⚡ The Kings of Metal Return to the Welsh Capital!
You heard it right, rockers – after three decades, Metallica are finally coming back to Cardiff! For the first time since their 1996 Load-era show, the gods of thrash will descend upon the capital of Cymru on June 28, 2026, armed with the thunderous M72 World Tour and ready to flatten the Principality Stadium with sheer volume. 🎤🔥
This isn’t just a tour stop. This is a historic homecoming for the band and their Welsh fans – a night that promises to be the loudest gig Wales has ever seen.
🏟️ About the Venue – Principality Stadium
Built in 1999 and formerly known as the Millennium Stadium, Principality Stadium is the beating heart of Welsh sport and culture. Located in the centre of Cardiff, right on the River Taff, it boasts:
-
🏟️ Capacity: Over 74,000 for concerts
-
🌧️ Retractable roof – which means no rain will stop this riff-fuelled rampage!
-
🎶 World-class acoustics and a track record of monstrous gigs from the likes of Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Foo Fighters, and AC/DC
-
🚆 Easy access from Cardiff Central Station, only a 5-minute walk from the stadium
-
🍻 Surrounded by pubs, bars, and rock-friendly hideouts, it’s the perfect pre-show and post-show party zone
For Metallica, this is their first ever show at the Principality – and they’ll be making it count. Expect 360° staging, explosive visuals, and the kind of sonic overload that makes the walls tremble.
🎶 M72 World Tour: What To Expect in 2026
This tour’s already made headlines worldwide with:
-
⚙️ Massive in-the-round stage
-
🔥 Flames, lasers, and more pyro than a Guy Fawkes finale
-
🤘 No-repeat setlists (though Cardiff’s getting a single monster show, you can still expect surprises!)
-
🎸 A career-spanning collection of hits and deep cuts from Kill ’Em All to 72 Seasons
Cardiff is gonna feel that bass drum all the way up Pen y Fan.
🎤 Flashback: Cardiff ’96 – The Last Time the Four Horsemen Rode Through Town

🐉 Wales is Ready to Rock – Again
The valleys are vibrating. The dragons are stirring. And across the land of song, a new anthem is building – one powered by riffs, roaring amps, and thunderous double-kicks.
From the streets of Swansea to the peaks of Snowdonia, Wales is primed for the return of the metal gods. We’ve waited 30 long years for this. Generations of fans who missed that legendary ’96 show now get their shot to stand in the shadows of Metallica’s sonic storm – and they’ll do it shoulder to shoulder with the veterans who were there the first time.
This isn’t just a gig. It’s a cultural moment. A loud, proud Welsh homecoming for the heaviest band on Earth.
🎸 In Cardiff, the pubs will be packed with punters in battle jackets and tour tees.
🎤 In the Valleys, families are already planning the pilgrimage – some bringing their kids for their first metal gig ever.
🔥 In Bridgend, Neath, Wrexham, Bangor and beyond, fans are tuning their air guitars and clearing their calendars.
We’re a land that gave the world Budgie, Man, Skindred, and Those Damn Crows – and now we welcome the ultimate headliner to our capital.
This is more than a concert. This is a Welsh celebration of steel and sound, where the dragon meets the riff, and the roar of 74,000 voices will echo into legend.
So warm up those necks, Cymru. Paint your flags with Metallica logos. And let the rest of the world know:
Wales is not just ready – we’ve been waiting for this all our lives.
C’mon Wales… let’s make this a night even the gods of Valhalla won’t forget. 🐲🤘
