๐Ÿง  WHO THE HELVETE ARE OPETH?

Led by the long-haired, soft-spoken, evil-genius Mikael ร…kerfeldt, Opeth started out as a death metal band that clearly read too many Victorian novels and listened to way too much Camel. ๐ŸŽฉ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽถ

While their peers were blasting blast beats, Opeth were composing multi-part movements with acoustic interludes, lyrics about ghosts and sorrow, and riffs that either melt faces or gently caress them.

And then โ€“ in true Opeth fashion โ€“ they completely changed sound halfway through their career and became full-on prog rock masters. And they pulled it off. Like absolute kings. ๐Ÿ‘‘

๐ŸŒ’ THE LINE-UP OF DARK MAJESTY

๐Ÿงก WHY OPETH STILL RULE THE UNDERWORLD

Because no one else dares to make death metal sound beautiful and jazz sound terrifying.
Because Mikael ร…kerfeldtโ€™s voice is both a monster and a lullaby.
Because theyโ€™ve had a 30-year career without ever repeating themselves.

They write albums, not singles. Stories, not tracks.
Each song is a world. A ritual. A forest. A nightmare. A dream. ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿ’€

๐ŸŽค FINAL VERDICT FROM THE RIFF REPORT:

Opeth are the Shakespeare of extreme metal.
They didnโ€™t just evolve โ€“ they transcended genres, ripped off the labels, and rewrote the script.

So whether you’re headbanging to Deliverance or sobbing to Faith in Others, just rememberโ€ฆ

Opeth are for the brave, the weird, and the wonderful.
