Cardiff’s iconic Blackweir Fields is open once again, butt! After the amps were packed away, the last pint pulled, and the final power chord rang out from Blackweir Live, the green heart of the city is back where it belongs — in the hands (and paws) of the public. 🐾🤘
🎪 Fences Coming Down, Fields Springing Back
The event fences are mostly gone, with the last few panels expected to vanish faster than free festival wristbands by the end of today – July 18th. If you’re heading down for a stroll, a kickabout, or just a lie-down to recover from the post-gig comedown, you’ll find the place in lush condition.
🌱 Nature: 1 – Mosh Pits: 0
The protective measures taken during the festival have done their job — proper job, even. The grass is looking tidy, and even the cricket pitches have survived the chaos. Who knew rock and sport could co-exist so harmoniously?
🔧 The Final Touches: Reseeding & Repair
Now that the crowds have cleared, the real backstage crew (aka Cardiff’s ground team heroes 💪) are getting stuck into re-seeding any worn-out patches and sorting out compacted soil. A few stomped-out patches here and there, but nothing a bit of TLC and a few showers can’t fix. ☔
💸 And here’s the kicker – the cost of repairs is fully covered by the event organisers, thanks to a bond agreement sorted before a single chord was strummed. That’s what we call rock ‘n’ roll responsibility. 🎸✅
☀️ Back to Its Best (Weather Permitting)
With a bit of sunshine (🤞) and a gentle hand from Mother Nature, the grass should be back to peak lushness in just a few weeks. Whether you’re chasing frisbees, playing cricket, or planning a low-key picnic rave — Blackweir Fields is ready to be yours again.
