Get the boots polished, sew another patch onto the jacket and start preparing for some truly horrible timetable clashes because Rebellion Festival returns to Blackpool from Thursday 5 to Sunday 8 August 2027.

For four gloriously noisy days, the legendary Winter Gardens Blackpool will once again become one gigantic home for punk rock, ska, Oi!, hardcore, alternative music, acoustic performances, art, literature, independent traders and thousands of music fans arriving from around the world.

Rebellion proudly stands as one of the biggest independent punk gatherings anywhere on the planet, with more than 300 artists expected across multiple indoor stages.

And perhaps best of all?

It’s indoors.

No tents.

No muddy festival fields.

No attempting to hold down a gazebo while horizontal rain arrives from Lancashire.

Just four days of punk-rock chaos underneath one enormous roof.

Beautiful.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Rebellion Festival 2027 Line-Up

Rebellion books its line-up throughout the year, meaning loads more artists will be added as we move towards August 2027.

Prepare yourself.

That poster is going to get considerably busier.

๐Ÿ’ฅ UK Subs โ€“ One Final Rebellion

One of the biggest stories from the opening announcement is the return of UK Subs.

But this one comes with a bittersweet twist.

Their 2027 appearance has been announced as the band’s last-ever Rebellion Festival show.

Considering the long relationship between UK Subs and Britain’s punk festival scene, this has all the ingredients for one seriously emotional performance.

Led by the seemingly indestructible Charlie Harper, UK Subs remain one of the defining bands of British punk.

Generations of fans have watched them tear through clubs, pubs and festival stages, and their history is deeply intertwined with the culture Rebellion celebrates.

If you’re going to Rebellion 2027?

Don’t miss this one.

There will be voices.

There will be memories.

And there will almost certainly be a few tears hiding behind those sunglasses.

๐ŸŽธ The Undertones

Another legendary name already heading to Blackpool is The Undertones.

The Derry favourites have one of the most instantly recognisable catalogues from the original punk and new-wave explosion, combining urgent guitars with some of the finest pop melodies ever smuggled into punk rock.

Expect a massive crowd.

Expect enormous singalongs.

And yes…

You know exactly which song everybody is waiting for.

๐ŸŽค Tom Robinson Band

Tom Robinson Band adds another vital piece of British punk and alternative history to the weekend.

Rebellion has always been brilliant at showing how broad punk’s family tree really is.

This isn’t simply four days of bands playing increasingly fast three-chord songs.

Political songwriting.

Ska.

Reggae.

Hardcore.

Post-punk.

Street punk.

Acoustic music.

Experimental sounds.

Poetry.

Art.

Literature.

It’s all part of the story.

And Tom Robinson fits perfectly into that wider history.

๐Ÿ”ฅ The Meffs โ€“ Punkโ€™s Newer Generation

For all the legendary names on Rebellion posters, the festival isn’t interested in becoming a museum.

That matters.

The Meffs are among the newer generation making sure punk remains loud, relevant and thoroughly unwilling to behave itself.

The Essex duo have built a reputation for ferocious live performances, sharp social commentary and stripped-down punk that hits considerably harder than two people have any reasonable right to.

Rebellion works best when the old guard and the new generation occupy the same weekend.

You can watch somebody who helped build punk’s foundations and then walk into another room and see what musicians are doing with those ideas nearly fifty years later.

That’s how scenes survive.

๐ŸŒ Punk From Around The World

Rebellion might take place in Blackpool, but its audience and line-up are wonderfully international.

Bands and fans travel from across Europe, North America and considerably further afield to make the annual pilgrimage to Lancashire.

Already confirmed for 2027 are Canadian hardcore legends D.O.A., American ska-punk favourites Save Ferris, Street Dogs, The Hard-Ons and numerous artists representing different corners of punk culture.

That international atmosphere is a huge part of the festival.

Walk through the Winter Gardens and you’ll hear accents from everywhere.

You’ll see jackets covered in bands you’ve never heard of.

You’ll find flyers for festivals in countries you’ve never visited.

Then someone will recommend six more bands.

Your playlist doesn’t stand a chance.

๐Ÿ›๏ธ Winter Gardens Blackpool

One of Rebellion’s secret weapons is undoubtedly its venue.

The Winter Gardens Blackpool isn’t simply one large room.

It’s an enormous historic entertainment complex filled with halls, theatres, bars, meeting spaces and performance areas.

For Rebellion weekend, the whole place becomes a giant punk-rock maze.

Walk through one doorway and you’ve got a packed electric set.

Turn a corner and somebody’s playing acoustic.

Head upstairs and there could be a literary conversation happening.

Walk through another hall and suddenly you’re surrounded by records, patches, artwork and enough band shirts to bankrupt yourself before lunch.

It’s brilliant.

And occasionally slightly confusing.

Festival rule:

If you know exactly where you are inside the Winter Gardens at all times, you’re probably doing it wrong.

โ˜” A Festival Without The Mud

Here’s another major selling point.

Rebellion is completely indoors.

That’s not a small thing.

British festival weather is notoriously unpredictable.

August could deliver blue skies and blazing sunshine.

It could also deliver sideways rain and a weather warning.

Rebellion doesn’t care.

The bands are indoors.

The bars are indoors.

The stages are indoors.

You can spend the entire weekend enjoying live music without once having to inspect the sky and mutter:

โ€œThat cloud doesn’t look good.โ€

Festival luxury.

๐ŸŒฑ Rebellion Introducing

One area we strongly recommend investigating is the Rebellion Introducing Stage.

This dedicated grassroots platform gives newer and developing artists the chance to perform in front of an international festival audience.

And this is important.

The legendary bands on Rebellion’s biggest stages didn’t magically appear there.

Everybody starts somewhere.

Small venues.

Early support slots.

Half-empty rooms.

Grassroots festivals.

Platforms like Rebellion Introducing help build the next generation.

So don’t spend four days exclusively watching names you already recognise.

Walk into the Introducing Stage.

Take a chance.

You might discover something brilliant.

Then in five years, when the band’s playing one of the main rooms, you can become that person.

โ€œSaw them on Introducing, mate.โ€

You’ve earned it.

๐ŸŽ™๏ธ Almost Acoustic

Need a slightly more relaxed half-hour?

The Almost Acoustic Stage offers a different flavour of Rebellion.

Located inside the beautiful Spanish Hall, it allows artists to strip their songs back and perform in a much more intimate setting.

There are seats.

There is a dedicated bar.

And after spending three days walking around the Winter Gardens?

Those seats are going to look absolutely magnificent.

The acoustic programme also gives fans the chance to hear familiar musicians in a completely different setting.

Songs.

Stories.

Unexpected covers.

Rare performances.

And occasionally enough peace to remember what your feet felt like on Thursday morning.

๐Ÿ“š Rebellion Literary Festival

Rebellion’s celebration of alternative culture extends well beyond music.

The Literary Festival brings authors, journalists, musicians, artists and other figures together for interviews, discussions and readings.

Punk has always been more than a musical genre.

It’s visual art.

Fashion.

Political ideas.

Independent publishing.

Fanzines.

Photography.

Writing.

DIY culture.

Rebellion reflects that broader history.

So while you could spend four days running between bands, it’s worth leaving a little room in the timetable for everything else happening around the festival.

๐ŸŽจ Arts, Crafts & Traders

Take money.

More than you think you’ll need.

You’re welcome.

Rebellion’s marketplace is dangerous territory for anybody with even a mild weakness for music-related stuff.

Expect:

๐Ÿ‘• Band merchandise

๐Ÿ’ฟ Records and CDs

๐Ÿ“š Books and fanzines

๐ŸŽจ Punk artwork

๐Ÿงท Patches and badges

๐Ÿ‘— Alternative clothing

๐Ÿ’ Handmade jewellery

๐Ÿ–ผ๏ธ Prints

๐Ÿงธ Various wonderfully strange punk creations

You will walk in thinking:

โ€œI’ll just have a look.โ€

Forty minutes later you’ve somehow bought two shirts, a record, seven patches and something involving a punk teddy bear.

Standard Rebellion behaviour.

๐Ÿ–๏ธ Blackpool Becomes Punk Rock Central

The festival venue is only half the experience.

The other half is Blackpool.

For four days every August, thousands of punks spill out of the Winter Gardens and across one of Britain’s most famous seaside towns.

The promenade.

Blackpool Tower.

Arcades.

Fish and chips.

Pubs.

The beach.

Cheap sunglasses.

Questionable weather.

Mohawks everywhere.

There is something wonderfully appropriate about punk taking over Blackpool.

The town already has that mixture of faded grandeur, entertainment history, bright lights and absolute chaos.

Add several thousand people wearing leather jackets and it somehow makes even more sense.

๐Ÿจ Where To Stay

Rebellion does not have a campsite.

Instead, festival-goers stay throughout Blackpool.

And there are plenty of options.

Hotels.

B&Bs.

Guest houses.

Apartments.

Budget accommodation.

And probably at least one room where the carpet hasn’t changed since The Clash were still together.

The important thing?

Book early.

Rebellion attracts thousands of visitors, and accommodation close to the Winter Gardens can disappear quickly.

Having a room within walking distance is worth its weight in gold after spending twelve hours bouncing between stages.

Nobody wants an epic expedition across Blackpool at midnight when their feet have officially resigned.

๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘ง Rebellion Is An All-Ages Festival

One of the nicest things about Rebellion is the mixture of generations.

The festival is all ages.

Children under five can attend free with an adult ticket, while children aged 5โ€“12 can also attend free with qualifying adult weekend or day tickets, subject to the festival’s limits.

Young festival-goers must remain accompanied by their parent or guardian.

That means you’ll regularly see multiple generations attending together.

Original punks.

Their children.

Their grandchildren.

Possibly somebody discovering punk for the first time that weekend.

That’s pretty special.

๐Ÿ‘‚ Look After Those Lugholes

All ages doesn’t mean all volume levels are sensible.

Rebellion gets loud.

Very loud.

Good hearing protection is highly recommended for adults and essential for children.

Filtered concert earplugs can reduce dangerous sound levels without ruining the music.

For younger fans, use properly designed children’s hearing protection.

Punk should leave you questioning authority.

Not asking everybody to repeat themselves.

โ™ฟ Accessibility

Rebellion provides dedicated accessibility information for festival-goers who require additional support.

The festival also operates arrangements for eligible carer tickets.

The Winter Gardens is a historic building, and Rebellion uses the complex differently from many standard events, so anyone with specific access requirements should check the latest festival information before travelling.

Planning it beforehand means less stress when you arrive.

And more time for bands.

๐Ÿšช Opening Times

๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ Thursday 5 August

Doors: 11:00am

Thursday begins slightly earlier than the rest of the weekend.

You’ll need that extra hour.

There are a lot of bands coming.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Friday 6 August

Doors: 12:00pm

๐Ÿค˜ Saturday 7 August

Doors: 12:00pm

๐Ÿ’€ Sunday 8 August

Doors: 12:00pm

Final stage times and daily running orders will be released closer to the festival.

Prepare your clashfinder.

And perhaps several backup plans.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Rebellion Festival 2027 Tickets

๐Ÿดโ€โ˜ ๏ธ Why Rebellion Belongs On The Calendar

Rebellion is more than a collection of punk bands playing in the same building.

It’s a gathering.

A reunion.

A celebration of underground culture.

A history lesson.

A shop.

A pub crawl.

A seaside holiday.

And occasionally a four-day endurance test for your knees.

The biggest names matter.

Of course they do.

But so do the tiny bands on Introducing.

The acoustic performers.

The authors.

The artists.

The independent traders.

The fans travelling halfway around the planet to be there.

That’s what makes Rebellion special.

It takes everything surrounding punk and alternative culture and stuffs as much of it as physically possible into one enormous Blackpool weekend.

So get 5โ€“8 August 2027 into the diary.

Find somewhere to stay.

Start working through the bands.

Leave room for new discoveries.

And begin emotionally preparing yourself for the inevitable moment when three artists you desperately want to see are playing at exactly the same time.
