At Green Day’s recent gig in Luxembourg, a brave (or possibly just trollish) fan clambered on stage with dreams of stardom – or at least a viral TikTok. Instead of playing one of Billie Joe Armstrong’s anthems, the lad belted out Oasis’ “Wonderwall.” Yup. That song.
Armstrong? He wasn’t feeling it. The punk prince cut the performance short and had security yeet the poor sod off stage quicker than you can say “time of your life.” 😬
But the twist in the tale? Liam Gallagher himself caught wind of the stunt — and absolutely loved it.
“Legend. Absolute legend. Give that lad a pint and a parka,” Gallagher posted on X (formerly Twitter), with enough smug energy to power the National Grid.
Fans are split: some reckon it was a hilarious bit of Britpop mischief in the land of punk, others think it’s sacrilege to hijack a Green Day set with a Manchester anthem. Either way, the internet’s having a field day, and Liam’s probably plotting to invite the fan to join his tour now.
As for Billie Joe? Still refusing to play “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” which he reportedly called “too obvious” that night. Ironic, considering Wonderwall’s the most obvious anthem of all time — and yet, it still stirs the pot nearly 30 years later. 😅
