McDonald’s UK just served us a battle of the buns… and we’re here to settle it, butt.
It’s the burger face-off we never knew we needed. The Big Arch has stomped onto the McDonald’s UK menu like a surprise headline act, waving its saucy flag and shouting, “I’m the new king now!” Meanwhile, the Big Tasty sits in its smoky throne, sipping BBQ sauce like it invented the burger game.
So… who wins? Who should you chuck in your Uber Eats basket at 2am after one too many Jägerbombs at Live Lounge? 🍻 Let’s find out.
🥊 ROUND ONE: WHO ARE THESE BURGER BOIS?
🌟 The Big Arch – The Fresh Upstart
This ain’t your regular promo burger. The Big Arch means business.
What’s in it?
- 2 x beef patties
- Cheese (standard McD’s slice of melty yellow glory)
- Crispy bacon
- Onions
- Shredded lettuce
- The mysterious Big Arch Sauce™ – a tangy mustard-mayo hybrid that slaps harder than a mosh pit elbow
💬 “Think Big Mac meets Quarter Pounder in a cheeky one-night stand, with mustard sauce as the love child.”
It’s bold. It’s zesty. It’s not here for a long time — but it’s definitely here for a good time.
🔥 The Big Tasty – The OG Heavyweight
The Big Tasty is like that band from the early 2000s you always forget about… until they headline a festival and absolutely crush it. This burger’s been around, it knows its worth, and it doesn’t care what TikTok says.
What’s in it?
- 1 MASSIVE beef patty
- Cheese
- Tomato
- Lettuce
- Onions
- Big Tasty Sauce™ – smoky, creamy, and basically what dreams are made of
💬 “It’s the burger equivalent of a slow, crunchy guitar solo – indulgent, powerful, and impossible to ignore.”
🤤 ROUND TWO: TASTE TEST SHOWDOWN
Big Arch Taste Test 🎧
Bite into the Big Arch and BAM – that sauce hits you right in the tastebuds. It’s got tang. It’s got attitude. It’s the Liam Gallagher of sauces. The bacon adds crunch, the onions give it a bit of bite, and overall? It feels like a proper remix of classic McD’s flavours.
But… it’s also a bit slippery. That sauce gets messy faster than a cider-fuelled crowd surf at Download. You’re gonna need napkins. Plural.
Big Tasty Taste Test 🎸
This is pure indulgence. Big Tasty doesn’t care about your diet. That beef patty is THICC. The sauce? Smoky BBQ bliss. The tomato might be a bit sad and floppy, but you’ll forgive it because the rest is a glorious meat-and-sauce apocalypse.
Warning: If your sauce-to-meat ratio is off (sometimes McD’s do be stingy), it can get dry. But when they get it right? It’s pure burger magic.
🍟 ROUND THREE: SATISFACTION LEVELS
Let’s be honest. You’re here to feel full, maybe regret some life choices, and then do it all again next week.
- Big Arch – You’ll feel satisfied, not stuffed. Great for a lunchtime hit or if you’re not ready to commit to full burger madness. Ideal for “just nipping to Maccies” energy.
- Big Tasty – This is a unit. You’re gonna be full. Sleepy. Possibly horizontal on your mate’s sofa watching Kerrang TV reruns. It’s the burger you brag about after eating: “I finished a Big Tasty AND fries, mate.”
🍺 ROUND FOUR: WHICH BURGER PAIRS BEST WITH REGRET?
We’ve all had that post-gig McDonald’s moment. Standing in the car park with cheesy fingers, clutching a tray of shame and bliss. Which burger belongs in that sacred, hangover-curing ritual?
- Big Arch: Great for pre-drinks or the start of a night out. It’s got zest and zing, won’t knock you out too early.
- Big Tasty: This is your 2am saviour. The post-gig, post-breakup, post-everything legend. Best consumed while slurring your love for whoever’s next to you in the queue.
🏆 THE FINAL VERDICT – WHO WINS?
🎖️ Winner: THE BIG TASTY
It’s smoky. It’s satisfying. It’s a legend for a reason. The Big Arch is a lush little surprise, a proper remix with a punchy sauce and fresher vibe — and we love it for that. But the Big Tasty? That’s the burger equivalent of Download headliners. It’s here to dominate your belly and your soul.

🤳 BONUS ROUND: SOCIAL MEDIA FLEX
Want likes on your burger pics? Big Arch looks tidy on camera. That shredded lettuce pops. But the Big Tasty? That thing is thicc — you’ll need a wide lens just to get the whole beast in.
📢 FINAL WORD FROM THE PIT
Look, both of these burgers deserve a spot in your belly. The Big Arch is like a killer support band — comes out swinging, leaves you impressed. But the Big Tasty? That’s your main event, your encore, your “one more song!” burger.
So next time you’re stuck staring at the McMenu like a dazed festival-goer at 4am, remember:
Go Big Tasty or go home.
Unless the Arch is leaving soon. Then yeah, get both. For research purposes. Obviously. 😎
