURNS
Tailgunner explained that Hewson had stepped away from the band while dealing with a personal matter involving a former romantic partner.
The band also addressed the speculation that had circulated online during his absence, stating that much of what had been shared differed significantly from the truth.
According to Tailgunner, the matter has now been concluded through a legal inquiry and is considered closed.
The band added that Thomas returns with their “full confidence and total support.”
It is an important statement from a group whose sudden line-up change had naturally sparked plenty of conversation among fans, particularly during such a busy period of touring and festival appearances.
Now, Tailgunner appear ready to draw a line under the situation and focus fully on the future.
🔥 A HUGE SUMMER FOR TAILGUNNER
Whatever has been happening behind the scenes, Tailgunner have continued charging forward with the kind of determination normally associated with a leather-clad warrior sprinting directly into a wall of Marshall stacks.
Their summer has included appearances at some of Europe’s most recognisable rock and metal festivals, with the band mentioning Download, Sweden Rock and Rock Harz among the highlights.
For a group carrying the flag for traditional heavy metal into a new generation, those are seriously impressive stages to be conquering.
Tailgunner have built their reputation on soaring vocals, thunderous drums, screaming guitars and enough old-school metal spirit to make the denim-and-patch-jacket brigade shed a proud little tear into their pints.

🌍 THE MIDNIGHT BLITZ WORLD TOUR CONTINUES
With Bones returning, attention now turns back towards the band’s ongoing Midnight Blitz World Tour.
Tailgunner confirmed that there are still plenty of dates remaining throughout 2026, while teasing that further announcements for 2027 are also on the way.
That means the Tailgunner machine is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down.
More gigs. More riffs. More screaming solos. More opportunities to stand in a venue with one fist in the air while pretending it is still 1984.

Tailgunner also used the statement to thank supporters for their patience, understanding and continued backing.
