What was supposed to be an international metal adventure has turned into a nightmare for a group of Indonesian death metal musicians left stranded in Ireland after a planned gig in Cork fell through.

Now, the metal community is being asked to do what it does best: rally together and help get these musicians home. 🤘❤️

A GoFundMe fundraiser has been launched in an effort to rescue the stranded musicians, whose touring plans were thrown into chaos following the cancellation of their Cork appearance.

And this isn’t just about a cancelled gig anymore. It’s about people thousands of miles from home, facing unexpected costs and trying to figure out what the hell happens next.

🇮🇩 From Indonesia to Ireland — Then Everything Goes Wrong

International touring is difficult enough when everything goes according to plan.

Flights, visas, accommodation, transport, equipment, promoters, venues and food can swallow a band’s budget faster than a festival pint disappears on a sunny afternoon.

When you’re an underground metal band travelling halfway around the planet, there’s usually very little financial breathing room.

So when a major part of the plan suddenly disappears, the consequences can be brutal.

The Indonesian musicians had travelled to Ireland as part of their touring commitments, but after the planned Cork gig fell through, they were reportedly left stranded and facing the very real problem of how to fund their journey home.

That’s where the fundraiser comes in.

💰 GoFundMe Launched to Help Get the Bands Home

A GoFundMe campaign has now been established to raise money towards the costs associated with getting the musicians safely back to Indonesia.

For established arena acts, an unexpected travel bill might be an inconvenience.

For underground bands?

It can completely destroy a tour budget.

We’re talking emergency accommodation, replacement travel arrangements, food, transport and potentially eye-watering international flight costs.

When you’re thousands of miles away from home, those expenses pile up very bloody quickly.

The fundraiser is therefore aiming to provide some much-needed financial breathing room and, ultimately, help the stranded musicians make the long journey home.

🤘 This Is Where the Metal Community Comes In

There’s an old cliché about heavy metal being one big family.

Sometimes it sounds a bit cheesy.

Then something like this happens.

Metal fans have a long history of stepping up when musicians, venues, promoters or fellow fans find themselves in trouble. Benefit gigs, crowdfunding campaigns, charity auctions and simple acts of generosity have been part of the underground scene for decades.

Because underneath all the blast beats, corpse paint, circle pits and questionable battle jackets, there’s a genuinely brilliant community.

And situations like this are exactly when that community matters.

Even a small donation can make a difference when enough people get involved.

Can’t donate?

Share the fundraiser.

Send it to your metal-loving mates. Drop it into your local scene groups. Share it with promoters, bands, venues and anyone else who might be willing to give the campaign a boost.

Sometimes reach is just as valuable as a few quid.

✈️ Touring Isn’t Always the Glamorous Adventure It Looks Like

There’s another side to this story worth remembering.

We often see touring through social media: packed venues, backstage photographs, airport selfies, festival stages and crowds throwing horns into the air.

What we don’t always see is the enormous financial gamble behind it.

For underground artists especially, international touring can operate on terrifyingly thin margins.

One cancelled performance.

One missed connection.

One unexpected hotel stay.

One promoter disappearing.

One transport problem.

Suddenly the entire tour can be hanging by a thread.

For musicians travelling internationally, that risk becomes even greater. You’re dealing with unfamiliar countries, different currencies, potentially complicated visa arrangements and enormous distances between home and wherever you’ve ended up.

It’s why supporting grassroots and underground touring matters.

These bands aren’t travelling thousands of miles because they’re expecting private jets and champagne.

They’re doing it because they’re absolutely obsessed with music.

And we can respect the hell out of that. 🤘

🇮🇪 Ireland’s Metal Community Has a Chance to Show Its Strength

None of this should overshadow the passionate metal community that exists across Ireland.

From Belfast to Dublin, Cork, Galway and beyond, Ireland has produced and supported some absolutely phenomenal heavy music over the years.

This unfortunate situation isn’t representative of that wider scene.

If anything, the response to situations like this can demonstrate exactly what underground music communities are capable of when somebody needs help.

Different countries.

Different languages.

Different scenes.

Same riffs.

That’s the beauty of heavy metal, mun.

❤️ Every Share Could Help

Hopefully, this story ends with the musicians boarding a flight, getting home safely and eventually being able to look back on the whole ordeal as one seriously stressful chapter in their band’s history.

Right now, though, they need support.

If you’ve got a few quid available and you’re comfortable donating, consider supporting the fundraiser.

If money’s tight — and let’s face it, whose isn’t? — sharing the campaign costs absolutely nothing.

The underground survives because people support it.

We buy the shirts.

We turn up early for the opening bands.

We buy physical records.

We travel to tiny venues.

We chuck money onto merch tables.

And sometimes, when everything goes spectacularly sideways, we help get the bands home.

That’s metal.

That’s community.

And that’s worth protecting. 🤘❤️🇮🇩🇮🇪
