BLOODSTOCK has unleashed another hefty wave of bands for 2027, adding eighteen more names across the Ronnie James Dio and Sophie Lancaster stages โ and once again, the festival is proving that variety is every bit as important as size.
BLOODSTOCK has never been a festival that simply books three huge headliners and calls it a day.
The real strength has always been in the depth.
The weird stuff.
The underground heroes.
The bands you stumble across at 2pm and end up raving about for the next three years.
And the latest announcement for BLOODSTOCK 2027 absolutely leans into that spirit.
From progressive post-metal and technical thrash to nu-metal revivalism, black metal, deathcore, hardcore and stoner rock, the new additions are all over the heavy music map.
Exactly how we like it.
๐ค Four New Additions For The Ronnie James Dio Stage
The Ronnie James Dio Stage gets four fresh names across the weekend.
On Friday, Edinburghโs DVNE join the bill, bringing their ambitious blend of progressive post-metal and expansive heaviness to Catton Park.
The band have spent more than a decade developing a sound built around huge riffs, atmosphere and carefully constructed records, making them a seriously tasty addition for anyone who likes their metal massive and immersive.
Then on Saturday, things get considerably nastier.
Australian metalcore favourites MAKE THEM SUFFER arrive with their distinctive mix of punishing breakdowns, screaming vocals, synths and orchestral flourishes.
Theyโre joined by Scottish veterans DOG TIRED, who have spent more than twenty years hammering away in the underground and building a reputation for relentless riff-driven metal.
And on Sunday?
Brace yourselves.
CARNIFEX are coming.
The Californian deathcore mainstays have spent years turning pits into absolute disasters, and if their reputation follows them to BLOODSTOCK, there may be considerably fewer intact neck muscles by the end of the day.
๐ต Thursday On The Sophie Lancaster Stage Gets Weird In The Best Way
The Sophie Lancaster Stage kicks things off on Thursday with three completely different flavours of heaviness.
London desert rockers STEAK bring their brooding, hook-heavy take on stoner rock, delivering the sort of riffs that sound like theyโve spent several days baking in the California sun despite coming from considerably greyer surroundings.
Then thereโs CRYPTIC SHIFT.
The Leeds outfit combine technical thrash and death metal with full-blown science-fiction concepts, creating music that sounds like a spaceship has crashed directly into an extreme-metal rehearsal room.
Excellent.
Completing Thursdayโs additions are London trio CALVA LOUISE, whose multilingual, genre-hopping sound pulls together alternative rock, electronics and heavier influences.
Theyโre difficult to shove into one box.
Which is precisely why theyโll probably be worth catching.
๐ฅ Friday Brings Thrash, Hardcore And Pure Chaos
Friday on the Sophie stage gets straight to business with DIVINE CHAOS.
The Slough band fuse thrash with melodic death metal, bringing sharp riffs and plenty of aggression to the lineup.
Theyโre joined by London hardcore crew FALSE REALITY, whose crossover sound drags thrash directly into the pit.
If you like your hardcore with extra riffing and a strong chance of somebody flying past your head horizontally, get involved.
Then come Northern Irish thrash veterans GAMA BOMB.
More than twenty years into their career, the band remain gloriously obsessed with horror films, pulp sci-fi and ridiculous riffing.
And honestly?
Metal could always use more songs about monsters, aliens and VHS-era nonsense.
๐ฅ Saturday On The Sophie Stage Is Absolutely Stacked
Saturday might be the most wildly varied day of the new announcement.
Brighton trio EVILLE bring what they describe as โbrat metalโ, mixing nu-metal revivalism with a much more modern pop edge.
Theyโre joined by Ukrainian metalcore force SPACE OF VARIATIONS, whose heavy, atmospheric sound has made them one of the standout names from their home country.
Finlandโs LUNA KILLS also join Saturdayโs bill, blending alternative metal and nu-metal with electronics influenced by video-game soundtracks.
That already sounds like something designed specifically to drag half the festival into the tent out of curiosity.
Then thereโs SPITTING GLASS.
The transatlantic supergroup have generated a ridiculous amount of buzz despite being relatively new, selling out Londonโs Underworld and causing serious damage at Download before theyโd barely had time to settle in.
Expect hype.
Expect chaos.
Expect the tent to be rammed.
And if all that isnโt enough, Atlanta deathcore wrecking crew LEFT TO SUFFER will also be there.
Their sound is brutally precise, utterly crushing and very likely to rearrange your internal organs.
Lovely.
๐ Sunday Ends With No Interest In Mercy
BLOODSTOCK clearly has no intention of letting Sunday gently fade away.
Cypriot thrash/death metal band BLYND bring more than two decades of experience to the Sophie stage, representing one of the most established names from their countryโs metal scene.
Norwegian black and Viking metal outfit UBUREN follow with a sound rooted in folklore, history and darkness.
Their name comes from an old Norse word associated with casting out, which already sounds suitably cheerful.
Then comes THE ACACIA STRAIN.
And really, thatโs just rude.
The US heavyweights have spent years blurring the lines between metal, hardcore, doom and sludge, creating something that feels less like music and more like having a collapsing building dropped onto you in slow motion.
There are worse ways to finish a festival.
Probably.
๐บ BLOODSTOCKโs YouTube Channel Is Getting Busy Too
The announcements arenโt limited to the festival field.
BLOODSTOCK has also been digging through its 2026 footage and uploading complete sets to its official YouTube channel.
The full SLAUGHTER TO PREVAIL headline performance from 2026 is already available, giving fans the chance to relive the carnage from Catton Park.
And tonight at 6pm, the complete 2026 set from Swedish melodic death-metal bruisers ORBIT CULTURE is set to premiere.
So if your Friday night plans currently consist of sitting on the sofa wondering what to watch, problem solved.
Turn the lights off.
Turn the speakers up.
Apologise to the neighbours later.

๐ BLOODSTOCK 2027 Is Already Looking Ridiculous
And remember, these eighteen bands are joining an already enormous lineup.
The Ronnie James Dio Stage will be headlined by:
MERCYFUL FATE
ELECTRIC CALLBOY
MOTIONLESS IN WHITE
Meanwhile, the Sophie Lancaster Stage headliners are:
MADBALL
GAEREA
KANONENFIEBER
DETHKLOK
Elsewhere across the festival, confirmed names already include GREEN LUNG, CHILDREN OF BODOM, DEVILDRIVER, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, IMMINENCE, WIND ROSE, SYLOSIS, DECAPITATED, WITCH CLUB SATAN, HAMMERFALL, HYPOCRISY, THE HALO EFFECT, TORTURED DEMON, GUTALAX, HUMANITYโS LAST BREATH, CONAN, DOOL, PIG DESTROYER and FULCI.
And there are still more bands to come.
Thatโs the slightly ridiculous part.
๐ BLOODSTOCK 2027 โ The Essential Details
BLOODSTOCK Open Air 2027 takes place at Catton Park, Derbyshire, from 5โ8 August 2027.
Four days.
Countless riffs.
Questionable campsite decisions.
And apparently enough heavy music to flatten most of Derbyshire.
Perfect.
๐ค THE RIFF REPORT VERDICT
This is exactly why BLOODSTOCK works.
The headliners are big enough to pull people in, but the undercard is where the real personality lives.
One minute youโre watching progressive post-metal.
The next youโre getting battered by deathcore.
Then you stumble into sci-fi thrash.
Then nu-metal.
Then Viking metal.
Then The Acacia Strain turn up and remove whatโs left of your spine.
Thereโs no safe route through this lineup.
And thatโs the whole point.
BLOODSTOCK 2027 is already shaping up to be one of the most diverse and gloriously heavy editions yet โ and thereโs still plenty more to come.
See you in the field. ๐ค๐ฅ
