There are festivals…
And then there’s Steelhouse Festival.
Some festivals are all about massive crowds, endless walking between stages and trying to find your mates for half the weekend. Steelhouse has never been about that. It has always been about something far more important – community, incredible live music and the feeling that, for one weekend every summer, a mountain in South Wales becomes the happiest place in rock.
Celebrating its 15th edition, Steelhouse Festival 2026 wasn’t just another successful year—it was a celebration of everything that makes independent festivals special. Three days of world-class rock music, breathtaking scenery, passionate fans and unforgettable moments proved once again why thousands of people make the annual pilgrimage to Hafod-y-Dafal Farm.
From the moment The Riff Report arrived at the queue to head up the mountain until the final cars rolled out on Sunday evening, there was one overwhelming feeling…

🏔️ The Famous Mountain Journey
Every Steelhouse veteran knows the adventure starts long before the first band.
Cars snake their way up the winding mountain roads, packed with tents, camping chairs, crates of beer and enough supplies to survive a week in the wilderness. Every bend reveals another stunning view across the Welsh valleys, and with every mile the excitement builds.
Even before entering the arena you can hear laughter, smell the first barbecues and see festival flags waving proudly in the breeze.
Despite the windy conditions throughout the weekend, festival-goers simply adapted. Guy ropes were tightened, neighbours helped each other secure gazebos and tents, and the mountain spirit carried on as if nothing had happened.
That’s the Steelhouse way.
❤️ More Than a Festival – A Family
One of Steelhouse’s greatest strengths has never been the line-up.
It’s the people.
Unlike many larger festivals where everyone sticks to themselves, Steelhouse remains wonderfully welcoming.
Neighbours become drinking buddies.
Complete strangers help pitch tents.
People swap beers, food, chairs and stories.
Walk through the campsite and you’ll hear conversations that start with:
“Where have you travelled from?”
Ten minutes later they’re arranging to meet again next year.
The Riff Report spoke to fans who had travelled from every corner of the UK, many making the same journey every July because nowhere else feels quite like Steelhouse.
🤘 The Volunteers Are the Real Heroes
One issue that unfortunately surfaced this year was the verbal abuse directed at some volunteers.
Let’s be crystal clear.
The incredible people wearing the high-vis jackets aren’t paid.
They’re volunteers.
They give up their own weekends because they genuinely love Steelhouse Festival.
Whether they’re directing traffic, helping campers, answering questions or keeping everyone safe, they’re the backbone of the entire event.
Seeing signs reminding people to respect volunteers was genuinely heartbreaking.
Thankfully, those incidents were overshadowed by thousands of festival-goers showing kindness, patience and appreciation.
To every volunteer…

🎸 Friday – The Weekend Explodes Into Life
Friday afternoon saw Steelhouse burst into life.
The arena quickly filled as old friends reunited and first-time visitors discovered why this festival has such a loyal following.
🦑 King Kraken
If there was ever a way to announce Steelhouse was officially underway, King Kraken found it.
Flames.
Pyrotechnics.
Huge riffs.
Gigantic choruses.
It genuinely felt like someone had transported a headline arena production onto the Welsh mountainside.
The Welsh favourites delivered one of the loudest openings Steelhouse has ever witnessed.
🎶 Parker Barrow
Southern rock swagger filled the mountain as Parker Barrow mixed blues, rock and soul into one irresistible performance.
🎸 Anthony Gomes
Anthony Gomes reminded everyone that blues rock remains alive and kicking, delivering jaw-dropping guitar solos throughout his set.
🎤 Luke Morley
Thunder legend Luke Morley demonstrated exactly why he’s one of Britain’s greatest songwriters.
His effortless stage presence and timeless songs had fans singing every word.
🔥 Mason Hill
Mason Hill continued their rise with an energetic performance packed with huge choruses and superb musicianship.
Their frontman completely owned the stage.
🌑 Hollow Souls
Heavy riffs and dark atmosphere transformed the mountain as Hollow Souls delivered one of Friday’s hardest-hitting performances.
👏 The Temperance Movement
Closing Friday wasn’t easy.
The Temperance Movement made it look effortless.
Their mixture of blues, soul and classic rock created one enormous singalong beneath the Welsh sunset.
🔥 Saturday – One of Steelhouse’s Greatest Days
If Friday set the standard…
Saturday somehow raised it even higher.
⚡ Black Lakes
Opening Saturday with huge energy, Black Lakes wasted no time getting everyone moving.
✨ Bobbie Dazzle
A colourful explosion of glam rock fun brought smiles everywhere you looked.
🇺🇸 Tuk Smith & The Restless Hearts
Old-school American rock and roll with modern attitude.
One of the surprise packages of the weekend.
🌊 Beaux Gris Gris & The Apocalypse
Blues, soul and groove flowed effortlessly across the mountain.
⭐ Dan Byrne
Without question…
One of the performances of the weekend.
Dan Byrne played with the confidence of someone destined for much bigger stages.
If you weren’t already a fan before Steelhouse…
You probably are now.
🇫🇮 Von Hertzen Brothers
Complex progressive rock can sometimes lose festival crowds.
Not here.
The Finnish trio delivered a masterclass in musicianship that left even first-time listeners completely captivated.
🌊 Reef
Reef simply reminded everyone why they’ve remained one of Britain’s most loved live bands.
Hit after hit echoed around the mountain.
The crowd sang every word.
👑 Rival Sons
Saturday belonged to Rival Sons.
An absolutely sensational headline performance.
Jay Buchanan’s vocals were spellbinding.
Scott Holiday’s guitar work was phenomenal.
Every song felt enormous.
One of the finest headline sets Steelhouse has ever hosted.
⚔️ Sunday – One Last Celebration
Nobody wants Steelhouse Sunday to arrive.
It means home time is getting closer.
But Steelhouse always makes sure the final day is memorable.
🔥 Blue Nation
A brilliant opening that immediately had fans gathered in front of the stage.
⚔️ LN
One of the weekend’s biggest talking points.
The Newcastle Viking metallers transformed the mountain into a Nordic battlefield.
Theatrical costumes.
Massive riffs.
Folk melodies.
Growls.
Huge clean vocals.
Crowd interaction.
Everything about LN screamed festival band.
To make things even better, many fans later discovered the band had actually been camping among them.
Only at Steelhouse.
❤️ Florence Black – Secret Tribute Set
One of the weekend’s most emotional moments.
Florence Black paid tribute to Phill in a performance that united the entire festival.
It wasn’t just a concert.
It became a celebration of friendship, music and memories.
🎸 The VIP Acoustic Stage
One of Steelhouse’s greatest hidden treasures continues to be the VIP Acoustic Stage.
These intimate performances gave fans an opportunity to see artists in an entirely different environment.

Sometimes just an acoustic guitar tells a bigger story than an arena full of amplifiers.
✍️ Planet Rock Signing Tent
The signing tent remained one of the busiest attractions all weekend.
Fans queued patiently to meet their heroes, sign albums, grab selfies and chat with artists.
There were smiles everywhere.
No rushing.
No egos.
Just musicians genuinely grateful to meet the people supporting live music.
🍔 Food, Drink & Traders
Steelhouse once again offered a fantastic selection of food vendors, independent traders and bars throughout the arena.
Whether you fancied a burger, loaded fries, pizza, coffee or something sweet, there was always something nearby to keep festival energy levels high.
The merchandise stalls also proved popular, giving fans the chance to support both the festival and the bands directly.
🌄 One of the Most Beautiful Festival Locations in Britain
It’s impossible to review Steelhouse without mentioning the setting.
Watching bands perform while looking out across the rolling Welsh valleys is something you simply can’t recreate anywhere else.
Whether it was glorious sunshine breaking through the clouds or dramatic winds sweeping across the mountain, the backdrop became part of every performance.
Every photograph looked like a postcard.
🤘 The Crowd
Steelhouse crowds continue to be among the very best.
Circle pits erupted.
Crowd surfers flew overhead.
Air guitars appeared everywhere.
Thousands of voices joined together for chorus after chorus.
Yet despite all the chaos, the atmosphere remained welcoming and respectful throughout.
Families stood beside lifelong bikers.
Young children experienced their first festival.
Veterans who have attended every Steelhouse mingled with first-timers.
Everyone belonged.

Steelhouse Festival has never tried to be the biggest festival in Britain.
It doesn’t need to be.
What it delivers is something many larger events struggle to recreate:
❤️ Community.
❤️ Passion.
❤️ Incredible live music.
❤️ Beautiful surroundings.
❤️ Genuine friendliness.
❤️ Memories that last all year.
For three incredible days, thousands of rock fans escaped the real world and created another chapter in Steelhouse history.
As tents came down, hugs were exchanged and the mountain slowly emptied, everyone left with exactly the same thought…
Roll on Steelhouse Festival 2027.
