🤘❤️ Judas Priest’s Rob Halford Pays Tribute to Dolly Parton: “I Love You Dolly”

The Metal God has nothing but love for the Queen of Country — and frankly, this is the wholesome musical crossover we’re absolutely here for.

When you picture Rob Halford, your brain probably immediately goes to roaring motorcycles, studded leather, screaming vocals and Judas Priest belting out heavy metal classics like Painkiller, Breaking the Law and You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’.

When you picture Dolly Parton, meanwhile, you’re probably thinking rhinestones, country music, enormous hair and songs that have become part of popular culture.

Two completely different musical worlds.

And yet?

Rob Halford absolutely bloody loves Dolly Parton. ❤️

The legendary Judas Priest frontman has once again shown his admiration for the country icon, paying tribute to one of his musical heroes with a beautifully simple message:

“I love you Dolly.”

And coming from the Metal God himself, that’s quite the endorsement.

🤠 The Metal God Meets the Queen of Country

Halford’s admiration for Dolly isn’t some unexpected throwaway comment either.

The Judas Priest singer has long spoken warmly about Parton, and the pair’s paths memorably crossed through the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, where both artists were inducted as part of the Class of 2022.

Yep — Dolly Parton and Judas Priest entering the Rock Hall in the same year.

Music history occasionally gets things absolutely spot-on.

Dolly initially questioned whether she belonged in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame because of her country roots, but eventually accepted the honour — and then decided she’d better make a rock album to justify it.

Because apparently Dolly Parton’s response to being inducted into the Rock Hall is basically:

“Fine then, I’ll make a bloody rock record.”

Legend. 😂🤘

That record became 2023’s Rockstar, a mammoth collection that saw Dolly embracing rock music alongside an absurd collection of famous guests.

And among them?

You guessed it.

Rob Halford.

🔥 Dolly Parton + Rob Halford + “Bygones”

Halford appeared alongside Dolly on “Bygones”, which also featured Mötley Crüe bassist Nikki Sixx and guitarist John 5.

Read that line again.

Dolly Parton.

Rob Halford.

Nikki Sixx.

John 5.

That’s not a recording session. That’s somebody clicking randomise character selection on the greatest rock game ever made. 😂

But it worked.

Dolly’s unmistakable voice alongside Halford’s legendary metal pipes created exactly the sort of genre-smashing collaboration that reminds us why putting musicians into neat little boxes is often completely pointless.

Country? Metal? Rock?

Who cares, mun?

If it sounds good, turn it up. 🔊🔥

❤️ Halford’s Love for Dolly Makes Perfect Sense

On paper, Dolly Parton and Rob Halford might appear to come from opposite ends of the musical universe.

Look a little closer, though, and they’ve actually got plenty in common.

Both are instantly recognisable performers.

Both have careers spanning decades.

Both possess voices that you can identify within seconds.

Both became icons while refusing to compromise who they were.

And both have built enormous connections with generations of fans.

Dolly’s influence also reaches far beyond country music. She’s become known around the world not just for songs including “Jolene,” “9 to 5” and “I Will Always Love You,” but for her humour, generosity, songwriting and enormous cultural impact.

Halford, meanwhile, helped define the sound and image of heavy metal as Judas Priest became one of Britain’s most important heavy bands.

Different roads.

Same destination:

Absolute bloody legends.

🤘 Heavy Metal Has Always Had a Bigger Heart Than People Think

There’s something wonderfully metal about Halford being so openly enthusiastic about an artist from a completely different genre.

Heavy metal fans know this already, of course.

Behind all the skulls, leather jackets, screaming guitars and songs about death, demons and questionable life decisions lies one of music’s biggest communities.

Metalheads appreciate great musicians.

And Dolly Parton is unquestionably one of them.

You don’t need blast beats and Marshall stacks to earn the Metal God’s respect.

Sometimes all you need is a cracking voice, brilliant songs and enough rhinestones to temporarily blind everyone standing within twenty feet.

🤠🤘 Can We Have More Dolly and Halford, Please?

Their collaboration on Rockstar proved that the Queen of Country and the Metal God can absolutely occupy the same musical universe.

So naturally, we’ve got one request:

Do it again.

Give us Dolly covering Breaking the Law.

Give us Rob Halford screaming the final chorus of Jolene.

Get Judas Priest playing behind Dolly.

Chuck Willie Nelson into the studio while we’re at it.

Nobody leaves until there’s an album.

We’d buy it.

You’d buy it.

Half of Wales would probably buy two copies. 😂🐉

For now, though, Halford’s affectionate tribute says everything it needs to say.

“I love you Dolly.”

Simple.

Heartfelt.

And proof that sometimes the best moments in music happen when the walls between genres come crashing down.

Long live the Metal God. 🤘

Long live the Queen of Country. 🤠❤️

And long live wonderfully unexpected musical friendships.

Proudly Welsh. Proudly Loud. Zero Apologies. 🐉🤘
