Worthing is preparing to bring the hammer down once again as Hammerdown Festival returns to The Factory Live from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 August 2027.
Three days.
More than 25 bands.
One grassroots venue.
And absolutely no requirement to spend the weekend attempting to stop your tent from becoming airborne.
Sounds tidy to us.
Hammerdown has steadily grown into one of the most interesting independent events on the southern UK rock and metal calendar, combining established underground names with rising bands and artists who deserve considerably more attention.
For 2027, the festival is heading back to The Factory Live in Worthing for a third consecutive year, while keeping the expanded three-day format.
And if you’re passionate about discovering new British rock and metal?
This is exactly the sort of weekend worth sticking in the diary.
๐ฅ Three Days. More Than 25 Bands.
Hammerdown isn’t messing about in 2027.
The organisers are promising more than 25 acts across the three-day weekend, making this another substantial edition of the grassroots festival.
Friday provides the opening-night blast before Saturday and Sunday deliver two full days of live music.
Current advertised opening times are:
๐ฅ Friday โ Doors at 5:30pm
๐ค Saturday โ Doors at 12:00pm
๐ Sunday โ Doors at 12:00pm
Final band running times will be announced closer to the festival.
And with more than 25 artists expected across the weekend, you’re probably going to need that timetable.
There will inevitably be moments involving:
โHang on, who’s next?โ
โWhat time are they playing?โ
and the traditional festival favourite:
โI thought you said they were on at three!โ
Wouldn’t be a proper weekend without it.
๐ค Hammerdown Festival 2027 Line-Up
The full Hammerdown Festival 2027 line-up has not yet been officially announced.
The organisers have confirmed that the first wave of bands is expected during September 2026, with more than 25 artists ultimately due to perform across the weekend.
That means the announcement season is about to begin.
And judging by Hammerdown’s previous festivals, we’re expecting a healthy mixture of:
๐ค Modern metal
๐ฅ Hard rock
โก Alternative metal
๐ธ Classic rock
๐ Heavier underground sounds
๐ฑ Emerging grassroots artists
Hammerdown has previously welcomed bands including The Raven Age, InMe, Esoterica, South Of Salem, Fort Hope, Skarlett Riot, Seething Akira, Acres and Confessions Of A Traitor.
So while we don’t yet know exactly who’s walking through The Factory Live doors in August 2027, there’s a decent pedigree behind the booking desk.
The Riff Report will update this calendar entry as soon as the 2027 bands are officially announced.
๐ฑ Grassroots Music At The Heart Of Hammerdown
One of Hammerdown’s biggest strengths is its support for grassroots music.
Big festivals are brilliant.
Arena tours are brilliant.
Watching enormous bands with gigantic productions can be spectacular.
But none of those artists started there.
They started in places like The Factory Live.
Small venues.
Independent shows.
Local festivals.
Support slots.
Crowds where the band could probably identify every individual person standing in front of them.
That’s where musicians develop.
That’s where scenes grow.
And that’s why festivals like Hammerdown matter.
The festival gives smaller and developing artists a genuine opportunity to perform alongside more established names in front of an audience specifically interested in discovering rock and metal.
You might arrive knowing four bands.
You could leave following another eight.
That’s exactly how it should work.
๐จ From Pitch Up! To Hammerdown
Hammerdown’s story stretches back to 2015, when the event originally launched under the name Pitch Up! Festival.
The festival was founded by Harry White and Bradley Clark, before White continued developing the event and the Hammerdown name emerged soon afterwards.
Hammerdown continued through 2016, 2017 and 2018 before taking what was intended to be a relatively short break.
Then the pandemic arrived.
The planned hiatus became considerably longer than expected, with Hammerdown eventually returning in 2022.
Since then, the festival has continued rebuilding and growing.
Attendance increased.
Venues became larger.
The line-ups expanded.
And Hammerdown developed into considerably more than one weekend each year, with the wider Hammerdown All In organisation promoting rock and metal shows around the country.
The 2027 festival represents another chapter in that story.
๐ Back At The Factory Live
Hammerdown returns to The Factory Live in Worthing for its third consecutive edition at the venue.
That’s actually significant for Hammerdown.
The organisers point out that they’ve never previously held the festival at the same venue three years running.
Clearly they’ve found somewhere that works.
The Factory Live is an independent grassroots music venue in Worthing with a capacity of approximately 285 people, making it considerably more intimate than the giant halls and festival fields many rock fans are used to.
And that’s part of the appeal.
When a heavy band properly gets going in a venue this size, you feel it.
There isn’t a gigantic gap between audience and artist.
You aren’t watching the drummer on a video screen from somewhere in another postcode.
You’re right there.
Close.
Sweaty.
Loud.
Exactly how grassroots rock and metal should feel.
๐ Getting To Hammerdown Festival
The Factory Live is conveniently located close to Worthing’s railway station.
๐ By Train
The nearest station is:
Worthing Railway Station
The venue is approximately a five-minute walk away.
That makes Hammerdown particularly handy for anyone travelling by public transport.
Arrive in Worthing.
Walk to venue.
Watch bands.
Simple.
๐ By Car
The Factory Live is located on an industrial estate where some parking becomes free after 5pm.
There are also longer-stay public car parks within approximately a ten-minute walk of the venue.
Always check current parking restrictions before leaving the car.
Because discovering your new favourite band is brilliant.
Discovering a parking ticket afterwards?
Less exciting.
โฟ Hammerdown Festival Accessibility
The Factory Live is wheelchair accessible.
The venue has:
โฟ Ramped access into the building
โฟ No internal steps
โฟ Ground-floor facilities
โฟ Accessible toilets
Hammerdown also states that carer or accompaniment tickets can be arranged for qualifying festival-goers through The Factory Live.
Anyone needing specific accessibility support should contact the venue before festival weekend so arrangements can be sorted in advance.
๐ช Seating
Hammerdown is primarily a standing rock and metal festival.
However, seating is available in The Factory Live’s outdoor area.
And believe us:
At 7pm on Sunday after spending most of the weekend standing in front of bands, that chair may suddenly look like the greatest invention in human history.
Festival knees are real.
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง Younger Rock & Metal Fans
Hammerdown Festival is a 14+ event.
Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
That makes Hammerdown a potentially brilliant first festival for younger fans.
You get the excitement of a multi-day rock and metal event without immediately throwing someone into a gigantic campsite with tens of thousands of people.
Just remember one extremely important thing:
Hearing protection.
For younger festival-goers especially, properly fitted hearing protection is essential.
Start them young.
But protect those lugholes.
๐ Protect Your Hearing
Actually, that advice applies to everyone.
Three days.
More than 25 bands.
Indoor PA systems.
That’s a substantial amount of noise exposure.
Good quality filtered concert earplugs reduce dangerous volume levels while still allowing you to hear the music properly.
Rock and metal should leave you with:
Great memories.
New favourite bands.
A stupid amount of merch.
Possibly a slightly knackered neck.
It shouldn’t leave you with permanent hearing damage.
Look after your ears.
You need them for the next festival.
๐๏ธ Hammerdown Festival 2027 Tickets
Three-day weekend tickets for Hammerdown Festival 2027 are advertised at:
๐๏ธ ยฃ50 Face Value
That gets you access across:
Friday 13 August
Saturday 14 August
and
Sunday 15 August 2027
The first limited batch of early-bird tickets was restricted to just 50 festival-goers, with those purchasers also receiving a mystery free gift on arrival.
Day tickets are expected to become available later.
For more than 25 bands across three days, that weekend price puts Hammerdown firmly among the more affordable options on the UK rock and metal festival calendar.
Especially when you consider some single arena gigs now cost considerably more than that before you’ve even bought a pint.
๐จ Staying In Worthing
Because Hammerdown is an indoor city-based festival, there’s no campsite.
For some people?
That’ll be glorious news.
Instead, festival-goers travelling from further afield can choose from hotels, guest houses and other accommodation throughout Worthing and the surrounding area.
Being close to the town centre also means you’ve got considerably more options for food, shops and supplies than you’d normally find halfway across a giant festival field.
Forgot toothpaste?
Shop.
Need proper breakfast?
Cafe.
Want an actual bed?
Hotel.
Indoor festivals have their advantages.
๐ Food, Drink & Festival Survival
Three days of gigs still requires a little planning.
Eat properly.
Drink water.
Wear comfortable shoes.
Take hearing protection.
And leave some money for merch.
That last one is important.
Grassroots bands rely heavily on merchandise sales while touring.
If you discover someone brilliant during Hammerdown and you’ve got a few quid spare, heading to their merch table is one of the simplest ways to directly support them.
Buy the shirt.
Grab the CD or vinyl.
Pick up a patch.
Then six months later, when everyone else suddenly discovers the band, you get to say:
โYeah, saw them at Hammerdown.โ
Smug?
Slightly.
Earned?
Absolutely.
๐ธ Watch The Bands You Don’t Know
Riff Report festival rule:
Turn up early.
Seriously.
Hammerdown is exactly the sort of festival where the name sitting near the bottom of the poster could end up being one of your highlights.
Don’t spend three days exclusively watching bands you already know.
Take a chance.
Walk in early.
Catch the opener.
Watch somebody you’ve never heard before.
You might get twenty minutes in and decide they’re not your thing.
Fine.
Or you might discover a band that ends up living permanently in your playlist.
That’s why grassroots festivals exist.

๐ฅ Why Hammerdown Deserves Your Attention
Hammerdown isn’t attempting to become another Download.
And it doesn’t need to.
Its strength is being something completely different.
An independent venue.
A few hundred fans.
More than 25 rock and metal bands.
Three days dedicated to supporting grassroots music.
Those are the events where scenes are built.
Where new bands become established bands.
Where fans discover something they weren’t expecting.
And where independent venues get the support they desperately need.
So when August 2027 arrives, don’t just look at the top of the poster.
Dig deeper.
Turn up early.
Watch everything you can.
Support the bands.
Support the venue.
Support the festival.
And prepare to bring the hammer down.
